“A great place to visit, a great place to live.” This is how my lady described this lovely studio apartment in the historic Ilikai highrise hotel / condo plex, and I totally agree. This particular unit has a fun little 50s bachelor pad vibe that is stylish and clean, with a wonderful 120 sq ft balcony that overlooks the mountain side of Waikiki. Also includes a kitchen well-stocked with gear – we chose to visit the local Japanese grocery stores and stocked up so we could make our own breakfasts, eating them on the lovely balcony every morning – which was quite romantic. If I lived here, I would be on that balcony every day.
This apartment is right on the west side of Waikiki, where the beach officially starts - you’re 90 seconds from the beach. So many other hotels and bars and landmarks are within easy walking distance, including the Hilton Village next door. We also went all over the island in our rental car, so this was a perfect for a home base location. However, this is just to the edge enough that it’s away from any nightly activity: we slept quite well when we were there (even enjoyed waking up each morning so the soft coo of various birds).
There’s lots of parking options, running the gamut of the cost spectrum, but do ask Cyrille and Angela for the inside info on free parking located within the three block radius: we were there for 6 days, and I had about an 85% success rate finding the free nearby parking using there list of Best Spots.
The onsite restaurant – Cinnamons – has a water-marina view, and was surprisingly good. And don’t forget to check out the pool: it looks modest, but the water was amazing. It’s salt water, pumped in from the beach and treated. No matter what time of day, it was always warm and invigorating (I swam laps there in the morning).
Cyrille and Angela were lovely hosts, and even checked in with suggestion about special events that were occurring that week. We will definitely come back again, and are actually looking into other condos for sale in the building!
We totally enjoyed our stay here and give it a 5 STAR rating. Y ou will certainly enjoy your stay if you stay here when you are in Honolulu. I have to think that their other properties are equally as good.
Great communication, accommodating hosts, clean and tidy apartment. Bathroom is dated but generally a good place to stay for Waikiki.
The apartment was just as described. the building was fairly old but Honolulu seemed pretty dated anyway. The apartment was clean and the bed very comfortable. We thought the window coverings were flimsy as the sun comes in the morning very early and makes it hard to sleep. Liked the location but a bit noisy.
the apartment was very clean and well-equipped. angela and cyrille were incredibly responsive and accommodating, offering a late check-out without us even asking. parking in the public lot was more expensive than anticipated (it was on an hourly basis and there was no full-day option or in-and-out privileges), but still cheaper than valet rates. location is great for those who want to be centrally located without being in the crowded hustle of waikiki.
