THE AREA: My place is in Zone 1. It is 20-30 minutes walk from Kensington Palace (Princess Diana's old home). If you walk in the other direction you arrive at Marble Arch walking 20 minutes and the famous Oxford Street begins there. The flat is a few hundred meters from Hyde Park itself and if you walk across it towards Hyde Park Corner, Constitution Hill and Buckingham Palace is not far from there. It will take about 50 minutes walk to Buckingham Palace and about 30 minutes by public transport. Walking is a much nicer route, so you can see that the flat is in a very central location. ((website hidden) - 'London Journey Planner.'

Perhaps it is your first time here? Please note that Zone 1 in London is a big place and is nothing like any other city I have ever been to (having travelled around the world quite a bit).

If you stroll across the park and you arrive at the Royal Albert Hall and Knightsbridge. Bayswater provides ample opportunity for shopping or just lazing about in the eateries and traditional pubs. It is an affluent area with some very famous neighbours from the film and fashion industries. The area has many smart mansion blocks built in and around the 19th Century. It is well served by transport links, Lancaster Gate, Bayswater, Queensway, Marble Arch, Paddington, Westbourne Grove tube stations and numerous buses including a shuttle to Heathrow airport. All parts of London are easily accessible. Paddington – Oxford Circus and Piccadilly in less than 15 minutes. ‘Little Venice’ canal and Mayfair are not far away. • Personally, I love this flat! When I met Lara, it was as if meeting a friend. She is polite, very understanding and easy to talk to. I was able to explain to her our needs and preferences during our stay without any hesitation. As we were a large group, Lara showed great concern for our comfort and gave her best to ensure we had a pleasant stay and holiday. She made sure we got settled in nicely and briefed us simply about the flat. As the flat is clean and in good condition overall, with most things easy to manage by ourselves, we rarely needed to call on her for anything, thus had our privacy the whole time. Just what we were looking for! We had a lovely time and really felt like home, away from home. I would most certainly stay here again!

  • The flat is very well located in the heart of central London, just 3 mins walk to Hyde park and five mins to Bayswater tube station.
The flat itself was comfortable and well-equipped. Lara was a very nice host and kept in touch constantly to answer our queries. I would recommend this flat.

  • The reservation was canceled 15 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • It truly is a great location. The apartment is pretty much as advertised, not a palace but totally functional.
We had a 90 minute wait to get into the apartment but otherwise no problems.

  • We never met Lara personally, but her emails and her telephone attention was impeccable!
She is very kind and answered quickly all our requests and questions.
Lara gave us the most of our stay. The apartment itself is very comfortable, cozy and super central in an excellent neighborhood only 5 minutes far from Hyde Park and 15 from Oxford Street.

I would totally recommend to anyone who wants to visit London!
    Thanks Lara!

NOTE: The front window glass is already arranged!

  • My family and I enjoyed our stay at Lara's apartment. Great location with easy access to all major sites.

    December 2013
  • Very good location. Lara was over one hour late from our meeting time, which was frustrating but somehow understandable. That waiting time we would rather have been shopping.. The apartment was nice and clean, but kind of worn-out, so don't expect any luxury :).

Neighbourhood is also quiet and relaxed with all the services you need.

  • The most positive thing going for this place is the location. Tube -Bayswater, cafe/restaurant/supermarket about 10mins walk away. Furnishing adequate though carpets a bit worn out.
The drawback was the poor communication by the host Lara who didnt respond to emails or text made before the trip or during which lead to misomms & our delays in getting the keys. It would have been worse without airbnb's help.
Also ensure you have extra clothes as washing is not an option since the washing machine is not working. We found the wifi connectivity poor & intermittent although TV was working well.
Overall, ok place if you need a strategic location to key points in London.

    November 2013
  • No frills in a great location with a great space...But that's it.

    Positives:
The place has a great layout. It's clean. Organized and really perfect if you're looking for a no frills place to sleep that's in a GREAT location.

    Issues:
That said, the front window has tape on it as the glass was broken out of it (window is 2ft x 1 ft so it's not small). It lets in the cold and the street noise, which isn't a big deal if you don't really care about that sort of stuff.

Additionally, if you're traveling from abroad and don't have a mobile phone, and you're with a group I'd skip this place as the fact she only has one key made our time stressful. We had no way to contact each other as there is no buzzer for the apartment. So you have to shout at the window. Good thing I'm psychic, and just "knew" people were close by. (I'm not joking, it worked amazingly well.)

The building itself is under some sort of half finished work. But that's why her price is reasonable.

    Overall?
You really get what you pay for. Price is reasonable. What she is offering is too.

About
You can expect a warm, hearty welcome when you get here!. Me? I am a young professional recently responding to the Holiday Let industry. I have lived in London all my life and love this beautiful city. I would love to tell you where to go to see the 'hidden London' that most tourists miss. I know some great places to eat and some really cool bars. I like to think of myself as a kind, generous person with an understanding nature. I love people and am interested from where they hale from. I look forward to meet you soon when you visit my lovely city. I can help you by providing you with a lot of information with what London has to offer so you can create your own itinerary for sightseeing and doing a great deal on a low budget. I offer you really comfortable places to stay, BUT I am not a hotel but a home from home. I look forward to you visiting. Lara : )
