Other Things to Note
Please do not stay here if you are loud and want to party all night. This is a quiet, residential neighborhood...I expect you to respect my neighbors and their property as much as my house and me. If you keep my neighbors up at night you are jeopardizing the whole airbnb system in New Orleans and elsewhere--please keep it quiet and respectable; it's important.
A dog and cat live next door; Guests must be courteous and willing to share courtyard, both are small and friendly. Leave left over food items in fridge and wash dishes upon leaving. Do not leave linens on floor. Put wet towels on towel hooks or in washing machine, do not use to clean up spills.
We were very comfortable here, and I'd love to go back and spend more time. The neighborhood is fantastic – with great market, cafe, restaurants all around the bock, near the wonderful park and the beautiful Esplanade Avenue.
This cottage is a gem! It is just as it appears in the photographs and it did not disappoint. It is close to the excellent and huge park, museum of art and sculpture garden and bus and trams run into town (but be prepared to wait a little, and perhaps take a taxi at night?). Lovely residential neighbourhood with pretty houses, excellent bars, restaurant, café and food shops. It makes a really good base for exploration of New Orleans if you are prepared to be a little out of the tourist centre. We have already passed on details to friends who might visit NOLA.
The house was exactly as described. It was clean when we arrived and had everything we needed for a nice stay. The location was perfect. Grocery stores and coffee shops in walking distance. Nice restaurants nearby. City park is just around the corner as well. Her dog Tater is also fun to play with. Thank you Renee!
I just returned from New Orleans with 3 of my buddies and it was a blast. We spent our first two nights at the retro cottage and it was perfect. The cottage was spacious, clean and comfortably slept all 4 of us. The Cottage is conveniently located by a number of restaurants, a small grocery store and on a bus route that brings you right downtown (a little over $10 for a cab ride to bourbon or Frenchman). My friends and I had a really nice talk with Renee the one afternoon while sitting in her backyard enjoying a couple of cold ones and she was awesome! She had plenty of ideas for restaurants and night life. We ended up going to see a performance that she recommended and it was great! I highly recommend the retro cottage, great location, clean, spacious and Renee is really laid back and accommodating. Thanks again Renee.
We have visited NOLA many times to visit our daughter but always stay somewhere to have our own space because we bring our little dog. Retro Cottage is in our absolute favorite location: walking distance to City Park, close to fairgrounds, near some of favorite restaurants and easy to get to everywhere else. The cottage was so much fun; had everything we needed, was clean and decorated with unique fun decor. Renee was a great hostess and her shop uptown is really fun to visit. We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful time at the Retro Cottage! There are great restaurants and a very nice grocery mart within a block or two. The bus stop is only a block away and it's 20 minutes down to the French Quarter. Renée's place was well stocked and clean. Lots of towels and comfy beds. We had the opportunity to meet Renée , her dog and the cat!
We had a great time in New Orleans and the cottage was really charming and wonderful. We had everything we needed to make full meals at home when we desired. Renee suggested one of the BEST places to eat that was one block from our cottage, Lliuzza's. Nice groceries, restaurants and bars are a quick walk from the front door and the area is nice and safe. We will definitely book this spot again in the future. Thanks for everything Renee!!
I am a photographer and antiques dealer. I have a shop, Rabbit Ears at 8225 Oak Street specializing in vintage furniture, art and fabulous finds; set dec./prop rental and sales for Hollywood South as well. I enjoy meeting people, socializing with friends, sharing good food, music, cajun, zydeco and swing dancing with a glass of wine on the side.
