About this listing
You want to visit Portlandia? This is the place! I should know, I worked on the show. Right between Belmont and Burnside- urban goats and chickens nestled between coffee shops and vegan bakeries. Well-equipped kitchen stocked with organic spices.
This is a 2-story townhouse in SE Portland- 5 minutes away from Downtown Portland, and 4 blocks from Belmont, 10 blocks from Hawthorne. Dozens of coffeeshops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance and several close bus lines. This is the heart of Portlandia! Backyard chickens, urban goats, hipsters on bicycles, this is the colorful part of Portland you've all heard of. Within 4 blocks away of here is a vegan grocery, at least 6 coffee shops that I can think of off hand, an urban winery, Thai food, and a yoga studio. You might never leave the neighborhood!
Clean but bohemian family home with 2 bedrooms upstairs- the one with my home office will remain closed but you will have full access to the rest of the townhouse. The guest bedroom has twin bunk beds. Colorful and playful decor mixes IKEA with hipster-bohemian. You will have a unique, SE Portland experience, just like staying at a friend's place. (But no pets and no inside smoking, please!)
NEW MATTRESSES AS OF AUG. 19, 2014!
If you don't feel like making coffee, wander down a few blocks to Sweetpea Bakery, a vegan bakery with an espresso bar inside. For a more substantial breakfast, I recommend walking to Cricket Cafe. You are located right between hot spots on Belmont and Burnside and stumbling distance of downtown. Trust me, I've stumbled it myself many a time.
PARKING- our building has a parking lot and I get one space. No assigned parking. If you have a car or motorcycle, just let me know and I will park on the street so you can use my space. Many of my travellers are backpacking and it's not an issue, so just make sure you tell me if you would like me to do this.
Feel free to use any pots and pans, spices, or perishables in the kitchen- just treat it like you would a friend's place. If you feel like you ate a lot, it's okay to slide a tip under the door of the other bedroom.
This is often a private rental when I am travelling for work as a musician. When I am in town, I am usually invisible- I work long shifts on the weekends, play out of town shows, and basically just stop by to shower and change. I always have my cell phone on me and check e-mail frequently, so feel free to hit me up with questions about the neighborhood. It's pretty awesome!
Everything except my bedroom.
Feel free to use anything you need- just act like it's your mom's house and be nice about it.
Interaction with Guests
You probably won't see me, but text me for advice on where to go out! Tell me what you're into- folk music, dubstep, I know most of the local promoters and performers.
This neighborhood has everything that makes Portland famous and I love it!
Yup, several close bus lines. Bike rentals at Clever Cycles on Hawthorne are a good way to experience the city as a Portlander would.
No inside smoking and no pets please. Please be respectful of the neighbors by keeping noise level down.
No extra guests, please!
I'm a musician living in SE Portland- basically the type of person made fun of on the show of Portlandia, which I actually worked on. I'm wearing the crew jacket as I type this.
