  • Alexs place is very centrally located off the famous square Jemaa el Fna but off a quiet enough street so that you are not disturbed by the noise. overall we had an absolutely wonderful time in Morocco because of alex and his wonderful assistant (ibitssim- forgive my misspelling of your name). They were so helpful and assisted me in planning several tours. But, I was most impressed by the fact that when we arrived they provided us with a mobile phone with credit and said that if we had any problems or query to just ring. I highly recommend a stay at this simply beautiful riad with kind, caring and helpful staff.

  • Alex's riad was fantastic. Spent 4 relaxing nights there. Very close to the square and always felt safe walking back there alone at night. Roof terrace was great and the red room was always spotless and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay Alex and his assistant I would definitely stay again. Much love from New Zealand

  • Nice place, although a bit chilly and damp in winter, but that is true for most ryahds. Overall a good experience

  • It was one of the best stays in last years. Located 2 minutes from Jemaa el Fna Square, so I cant be closer :)

Very private (4 room) Riad, very nice decorated, with bathroom in room. Breakfast was very delicious with a lot o great food (pomegranate, fresh orange juice, etc..)

We also order one dinner and we get a big tajin with a lot of meat and vegetables, coffee and some other appetizer.

So... there is no more to say than just recommend to stay here :)

    November 2013
  • We stayed in Alex's riad in November 2013 and had the Red Room on the first floor with the king sized bed.
Check in and check out we're very easy, as Alex's assistant met us at Cafe de France on the main square (Jamaa el Fna) and walked us to the riad. The room itself was very spacious and clean with a HUGE but firm bed. The bathroom was small but clean and private, definitely adequate. Like the rest of the riad, the room was very tastefully decorated. We met Alex's father who explained that the family had bought the building as a shell and completely refurbished it over a year, with fantastic results.
We had breakfast at the riad twice and sampled a delicious array of breads, crepes, jams, and fruit salad loaded with pomegranate. Compared to similar breakfasts around the riad, the price is very competitive, however you could simply grab a pastry on the street more cheaply if that is more your style. The housekeeper who prepared breakfast was wonderful and ensured we had tea on the terrace on our first night (from which you can see snippets of the main square) and even took the time to teach us a few words of Arabic! She also did some laundry for us for 44 dirham - it came back washed, pressed and folded. Incredible.
Of note, Alex's assistant gave us a prepaid cell phone loaded with her's and Alex's numbers to use in case we had questions or got stuck and couldn't find our way home. We never had to do this, but it was fantastic to have the extra security.
The location of the riad is perfect. Down a quiet street off Jemaa el Fna, everything that Marrakech has to offer is within walking distance (including the new town if you like to walk like us, otherwise it's easy to get a taxi). The call to prayer at 5.30am is easily heard in the riad and woke us up most mornings, but I don't think this can be avoided in Marrakesh whilst still being walking distance from the major sites.
We would stay here again in an instant!

  • We had a very pleasant stay at Riad Saloua. We rented the yellow (which is the smallest/cheapest) room and this was actually big enough for a few days. The bed is kind of small and hard but for the price your paying it's good enough.

I would like to advise you to bring flipflops. The floor was a little bit sticky in my opinion (my boyfriend didn't seem to have troubles with this). I would have loved to be able to shower and walk around in the room on my flipflops.

We only had (Marrocan) breakfast once at the riad but this was very good. Alex is a friendly and relaxed host. Thank you for everything Alex!
