This studio/1BA apartment is in a great location, quiet and woodsy despite being in the city, with downtown and wilder areas easily accessible via close-at-hand transit or a quick cab ride down the nearby FDR highway.
The use of the apartment comes with fresh, soft towels and sheets, and I take care of the cleaning; the only thing I ask is that you keep your dishes clean...speaking of which, those who like to prepare food will appreciate the full stainless steel cooking set, VitaMix blender, and Breville juicer!
The decor is clean and simple, giving you space to unpack and really enjoy your stay without having to live out of your suitcase. I provide shelving and wood hangers for you to use, making preparation for meetings or nights out as fun and easy as if you were at home!
The WiFi is delivered by a fast and reliable Apple router that has not gone down once in over a year of being plugged in!
Ten minutes walk to Central Park and 5 minutes to East Side Promenade, making this a great place for runners, cyclists and people who like to enjoy the outdoors even when in the city.
Short walk to the 4, 5 and 6 trains, laundry services one block away, loads of great restaurants nearby.
The bed in the loft area, while not as deluxe as the main bed, is suited for two additional people, making this great for families with kids or two couples who don't want to break the bank and don't mind sleeping in the same room as one another.

John is very nice and intelligent person. Appartment was great. Location is superior. So whats more... Highly recommended.
The loft was wonderful, it looks exactly as it does in the photos on the website. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. We would recommend this place to anyone. It was in a good area, quiet, and pleasant. There is a restaurant down the block as well as a grocery market. The location is awesome, central to everything. The subway is just a quick walk away and easily accessible. Thumbs up to this place. Loved our stay.
The apartment looks just like the pictures. Great location, great neighborhood and 92nd St is so easy to navigate and hail a cab.
The location of the unit itself within the building was very convenient. Only up a two levels and it was surprisingly quiet for NYC. No street noises and I couldn't hear any of the other tenants of the building.
Much more value versus a hotel room anywhere else in the city. I was going to pay $300-$500/nt for a hotel room. What was I thinking!? John's studio beats the hotel option hands down! The split level, the fireplace, the sleeping loft, all gave the unit great character.
John is a great host and very responsive. My wife met his NYC contact Jason at the apartment to get situated. Jason is also a gracious representative of John and very helpful.
Can't say enough about the experience and working with John was a breeze. He responded to emails and text messages in a timely manner and the apartment was more than I could have hoped for. Makes me want to move to NYC and live this life 24/7!
Thanks for making my first Airbnb experience a positive one. I will be back and will spread the word to my circle about John's studio in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Mahalo John and Mahalo Airbnb!
Great apartment, great location, the studio is exactly as described, check-in and check-out were easy and flexible. Highly recommended and I would for sure come back!
Our stay was wonderful. The studio loft was clean and quaint. The bed was comfortable and the accommodations were more than adequate. The location was nice and I would absolutely recommend staying there!
Studio vraiment sympa, bien situé, commerce à proximité, station métro 86 et 96 ieme rue, calme et propre. Je le recommande.
My wife and I stayed 8 nights at John's place in Nov 2013.
First of all, the design and decor was lovely. It has a country feel. The space is bigger than the picture looks. The fireplace is lovely! The lightings are cosy as it gives a warm feel to it.
Secondly, there is much peace amidst the busy NYC. Much needed peace and quiet for a good rest after a busy day of touring. Despite it, it was safe as the area was a high-end residential area.
Thirdly, In terms of location, there are plenty of supermarkets, deli and pizza chains around. So for those thinking of getting groceries, morning breakfast and late night pizzas, there is absolutely no problem.
Fourthly, the subway, at 86th or 96tj St, is about 10 mins walk away from the apartment. It is a bit of a walk for those who are not used to it. But to get the peace away from the bustling crowd, it is a good balanced for my wife and I.
Finally, for those who like a morning run, John's apt is near east river or Central Park. You can enjoy your workout there!
Thanks John for availing your place for us!
We stayed 10 days my husband my 21 years daughter and myself. It was nice and spacious enough although the bathroom is a bit too small .
Safe walking even at late night. Grocery around the corner as well as some food places. Transportation is easy we used buses and subway.
Manhattan was great from John's place. Easy access to everything and surprisingly quiet! He was very easy to reach and we had no concerns at all while we were there as the place was well kept and stocked with everything you need. I loved the giant dry erase wall. The beds were very comfortable and I loved being able to soak my body in a hot bath at the end of a long day of adventuring.
John's apartment was GREAT! We would certainly be interested in staying again for future trips to NYC! Great experience and John was very communicative to make sure we got the most out of our stay.
