Perched halfway up the famed ‘Counterbalance Hill’ on Queen Anne’s Southern slope, the Living room, Kitchen, Bedroom and Balcony all benefit from an unobstructed quintessential view of Seattle’s skyline: Space Needle, Downtown, and Mount Rainer. On a clear day you can even see the Cascade Mountain Range to the left, then step out onto the balcony and look right to take in the Olympic Mountains (plus a small peak at the ferries crossing Elliott Bay) …or you can block it all out with the top-down-bottom-up blinds, ideal for eclipsing the lower-third of each window and effectively eliminating all neighboring buildings (and their windows).
Located in a clean, safe, vibrant part of Seattle, your stay here puts you within a 15-min walk of the Space needle, and only a few blocks from the top AND bottom of the hill for great coffee shops, bars, grocery stores, and restaurants, this (1 bedroom, 1.5 bath) condo is one of the 13 original units in this historic brick building, built back in 1906. While the unit still maintains it’s old world charm on the outside (replica balcony and handcrafted window sills & hardware), the entire building underwent an extensive renovation in 2008 to completely redo the interior spaces (also adding 2 penthouses to the roof and 3 townhouses to the front), modernizing everything. While the pictures should give you a good feel, I’d say the condo is modern and classic, with Viking and Sub-Zero appliances in the kitchen along with all the necessary utensils and basic pots & pans for your aspiring chiefs / omelet makers out there.
The bedroom has a queen size Tempur-Pedic® bed and a walk-in closet with open space to hang your clothes, lay out your suitcase or iron that formal attire (though Flannel is still accepted everywhere). The full bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom, with walk-in shower and separate tub.
The living room / kitchen / dining room area has a flat panel HD TV with Blueray player and very basic HD cable options. WiFi is broadcast throughout the condo and the TV is internet-ready, so feel free to sign into Netflix, etc. The living room also has an ergonomic adjustable (sit/stand) desk for those of you on a “business trip”.
Notable tourist destinations within 20 minute walk: Pike Place Fish Market , Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum, EMP, Pacific Science Center, Duck Tour, Key Arena, Pacific Place Shopping Mall (also note that Bus route #13 is less than a block away)
*Unit also has a washer / dryer, so help yourself to the suds for those dirty duds.
**Double-tall queen-size inflatable AeroBed and sheets available on request for additional guests, with just enough space to set up an ‘auxiliary bedroom’ in the living room area.
***PARKING - Note this AirBnB unit does NOT come with a dedicated parking space, but FREE street parking is on the 5+ blocks or so that surround my building (no permit required), which is very nice (this is not the case throughout the city).
great place in a unique, safe, and beautiful part of the city. Queen Anne is relatively quiet and has wonderful charter. The Apartment is centrally located with great views, reasonable parking, and a stone's throw from town. Well apportioned, modern, comfortable, (email hidden)!
Grant's apartment was immaculate and the view was gorgeous. Great location with several coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Grant was a great host being accommodating and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend his place. Thanks Grant!
Immaculate and gorgeous apartment in a perfect location.
We loved that we could walk to both upper and lower Queen Anne - we even walked downtown one day. Coffee shops, great restaurants all really close. You are very central to getting to other Seattle neighborhoods as well with a central bus stop right at the bottom of the hill. Queen Anne itself is a great little neighborhood and we quickly made ourselves a nice little running loop with incredible views along Highland Dr.
The living space was perfect. The shower is amazing, plenty of sitting/lounging area, super comfy bed, really awesome overall. The view of the city skyline is an extra bonus - we caught some pretty amazing photos right from the balcony. Honestly the worst part about the place is that you will not want to leave!
This was my first time using Airbnb and had a great experience at Grant's! From the initial communication, he was very responsive to any questions that I had which made the decision to stay at his place even easier. Once there, everything from check in to check out was a very smooth process. His place is also beautiful, clean and had great Seattle /Space Needle views.
I would definitely recommend Grant's place for anyone looking for a nice stay in Seattle.
Communicating with Grant was quick and responsive. We had a last minute modification to our reservation and were able to work it out via text message seconds before take off! which turned out to be a lifesaver. We had a comfortable and convenient stay. It is an ideal location for anyone visiting Downtown Seattle. Each night, we walked home from the car with views of the Downtown skyline, easily visible atop the rolling hills of Queen Anne district. We enjoyed the quiet stay given the small number of units in the building. The apt had all the practical amenities one would need for a pleasant stay, with character to boot. We would recommend Grant's place to anyone visiting Seattle.
Grant's place is an amazing find in a great area of Seattle. Its also the nicest airbnb place we've stay at yet :) The apartment looks and feels new and clean and it is very tastefully decorated, with a "travel theme" throughout. Its rare to find a one-bedroom with such a spacious and functional living space/kitchen, separate shower and tub in the master bathroom, a laundry room AND a half bath. The mattress and bedding is very comfortable. Top and bottom shades on all windows allow you to let in great light while keeping it private. This would be a perfect taking off place for a couple to relax in while visiting Seattle. The location is ideal as it is in a safe and quiet area, but right off several bus lines and walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, bars, coffee/cafes, and cute shops. It is an easy place to stay active as well as there are some great places to run nearby and yoga within walking distnace. We utilized the kitchen a bit and all the things you need are there. Grant was easy to communicate with, accommodating, and generous. We will definitely try to stay at his place on our next visit to Seattle. Don't hesitate to book!
Our host was extremely accommodating and friendly and the location was among the best in the city. The views are amazing and the apartment is even better than it is described. I will definitely be using this place again on my next visit to Seattle.
The reservation was canceled 22 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We could not have been more pleased with our stay in this apartment! My boyfriend and I just graduated from law school and wanted a quiet, relaxing getaway before starting to study for the bar exam and that is exactly what we got. The apartment was the perfect size, very clean, and Grant was so friendly and helpful! The location was awesome with tons of fun restaurants and things to do nearby, but also very quiet and serene at night. There is a great grocery store right down the street so we were able to save a few dollars cooking at home when we were taking it easy. We were lucky with the weather so we were able to see the Space Needle and Mount Rainer everyday we were there (the Space Needle is literally right there)! For the price, this was a definite home run for us and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Seattle! Again, Grant was such a generous host - he took all the worry out of the trip! We came home refreshed, full of seafood, and very pleased with the time we spent. Thanks again!
Nice apartment with great views in Queen Anne. We really enjoyed staying here -- clean, modern, well appointed apartment. New kitchen, large master bathroom, and overall good size for a one bedroom apartment. Apartment has wifi, large TV, new appliances, etc. You can walk to downtown, or hop on a busy just on the corner. Grant was communicative before and during our stay.
Only (very minor) issues were that Grant's apartment is so well stocked there's not much space to put your stuff (i.e. your suitcase), and we had to rearrange check in time the day of check in.
We really enjoyed staying here, and we will return if we come through Seattle again.
