Our house is in an area named Minna, Inverin which is on the coast road, R336, 26 kilometers from Galway,in Connemara, and the sea/beach is just at the end of our road. We have an organic garden and orchard, and we also have two cats and a dog. Our house is colourful, warm, and peaceful.
The room has a double bed, and plenty of storage with an open plan wardrobe and chest of drawers with a shard bathroom.
We'll provide tea, coffee, and toast for breakfast, but we're open to other arrangements by request.
As for local attractions, we are very near the airport that services the Aran islands and also near the port for getting a ferry to the islands. There are also great walks to be taken on the shore or up on the bog where we save the turf for winter fuel. There are plenty of friendly pubs, music, places to eat. a beach nearby for swimming, fishing from the shore or a chance to go on a boat from Spiddal which is just 13 kilometers away. There is a bus service which takes about 40 minutes, but occasionally faster depending on traffic.
Their bedroom/bathroom, dining, sunroom, garden
Generally we are here. Sometimes we may have a prior engagement that evening, when that happens we make arrangements for the guests to enter the listing. Once there we engage with them as much as they wish
The walk to the beach, the many small roads, named boreens, that lead to the beach and the bog . Spiddal Craft Centre is not far and has a great collection of of craft workers, you can watch them work and perhaps buy some of their produce
Loads of parking space. Public transport about six times a day each way however none at night
There is a film studio named SOLAS about a half mile from our house. When work is in production there we can provide accommodation at an agreed rate for longer stays for people who come and work on set . .
Lelia was very welcoming, had lovely conversation with us over some tea. She left us some breakfast in the morning, which was good.
We only stayed one night and only briefly interacted with our host Lelia, and her partner, as we arrived rather late in the evening. Still, we believe they would be nice and supportive hosts.
The room has a good size and the bed is comfortable. However, me and my partner felt that the appearance could be improved considerably with a little effort on their side. Currently, it feels more like coming home to a distant relative whose daughter is studying abroad and thus the room is currently not occupied. There are kids drawings at the wall, an old mirror with stickers on it and a bookshelf full with books and stuff. It does not appear as if the room is tidied up just for your as a guest.
Another negative point is the ease of how to get there. We do not know whether these streets have no name but we lost about 30 minutes looking for this place, and had to make costly international phone calls.
Last, while this clearly depends on the season you are there, the lovely city of Galway is not too far away, and provides B&B's that can compete with this offer quite easily (where we paid 55 EUR/night a day before, without breakfast). In contrast to this offer here, a standard B&B also offers you your very own bathroom. And while we would not say that this flat was downright dirty, it clearly is not particularly tidy or clean as well.
It is an amazing place. Lelia and Mike are lovely people. Absolute to recommend.
There were no problems to find the location on GPS as the coordinates of the house are set exactly in the description. We had a really friendly welcome. Mike and Lelia are very friendly and chatty people. Before arriving, we did not expect anything fancy for the price of the stay, but we have got what we wanted - nice sea view in the morning and a very comfortable bed. The house is decorated in a very artistic way, so it was interesting to see some unusual interior decorations. To conclude, we had a cheap and cheerful stay in Lelia`s place.
It was very well located, very easy to go on Aran Islands, even though the house was quite difficult to find. We had a nice stay.
We got to the house, which was difficult to find, even with a gps. We went to get some food (which is no where near the house) had some problems and were not able to return. Pretty views, house was kind of messy.
La fibre artistique est partout dans cette maison. Le chien nous a accompagné dans notre ballade.
I had a lovely time staying at Lelia's for 3 nights. I was looking for a place that would let me relax and rest. I was invited into Lelia's home very kindly over the Easter holiday weekend. Had a bit of difficulty finding the road to turn down but eventually got it. They are very close to the beach where I spent a day at and very close to the Arran island ferries and airport. It was lovely to chat and meet the family! Starting each morning with breakfast was also a real pleasure and appreciated.
Lelia and her husband were so sweet and accommodating during my one night stay at their home. The room was perfect, the colors and mood so relaxing with a view of the ocean from one window, and a view of the countryside from the other. Upon my arrival, Lelia showed me the room then told me the dog, Snowflake, was the perfect companion for a walk to the coast, which he was! It was so nice to get away from the city and be in the country. Her family are artists, so the house had art all around which was nice. In the morning after a lovely breakfast, Lelia gave me advice on where to do a bit of shopping and which roads to take on my trip north. I had a very lovely stay and would recommend her home to anyone!
Great stay, really friendly and nice host/family. It couldn't be better. Thanks so much!
Perfect location for going to the Aran Islands by air (highly recommended, airport next door, 8 min flight) or by ferry.
