Sim's Cozy Guesthouse is just opened in July 2014, equiped with brand new and efficient facilities. This room is belong to 56 years old building, so you can feel the nice and old traditional atmosphere. This room can accommodate 1-3 people but little bit squeezing for 3 people. And because this is an old building, the sound proof is not as good as a new house. We have better sound proof in our new built rooms(Family Loft, Loft Small, Luxurious Traditional,Japanese Homy).
We owners are Japanese-Singaporean English speaking couple, who are experienced with running a hostel for many years. We like traveling and know the road, also know how you feel when you are abroad. We are happy with helping people and giving information about living in Kyoto.

We owners family live in the house, so we meet everyday and we are happy to help with travel information.
Located near the Kiyomizu Temple, easy to access to the city center (buses all day) and Kyoto railway station. Nearest bus station is Umamachi. Nearest railway station is Kiyomizu Gojyo on Keihan line.
If you come from Kyoto station, find D2 bus stop in front of the Kyoto station bus terminal (right out side of central gate), and get on a bus No 206. After about 15min bus ride, get off at Umamachi bus stop and walk 400m up slope to the east from the Umamachi junction.
No smoking inside of building
We loved staying at Sims! It was a super convenient spot for sightseeing, near plenty of delicious food options and was a warm and cozy place to come home to after a big day of exploring. The room was simple but exactly what we needed/was described and the shared bathrooms were very clean and use-able! The staff were lovely and incredibly helpful giving recommendations for places to eat and sightsee. Would come back and stay again!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Sim's Cozy. First of all, the location is unbeatable. You can connect easily with the user friendly bus system or walk to amazing world heritage sites. Gion is very close too, for those interested in nightlife. If we come to Kyoto again, we will plan to stay here. We got one of the economy rooms, which is a tatami style Japanese room where you set up your own bed (futon) every evening. We found it to be very warm and cozy even in December, which is when we went. The bathrooms are newly renovated - well-designed and very clean. We found this to be a huge plus. Suzuki and the others who run the guesthouse were very helpful. He gave great suggestions for food and things to do. Because it's a guesthouse, you can also meet other world travelers. Great place!
Nice place, convenient location, friendly and helpful host, interesting guests, will stay here again if I go to Kyoto, recommended!
