Aloha, Folks! E Komo Mai! Welcome to this exciting step to your adventure in Hawaii!
***We are proud to have been awarded "Airbnb Super Host" It feels good to be recognized for our efforts..!!! Thank You everyone for your 5 Star Votes of appreciation..!
In the quiet, Artist Community of charming Holualoa Village, nestled on the slopes of the forested Hualalai foothills, just 5 miles above the heat and hustle of Kailua-Kona, we have prepared your home away from home.
We invite you to your accommodations, where ample domestic amenities open up to lush gardens in the heart of the Kona coffee belt. Take part in the richly landscaped 1/4 acre that is your private space during your stay. A furnished, softly lit gazebo gives you a central view (rain or shine; night or day) to tropical exotics from around the world, Asian and European greens, culinary herbs, native Hawaiian medicines, and fruit trees. Two other outdoor lanais (covered sitting areas) are yours to enjoy just outside the Cottage.
You'll have the privacy of your own bathroom and open air kitchen which look out into the fragrant gardens.
We take great pleasure in catering to the needs of the Adult Traveler with a sense of fun, who enjoys the serenity of the countryside with the convenience of rural markets, Fine Dining, Cafes, and exquisite galleries- all within walking distance. Ted has called Hawaii home for nearly 30 years and delights in suggesting little known jewels for dining, attractions and beaches.
Accommodations are available for as many as 3 total guests. One queen bed and one twin bed sleep our maximum comfortably.
We look forward to seeing you!
Because of the Historic status of this property, uneven ground and multilevel architecture, this rental is best suited for people without difficulty in mobility. Parking is on the lawn, a short walk up the driveway. We leave the light on for late-comers and folks who like to Moon Dance.
If you prefer to prepare your own food, your private outdoor kitchen is screened in and roofed and has all the modern amenities. It is fully stocked with your own personal refrigerator/freezer unit, gas range/oven, running hot and cold water, water cooler/heater, serving ware for four, cooking implements, pots and pans and baking ware, and various ingredients in the pantry.
Enjoy full use of the washer and drier and sun drying rack (if you prefer.) Laundry detergent is provided.
Enjoy the privacy of your own bathroom. A cozy shower with complimentary toiletries, towels, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent are included in your stay.
The gardens are often ready for one food or another to be harvested. We are happy to share this with you.
Going to the beach? Take your pick of any of our gear! Fins, snorkels, masks, boogie boards, towels, coolers, mats, and chairs are all at your disposal.
If there is anything you need just let us know.
Interaction with Guests
Although we live on the same grounds as the Garden Cottage, we respect your privacy. However, we go out of our way to ensure your comfort. We are available while we are on the grounds to address your needs.
You are always welcome to ask questions or express any concerns you might have. We truly wish for you to feel relaxed and at home. We encourage you to enjoy the peaceful, Zen experience of our Gardens... And leave the islands with a true sense of Aloha.
The Historical Society has recently displayed signage all around town giving Historical Landmarks (of which your B&B is one) more visibility. Delight in old garages and post offices converted into beautiful galleries and mercantile and take advantage of seasonal festivals, monthly Nighttime Art Strolls and weekly outdoor markets.
The more you explore and the more inquisitive you are, the more Old Hawaii will reveal itself to you.
It is recommended that our guests rent a vehicle during their stay. This puts the convenience of independent travel at your disposal. There is no public transit through Holualoa Village and taxi fares are high.
A private car brings sites of interest within 15 to 20 minutes from your accommodations.
Other Things to Note
We will respond to your inquiries promptly and encourage clear and detailed communication. As you book your flight, let us know when you will be arriving and when you plan to arrive in Holualoa. We are only 20 minutes away from the airport. So, please arrange to have our cellular number so you can call us when you land if you are checking in with us that day. If you are already on the Big Island, just let us know when you plan on arriving the day of your check-in.
We appreciate this courtesy. It helps us to know you have arrived safely. We also like to put final touches on your Cottage and be here to meet and greet you when you arrive.
Make yourself at Home!
Come and see us soon!

What can I say?
It was AGAIN a wonderful stay!
We stayed here for the second time and will defintely come back!
Ted greeted us, when we arrived late at night and we just felt like home and the long flight was forgotten!
The big island is a paradise but stayin with at Ted makes the vacation just perfect! The cottage is a dream and I enjoyed the wonderful tropical garden so much! It's so lush and you feel the life wich helped me to recharge! The kitchen is almost like an outside and you feel like cooking in the jungle - awesome! Fully equipped (great working big fridge) and if you should need anything I am sure Ted will give it to you!!!
The location is perfect for the konaside of the island. I would say it's just the middle of all the attractions you might visit. It's a little bit up the hill so at night it cools down. You don't freeze, you don't sweat, perfect temperature to fall asleep and you don't need a stupid aircondition!
At night the frogs start their concert and I loved to fall asleep with this sound!
So Ted is not an airbnbHost, he's a friend!
Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo!!!!!

It's fun to go on vacation and have a Buddhist temple next door and a garden Buddha himself would have loved to sit and meditate in. Ted has kept this space beautiful and it is wonderful that he shared it with us! The tips for snorkeling were very helpful and the gear was perfect for all our swims in the ocean.
Our stay at Ted's private garden cottage was fantastic. He had and amazing fresh fruit bowl ready for us on arrival. The space if quite spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. He also had snorkeling gear available for us to use, which was super handy.
This is definitely the perfect spot to getaway from the normal touristy areas for some serene relaxing close to nature.
This was the most holy place we ever stayed! Ted was very friendly and easy to talk to. He spoiled us with a fresh fruits that we tasted first time there.
It felt like beeing in Bali, all statues and very lush garden. Bed was very comftable, we slept very well. It is really great that insted of street voices you can hear birds and froggs singing. Thank you Ted for hospitality!
Our stay at Ted's place was just what we wanted: private, away from the touristy area, and quiet. The cottage is lovely with everything you need to be comfortable. We appreciated the extra touches like kona coffee, toiletries, towels, laundry and snorkel gear (even though we didn't get around to using it). Ted is super friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend his place to anyone. We would also recommend the Holualoa Gardens and Cafe for exquisite food.
