Lura and Bryan were fantastic hosts! First of all, the location is prime for everything that Bend has to offer. They are close to downtown, the house borders mountain biking and hiking trails and getting to Mt. Bachelor was easy and quick.
The House is a beautifully built and energy efficient home with fun features including a loft and a fire pole to slide down!
Lura provided a wealth of info about where to go for hiking, snow-shoeing, and breakfast places. We also enjoyed watching some TV together and chatting about hosting since I also have a place listed on Airbnb.
This place is my number one place to check availability next time I come back to Bend. I highly recommend staying with Lura and Bryan!
This place was AMAZING! An elegant home with an awesome view and only a quick drive away from downtown Bend. The room was perfect: very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and lots of amenities. We basically had the first floor of the house to ourselves, which included our own garage for parking, a huge, fully stocked bathroom, and a spacious living room with a view for miles.
Lura was an awesome host as well! She was very welcoming and easy to communicate with, she even had a fruit and chocolate plate awaiting us when we arrived! She gave us some great recommendations on where to eat and what to do around the area. And we had plenty of privacy and freedom to go about our weekend. If you are staying in Bend, THIS is the place to stay. We will 100% stay here again next time we're out in Bend! Thanks Lura!
I loved staying at Lura Wilhelm's house. Architecturally it's an interesting and beautiful house and nicely set up to host guests on the first floor. It's a convenient location for access to Mt Bachelor. Lura and Byran were gracious hosts, and I felt welcome and comfortable. I recommend this to people who would like a lodging with more interest and character than a generic hotel or motel. Dave E. Eugene 2/23/14
Bryan and Lura are genuinely warm, interesting, and vibrant people. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything needed for a great weekend of running and skiing.
Their home is beautiful and resonates with good vibes. It's also beautifully-situated by the trails and close to Bachelor. You will feel like a member of the family and have the privacy of your own floor. A gem!
Not a moment lost in comfort with Lura and her husband. From booking to leaving, they never broke their genuine kindness to make sure I'd feel just how sweet home can be away from home. If you're a skier, or lover of the great Bend outdoors, you've just found the raddest place in town. They don't gouge on the price, the sunsets and sunrises don't quit. They made sure I had a beer and fruit plate waiting upon my arrival, waxing table setup, even gave me training videos for a skate camp I was in the 'hood for. Chili night was a bonus. Their pets are so sweet you want to steal 'em. The room! Feels like Luke Skywalker designed it to train with Yoda - great views of the high desert. Could go forever on. Good hearts, these ones.
Lura was a wonderful host. She was clearly keeping an eye out for us because when she saw a car driving slowly around her home she called me to see if it was us, and that hospitality continued throughout our stay. Lura made sure we saw the beautiful buck outside the window soon after our arrival, and provided us many hand warmers to use at my boy friend's cyclocross race outside in the record low temperatures. The space is roomy, including room to relax on a sofa or chair and appreciate the floor to ceiling windows that provide a view of the natural surroundings (including snow-covered mountains during our December visit). The only thing I regret not trying out are the rock climbing studs in the wall of the bedroom that take you up to a loft.
Great house, in a perfect location, with a fantastic view. You pretty much have the downstairs to yourself coupled with the garage it makes for a very accommodating place to stay. Why anyone would pay more money for a simple hotel room is beyond me. The kitties and puppies are very friendly and is just a bonus for your stay.Won't hesitate to stay their again if and when the need arises.
I had a very nice stay at Lura's house with my friend. We were warmly welcomed by her husband, who was very pleasant and friendly. The house itself is fantastic, very interesting construction, beautiful location in a scenic forested area, close to the river, and extremely close to many natural attractions. Additionally it was only about a 7 minute drive to downtown Bend. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious, we pretty much had an entire floor of the house to ourselves, and there was a great bathtub with jets. All in all a great experience. Thanks!
This was a marvelous experience! Lura & Bryan were gracious hosts. The area surrounding the house is spectacular with stunning vistas and opportunities for hikes. Our stay was very comfortable thanks to the spacious accommodations and many amenities (coffee, tea, fruit, chocolate, microwave, fridge, toaster, etc. - too many to list). The ability to park in a garage (w/ opener) and have direct access to our room was very convenient. The proximity to everything (slopes, golf, shopping, downtown area), while being away from the press of the visitors makes this really special.
We definitely plan to be back!
We had a great stay in this amazing home. Lura's place is in a beautiful neighborhood, with lots of open space and vistas to gaze at while relaxing on the patio. It's also close to world class trails and Mt. Bachelor - while only being a short drive to town. Excellent private bathroom and shower as well!!
The Wilhelms are gracious hosts and interesting people. We couldn't have imagined a better experience. We'll be back!
