Turn of the century half shotgun apartment in a quiet and safe part of the Maringy/Bywater. 10 minute walk to Frenchmen St., 15 to the French Quarter! Lots of local cafes and shops nearby; Cake Cafe, Satsuma, Maurepas, The Joint, Bacchanal and so much more!
Apartment is spacious with beautiful hardwood floors, cozy furnishings, super comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, front porch, and a secluded back yard. The house is a typical shotgun layout, which means that the bedroom has one door separating it from the front of the house and a privacy curtain into the kitchen. Please look at our pictures!
Getting around town is very easy simply by walking but we additionally have two bicycles that guests are allowed to borrow to make the most of their visit in New Orleans.
A Taxi ride to the Louis Armstrong Airport from this location takes approximately 20 minutes and runs about $35 sans tip. There is also a public bus from the airport that runs hourly for around $1.50.
Laura was welcoming and shared a lot of information on the area regarding coffee shops and fresh produce. The room is huge and very clean super comfortable bed, kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal. The only downside is since the cell phone reception is weak in there're of the house and it's only an issue because there is no wifi. Other than that two thumbs up
Staying with Laura was the best decision we made on our trip to New Orleans and a great introduction to airbnb. Laura and Cassidy are extremely helpful and fun! They directed us to some fantastic spots in their neighborhood and throughout the city. Cassidy is a jazz bassist and we had great time seeing his shows with Laura and exploring Frenchman street. About the house, it is a short and safe walk to Frenchman street and the French quarter. It is in a beautiful and quiet little neighborhood. The room is lovely, nicer than the majority of hotels I have stayed in and the bathroom has the nicest shower I have ever experienced. In addition, Laura and Cassidy provide all the toiletries you may need for your stay. I highly recommend staying with these two. Their home is beautiful and they are incredibly friendly and excited to share their beautiful city/neighborhood with guests. We enjoyed coming home and checking in with Laura and Cassidy about our day and getting their input on the plan for the next day! Book now and enjoy your stay!!
Laura and her partner were very nice and accommodating. This was my first time using Airbnb and they made my first experience go pretty smoothly. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Friday evening and checked out on a Sunday afternoon. They were very welcoming and flexible regarding check-in/check-out time which was great due to the unexpected traffic on the way there and the extra activities that we wanted to do before leaving. They gave us privacy but were also available for any questions we had regarding directions and they had suggestions on where to go as well. Also, they let us borrow their bikes which was a great way to get around the French Quarter! While this experience as a whole was a little awkward for me, especially at first, I did get used to the idea of staying with people we didn't know, and we had a great trip! I definitely recommend Laura as a host and I think I will be using Airbnb again in the future.
Andrew and I had the most wonderful time in New Orleans staying with Laura and Cassidy! They are both kind, respectful, and extremely helpful. The room is lovely, the bed cozy, the bikes incredibly useful, the location ideal. Next time I'm in Nola and need a place to stay, this will be where I check first! Thanks guys!! See you next time. :)
Laura is an AMAZING host. She was SUPER informative. She is very down to earth and welcoming. She gave me so much insight of the great city of N'Awlins. Her location is awesome! She recommended Cakes Cafe for breakfast and I will say I left that cafe a whole new woman having eaten a crab, brie, spinach omelet! She was gracious enough to drive me around looking for a UPS store on New Year's Eve. She is smart and she makes a mean tea :-) The bed is like sleeping on a cloud, I slept VERY well. I would definitely say my stay was very good. The night I got there we talked for quite a while and got to know one another. How many people do that for an airbnb stay? Not many. A memorable trip, indeed.
Laura and Cassidy are great hosts. First they offered a much convenient ride from the airport (better than taxi). Their house is very well located, you can walk to Frenchmen street or take a bike of their own. If you are interested in jazz and music like me, Cassidy can give you all the infos about the best places, beig himself a musician (a great bass player by the way). If you like to experience living with nice people for a few days, I do recomend you to stay at Laura's.
Thank you very much Laura for the great place and your hospitality, all the best, martin
Our hosts were very sweet and accommodating. Their home is in a great neighborhood with excellent access to Frenchmen, the french quarter, etc. The apartment is super clean! If booking this apartment, please keep in mind that the shotgun architecture means that you will be walking through one another's bed rooms to get to other parts of the house. Laura and Cassidy seemed to be comfortable with this arrangement, but it might be uncomfortable if you are looking for a lot of privacy.
I want to echo what the other reviews have said. This is the perfect place to stay in New Orleans. It was very clean and well-appointed. We were comfortable and never felt unsafe. All of Laura's recommendations were on point and we loved using the bikes to get around. A couple things I noticed that I haven't seen in other reviews: nice bedding, good lighting in the bathroom, and assorted toiletries were provided. Laura was always quick to respond whenever we had questions. We would love to stay here again.
Peace in Marigny was the perfect accommodation for our trip to New Orleans. Laura and Cassidy were fantastic hosts; the room was clean and spacious; and the location perfect. As we are keen musicians, we used our hosts' excellent knowledge to see some great music on Frenchman Street. We also followed their recommendations for breakfast and dinner, which were all spot on. Finally, using their bikes, we had the opportunity to roam further in the city than our tired feet could take us. Thank you for a brilliant stay!
