The Space

"Perfect room; exceptional mattress, beautiful bedding" on quiet hillside street overlooking central London near the buzzing arty and multicultural areas for Camberwell (with its Art College) and Peckham (with its bustling market).

Large, comfortable double room in a typically English home, a Victorian terrace house with original features.

The room has heaps of charm. On a level of its own, secluded and private. Fresh crisp bed linens, clean towels, tea and coffee making facilities, are provided with plenty of storage in a chest of drawers and antique wardrobe.

This period Victorian property has a vintage feel, with fire places and roll-top bath, but it also has mod cons including free wireless broadband and an ipod docking station and hairdryer in your room. Please note there is no television in the room but you can view on the internet using wifi.

We have spent a lot of time renovating and making the place homey, attractive and practical and hope you enjoy your stay here.

We have two shared bathrooms in the house. On the top floor next to your bedroom is a bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and sink. On the floor below is the main bathroom (which we tend to use) which has a roll-top bath, toilet, and sink. Guests are very welcome to use either.

For guests that choose to eat breakfast, at £5 a head, this is served downstairs in the dining room (please see photos).

Although we don't offer full kitchen cooking facilities (please see house rules) the kitchen is often available to sit in. We can heat up food for you to eat there.

We are a bit like a traditional English Bed and Breakfast and generally expect guests to be out and about in the day exploring and enjoying London. It gives us the chance to do some cleaning and make lots of noise without disturbing you. However there are exceptions to the rule and if you want to stay here one particular morning or afternoon please just let us know.

We love to meet our guests and hear how your journies have been and make sure that you are comfortable and enjoy your time in London. So we love to see you for a brief chat but we understand how important it is to have a sense of your own space to relax. We invite you to make yourself at home and ask us for any advice or anything that you need to get the most out of your trip.

We will give you our mobile number numbers for advice if and when you need it.

Camberwell is a Victorian residential area in Zone 2 (out of 6 Zone that make up London) mainly built one to two hundred years ago. It was originally a village with water wells and springs that attracted holidaymakers rest, relaxation and health reasons.

Now, Camberwell and Peckham are the places to see young artists in London. Its a vibrant and creative multicultural area with numerous galleries, great bars and amazing local places to eat; The Peckham Refreshment Room (modern tapas in a lovely bar near the station) Ganapati (Southern Indian cuisine), The Begging Bowl (great Thai food), The Crooked Well (Michellin Recommended Gastro Pub), The Victoria and The Peckham Rye (good gastropubs if you wish to eat local), Andersen and Co (a great place for a slice of cake), Melange (for French chocolates), Petitou (for a light lunch) and Manze's Pie & Mash shop (a London institution) are all less than 10 minutes walk from the house.

Peckham Market is also open every day and also seven minutes walk from the house. The South London Gallery is at the end of the road and always has good temporary exhibitions.
Enjoy the best of both world being in a vibrant local neighbourhood yet close to London's centre.

ABOUT US We are a TV director/producer and designer who like to stay creative and tuned in to all London has to offer. A British/Australian couple who have stopped our own travel for a few years to look after our young son who is almost two years old. He loves meeting guests and gets more mentions in our reviews than anything.
We having been hosting for over a year now and really enjoying meeting guests, and making friends.

There are buses from the end of our road to central London:
- 12 to London Eye, Big ben, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street
- 171 to Waterloo and Holborn
- 36/436 Victoria, Hyde Park, Marble Arch, Paddington

We are 700metres to two overground train stations that connect to the London Underground. They are
- Denmark Hill, for Victoria, Clapham Junction,
- Peckham Rye, for London Bridge, Shoreditch, Hoxton

Parking outside the house on the street is free. There are no parking restrictions. The house is also an ideal base to explore Brighton, Oxford, Stonehenge, and other parts of Southern or Central England.

We don't have a curfew at night. Come home whenever you like please just be quiet when you do. We tend not to hear people.
