This is a great studio apartment right in the heart of West Harlem, on a quiet, tree-lined street in what is know as the historic Sugar Hill neighborhood.
This is a great studio apartment right in the heart of West Harlem, on a quiet, tree-lined street in what is know as the historic Sugar Hill neighborhood. The apartment is in an old brownstone in the back of the house so it is quiet and peaceful. The C subway line is just around the corner and the 1 subway line is only a few blocks away. It is also accessible to several buses and you can easily get a car/sedan by walking to the corner.
The apartment has AC and heat, Internet/WiFi, all the basics you need for cooking, and fresh linens and towels will be provided. The bathroom has a shower/tub combination with fantastic water pressure. I also have the only access to the backyard of the house (which right now is a work in progress--table and chairs coming soon!--but nice if you want to step outside for a moment or have a smoke--the apartment is smoke free).
The neighborhood has some great corner places and bodegas for easy food shopping and is known for its Dominican food that you can find by walking a couple blocks in any direction. There are laundromats within a couple blocks so if you are staying for longer, doing your laundry is no problem. The apartment is a short walk from the Hudson River promenade, Riverside park, City College, and scenic Convent avenue. Also easy to get to either of Columbia University's campuses.
If you drive into the city, there is street parking available that is usually easy to find. And it is free! with no meters in the area. (However, you do have to pay attention to the park signs for the days/times for street cleaning.) But with the subway so close, you definitely do not need a car.
I love my apartment, its location, and its vibe. NYC is a great city to explore and I'm happy to share it with you.
Check-in and check-out times are noted but I'm happy to be flexible depending on your travel plans. Be in touch in advance and we can work it out. Email with any questions and we can go from there.
No smoking please--though you can smoke in the backyard away from the house.
Please keep noise to a reasonable volume.
Treating my place with respect is appreciated as is cleaning up after yourself. Please take the trash out when you leave.
Its a great place to live and I think you will love it!
Nice place, exactly as described and shown in pictures. Close to 155st station with c train so easy to get around New York and all the attractions. Very cosy, perfect for a short stay in New York. Jennifer was easily available during the stay and answered any questions we had.
I loved Jens place it was small & very homey . I loved it there felt like I actually lived there very cute place. I'll definitely stay there again . Thank you so much Jen
Jennifer is a wonderful host. She was very prompt in replying to all my questions and picking my calls. The place was exactly the same as described and felt just like home. Since I was in New York for only 3 days and was out the whole day exploring the city, I did not get the chance to use the kitchen. Nonetheless, the studio seemed complete in itself. I browsed through Jen's collection of books which was pretty amazing. I was also impressed by Jen's coin collection and various little pretty artefacts on the big shelf separating the kitchen and the bed. The neighborhood was quiet and safe which I noticed when I arrived at Jen's place past midnight. Overall, I had an awesome time and would recommend this place to a couple who are looking to have a wonderful time in New York and want a place very close to all the major attractions in Manhattan.
Clean, small and simple. 1 minute walk to the subway. Plenty of cookware available. Plenty of books and New Yorker back issues as well.
Jen was a wonderful host. We didn't get to meet in person, but she kept in immediate contact during our trip. Her apartment was cute and cozy, just as pictured, and was super clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was also nice and quiet, even with the subway right nearby! This was our first time trying AirBnB and we loved it! We'd definitely stay at Jen's place again.
nice neighborhood, good connections to downtown Manhattan (next metro station around the corner), a bit noisy but that's how the city is.

About the Host, Jennifer
After years as a policy professional in DC I've decided to go back to school in NYC. As a host, I'm welcoming, flexible, and easy to work with. As a guest, I also rent my apartment on airbnb so will be respectful and easy on your space, leaving it just like I found it.
