Apartment - Entire home/apt · Kahope Place, Haiku-Pauwela, HI 96708, United States

The Space

Aloha ,

My wife and I have an apartment for rent in a friendly neighborhood on the North Shore of Maui.
The rental is a nice, clean, and private apartment with a first floor living area that includes a sofa bed and futon in the living room, a kitchen and dining area, and a bathroom. The spacious second floor bedroom has a queen bed. You can see the ocean and the volcano from the "third floor" rooftop lanai. The unit includes wi-fi internet access, cable tv, dvd and cd players, laundry facilities, a private entrance and off street parking. There is also a shower bath that is ideal for use after a day at the beach. The apartment is located one block off the Hana highway, one mile from Haiku Town, and about 20 minutes from the airport. Surfer? Hookipa Beach and Jaws are 5 minutes away. Ask Judit for a tour of her Lucille Ball Museum.

The daily rate for 2 people is $85 per night with a 2 night minimum. Check in at 2pm, out at 11am. Weekly and monthly discounts are available. We will take 3 adults or a couple with 1 or 2 kids for a higher rate.

Please let us know as soon as you can if you wish to confirm a booking. We often have other inquiries pending, and our policy is the first to confirm is the first served. I have attached a few recent photos for you to consider. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • What an amazing place to explore the island! The house is huge, beautifully decorated and fully equipped (including the papaya-picker). Tim was very helpful, giving us directions and hints on how to find the best beaches, waterfalls, lava-tubes etc. along the Hana highway.
I recommend this place and hosts to my friends and family and would definitely stay here again.

  • A nice, spacious suite and gorgeous bedroom in a rural, family oriented neighborhood. It is a great place to stay if you want to be away from all the hustle and bustle. Also a great starting point for the Hana Hwy.

Note: Because the home is located in a more rural area insects and geckos can be found inside and out. Make sure you clean up after preparing food and keep as much of your food in the fridge.

Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Tim during our stay, but we were met and seen off by Judit. Pretty much the only times we saw Judit. She is very nice and is willing to help if you need it.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Judit and Tim's apartment! It had all the amenities we needed, including a comfortable bed, beach supplies, and movies to watch. There were a few spiders and other bugs, but they weren't bothersome and are to be expected in a tropical location like this. We were very active and didn't have much time to spend with Judit and Tim, but they were very nice and gave us some great suggestions of places to eat. We would stay there again! Thanks, Tim and Judit!

  • The apartment is in a quiet local neighborhood away for the hustle and bustle, but with easy access to most places on the island. It is spacious and comfortable, pictures don't do it justice. Tim and Judy are pleasant and helpful hosts. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Quiet, lovely, very Hawaiian. Loved eating fresh papaya off the tree in the yard. Wonderful stay, highly recommend to anyone wanting a true Hawaiian experience. Tim and Judith were very helpful and most congenial. We will come again.

  • Judit and Tim's house is a perfect getaway when visiting Maui. It's located away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist populated area, and yet is easily accessible to all parts of the island. The house itself is very well equipped with almost anything you might need. We even used the snorkel gear, boogie board and beach chairs that were provided. Also, a big plus for us was a very comfortable bed in the upstairs bedroom (we slept very well!). Judit and Tim are both wonderful hosts, and Tim's sit-down-with-us orientation when we arrived was an immense help to us in figuring out where to go and what to do on the island.

  • Judit and Tim were great hosts. The apartment was very well equipped and very convenient for our trip on the Road to Hana.

  • Aloha. I will start out by saying that we were well greeted by Judit, the hostess and at first sight the place looked cosy and nice. However, once we had a closer look it was VERY dirty and it was obvious that it had not been cleaned for some time, Not that I expect a lot, but cleaniless is definitely something my parents and I value. There were spiders and spider webs everywhere, all kitchen utensils were sticky and dirty, the drawers were dirty and we had cockroaches and other bugs everywhere (I do have plenty of pictures to show that we weren't being obsessive compulsive cleaners).
It smelled old inside and even the outside "terasse" was dirty and messy which made us not want to use it.
Because we only had 2½ days in Maui we hardly spent time there, but we would still have appreciated a nice clean place to come back to.
I mentioned my disappointment when we checked out because both Tim and Judit asked how our stay had been and I did not want to lie. I did not mention anything earlier because we didn't have time and because we knew it couldn't be fixed anyway within those days.

One more thing we were a bit upset about was the fact that Judit just walked in to our part of the house without letting us know. Would have liked to have known that, so perhaps leave a note next time!

Other than that, it's a good location and they have ALL the brochures and books you could ever want and need for your holiday in Maui and the rest of Hawaii.

    Response from Judit & Tim:

Aloha Folks, I wrote a review of these guests right after they departed. If you check it out, you will see that Anna quotes all my points about our experience with her & her parents. I'll tell you, if the first thing I saw upon arrival was a very dirty place, I would not even check in. Sorry, Anna, please go someplace else if you come back to Maui. Leave our place available for guests with the aloha spirit who know a great spot when they check in. Mahalo.

  • Tim and Judit were great hosts...Judit met us late to let us know/greet us upon our arrival, and Tim offered us perspective on the island, as well as pointed us out toward some great eats/sights etc. This is a great place to base yourself while exploring the north shore/road to Hana.

  • We stayed on 3 islands on this trip and enjoyed Tim & Judit's accommodations the best. Living quarters were very spacious, and we slept very well on the comfortable king size bed in the master bedroom loft. Nice night-time breezes. Only negative is you have to go down a spiral staircase to use the washroom, which could be seen as inconvenient to some, in the middle of the night. Jim & Judit were great hosts, able & willing to advise things to do, places to go and eat, even had maps we could look at. Location was great - quiet, private, and yet central location to site-seeing on the island and nearby town of Paia. Covered parking was provided for our vehicle. Kitchen was very well stocked, more than we have ever seen, even things like spices, tea & coffee, cling-wrap, etc. We saw geckos inside the house but they were not a problem. Ants were common, but if you cleaned up after yourself, they were minimal. We found ants were worse on other islands. One thing we could say is the place could have used a good thorough spring cleaning, mostly in the corners. We would stay there again next trip to this island.

Aloha! We love living on Maui. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. Tim works in the film and television business. Judit is an extreme Lucille Ball Fan and Collector. She is from Budapest, Hungary, and learned to speak English watching "I Love Lucy"! Kitty cat included, your choice! We are LBGT friendly, and will also host a family. Come join us in paradise.
