Interaction with Guests
If you are renting my entire house, it means I am out of town. Interface will be only with house manager and housekeeper.
Our neighborhood, Colonia Guadalupe, has been officially designated as The Arts District. This means there is a large number of artists living and working here, there are street murals and street festivals happening and changing the face and feeling of the community. And last but not least, there is an art store, an organic market and restaurant, and other necessities like hardware stores, tiendas for any kinds of groceries, and we're close to the galleries and stores in the Fabrica Aurora.
Urban bus stops 2 blocks from my house, taxis easy to find. First class bus terminal for other cities in Mexico is about a mile away. From airports, you can come to San Miguel via this terminal, on either ETN or Primera Plus, both luxury buses. Or, you can schedule an airport shuttle with BajioGo, whether you fly into Mexico City, Leon, or Queretaro.
Other Things to Note

No smoking, no pets. There might not be a lot of places in San Miguel where you can stop worrying about your allergies to pet dander and cigarette smoke. Your little corner of the world here does not include a party house. Little kids not allowed except by prior agreement.

We never met Lena, but we corresponded with her regularly,, and she was always helpful -- and I mean, very helpful.
The house was as pictured -- or even better -- and the locations was great (10 minutes to Jardin Principal without hills). Her housekeepers kept the place in great order.
It was a joy to stay in Lena's house for an entire month: being surrounded by her art and her love of colors. I loved the neighborhood and having easy access to Via Organica and the restaurants in that area, plus the easy walk up to the Jardin. The house was comfortable, especially the luscious double bed in the upper room. I wanted to write and spread my manuscript out, so her art space with its long tables was absolutely perfect for my work. There were several relaxing places to choose from: the upper patio with a view of the parroquia; the patio sofa surrounded by her herb garden, the living room. Lena thoughtfully checked in with me by email and also left me alone to do my creative work. Together with her support system in San Miguel, we navigated the running the house quite well. And it was a joy to spend time with her the last few days I was there.

Artist for many years, expat from Santa Fe, N.M. living full time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I'm an easy guest and some people say a great host. I love meeting new people from all over the world. I don't love big groups, don't party, non-smoker, no drugs, nice radical grandmotherly cosmic space-explorer artist type. I'm happy to show you my San Miguel if you are new to the scene.
Sagittarian, feminist, flexitarian, borderline Buddhist / spiritual being just being here now, I love galleries, museums, cultural experiences of any kind. I know the art scene in San Miguel and will happily give you a tour of our neighborhood, the newly designated Arts District of Colonia Guadalupe. My rooms are like your own private artist residencies, so come and explore, create, let San Miguel inspire you. "All art, all the time!"
