Located in the heart of the city’s historic centre, the apartment offers a unique view to the largest green square of Athens, an unbeatable proximity to the archaeological marvels of the capital, and walking access to the most desirable neighbourhoods including the alternative Gazi area, the Kerameikos, Chinatown, many hip restaurants, intimate bars and coffee shops.
It boasts various desirable features such as a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living area, laundry and dryer facilities, high speed wi-fi and very tasteful furnishings.
This recently renovated apt, comfortably sleeps up to two guests in a private double master bedroom. The appartment has central heating in all rooms and an air conditioning unit in the living area. Ilias and Marc, Pilates, Yoga and Reiki teachers and Seleni, an adorable 3 years old female short-haired cat, will be happy to welcome you. Marc may also be booked for private cultural walks in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin Chinese, to discover in depth the heritage, arts and special local places of the Greek capital.
Located in the upcoming area of Metaxourgheio-Kerameikos the apt is found on the 3rd floor of an Art Deco building and its balcony offers a view over the park and its neoclassical silk factory now converted into the Municipal Art gallery.
Nothing you may wish to visit in Athens is far from this conveniently located apt as a 7 minutes walk will take you to the red metro line with direct access to the Acropolis area and museum. The green line is 12 minutes away on foot and connects directly to the port, as well as the northern trendy neighbourhoods of Athens. The blue line with a direct connection to the airport as well as the commercial and shopping areas of the city is only 13 minutes away.
The apt is within walking distance from all the archaeological sites and the pedestrian pathway linking the potters’ quarter, the Roman Agora, the classical cemetery of Kerameikos, the Sacred Way, the Platonic Academy and other ancient period monuments.
Gazi, the host of the gay nightlife of the capital, recommended for night clubbing and bar hopping is just a breath away from this quiet apartment. And if during the night you are surrounded by the best of entertainment life from ethnic restaurants to unique bars and vibrant night spots as well as the “off- Broadway” theatre scene, during the day you will find out that the area is the host of contemporary art galleries, the several art museums, the Greek Film Archive and various meeting points of the artists’ crowd.
If you have time you can visit the open air markets (food market one minute away on Tuesdays and antique sales on Sundays at Monastiraki only ten minutes away), taste great food at reasonable prices at the neighbouring eateries and join the crowds for coffee or tea at one of the nearby vibrant squares: literally, a step away are the Monastiraki, Thiseion, Psiri and Plaka areas and of course the Acropolis hill and museum.
All in all it is the ideal choice for a memorable central stay in Athens!

What a wonderful find in Athens! The minute I arrived in this neighborhood I could tell it was exactly where I should be. The apartment is warm and worldly - filled with things that capture Ilias and Marc's interests and passions. The bedroom is very comfortable and filled with light coming from the french doors that open to a balcony overlooking the city and the little park below. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom and has a great shower. Marc was traveling but Ilias is a wonderful host - he made arrangements to have me let into the apartment while he was at work and he spent time looking at maps and giving me ideas about where and what to explore which was all done so easily because of the Apartment's central location. One little tip, definitely pick up some sandwiches at Vasilius' San Francisco sandwich shop down the street to take with you while you explore!
A very nice place which immerses you in culture and puts you in awe of Ilias' and Marc's collection of global and historical knowledge. :-) the apartment was great for our purpose (3 work colleagues on business), was within walking distance to everywhere in Athens relevant to us, and had a great restaurant downstairs that we frequented. Ilias was very attentive and helpful to address our needs and requests!
We loved staying at Marc and Ilias': the location was great to explore Athens on foot and also to get from/to both the airport and the port of Piraeus with metro. Their place is lovely decorated and we really felt at home during the days we spent there. They were also very kind to give us information on the town and even some basic greek words!
Staying at Ilias and Marc's apartment was a great experience. I had the place for myself when Ilias and Marc were on holiday. Felt like I lived their lives for a few days. It is walkable distance to both the Gazi and the Monastraki area.
Our host was polite and helpful, the room was adequate, close to eating places and close to the hop on and of bus route
I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Ilias was great - communication before my stay was easy, and he even forgave me the mark I left on the bench with the coffee pot. The apartment was spotlessly clean, kitchen come complete with the essentials, the bedroom and living room open up on and over look the square below and balcony is a very civilised place to have a coffee in the morning.
The area itself is within walking distance to the tourist places and as many cool little bars and cafes as you could wish for in Ghazi and towards Monastiraki. And the square below has a great little courtyard restaurant and one of the friendliest bars I've ever had the pleasure to spend time in - Lost and Found (go in and say hi, you won't regret it).
I'm hoping to come back here as soon as I can - really cool place.
Ilias was great from the start. He is very responsive, and was there to welcome us to the listing. He gave us a quick tour of the listing, and had awesome recommendations; you have to go to Rakor for lunch or dinner. Great prices and great food. We were within walking distance of the Acropolis. I do not suggest walking around at night alone in the neighborhood, but we never felt unsafe in our group of 4. There are a couple nice places right near the listing for drinks/music. Enjoy!
Ilias is a journalist and Pilates instructor, he is passionated about philosophy and the dramatic arts, of which he writes plays.
Marc has settled again in Athens after having lived for about 15 years in Asia. He combines healing energy practices and courses, with conference walks of Athens.
