Description

The Space

The snow on Bachelor is amazing, and the Little House is busy! Just had a couple of days open in February (16-18). They won't last long. March and April are almost full! If you want a comfy apres ski (or whatever) place to stay, book the Little House today! Spring and summer weekends are almost gone (month of June is just about full) and fall is even starting book (!), so if you want to visit Bend in 2016, and you want to stay at the LH, book soon.

We so appreciate you taking the time to see what the Little House has to offer you. We are pleased to share our private enclave with you, and look forward to you being our guest. Our guests say "it's like coming home, to a really clean home" when staying at the Little House. In fact, one of the best compliments we can get is when guests choose to "stay home" at the LH because "it's so relaxing."

The Little House at Duck Hollow is a very private, self-catering guest house (with TONS of amenities) located in midtown Bend, Oregon. Your accommodations (576 sq. ft) include a private entrance and private parking for 2 cars (directly in front of the LH, not on the street), a full kitchen, with range, refrigerator and dining area, a library/2nd semi-private sleeping area for one person, and a spacious master bedroom. The Little House fits 3 people comfortably. The hot tub is just steps from your front door. All of this, and less than 5 minutes to downtown Bend (where every hour is happy hour and every night is Friday night).

The Little House is a whimsical, serene space in an edgy, diverse neighborhood ...and amazingly convenient to everything Bend and Central Oregon have to offer! There are many entertainment options within walking distance, and much more within a 5 minute drive to downtown Bend. Depending on your season of choice, the Little House is the perfect place to relax after skiing, climbing, running, walking, biking, fishing, birding, or whatever..... :)

We want your stay to be as calm, or as adventurous, as you want it to be. Let us know your interests, and we'll have recommendations available. We've been blessed with our guests, who say and write kind words about their experience at the Little House. And the best compliments we get are unsaid, unwritten, seen in their smiles. Pretty cool.

The Little House is within a fully-fenced area, so it is very safe and private. Robes are available for guests, as are shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, lotion, etc. Bring your fuzzy slippers in the winter.

We have a washer/dryer available in the main house for guests who stay at least 4 nights. It's in our mudroom/pantry (easily accessible to the LH). The main house at Duck Hollow is under constant construction, so the pantry can be a bit messy at times :)

Complimentary bottle of wine or beer included, along with juice, fresh fruit, instant oatmeal and snack bars. We do not provide bagels or pastries because no one was eating them :)

Be sure to make an inquiry regarding dates, if you happen to see an unavailable night (ex: one night in the middle of the week is blocked) . We are musicians, and sometimes block the days we are playing so we have timing options. If you're willing to arrive before 4P, we may be willing to open up that night. Just ask.

Duck Hollow is a proud contributor of Transient Room Tax, supporting regional tourism, firefighters and law enforcement.

Guest Access

Guests have their own private entrance to the Little House, and the hosts do not use the deck, courtyard or hot tub (other than for maintenance, sweeping the patio, or feeding the birds) while guests are at the LH.

Interaction with Guests

We love to meet our guests upon arrival to make sure they will be comfortable. We are available for questions or help, but do not hover. We live next door to the Little House, but try hard to never intrude on our guests' privacy. Truly, you'll barely notice us :)

The Neighborhood

Our up and coming neighborhood is eclectic and diverse, centrally located (Midtown), and just minutes from downtown and all major roadways. We have a great brewery (Crux), along with MANY restaurants, (including a very good little Salvadoran cafe, Esta Bien) within walking distance.

Getting Around

Read all of this if you're new to Bend:

The Little House is a 5 minute drive to downtown Bend. If you're not familiar with Bend, its parking challenges, or the downtown one-way streets, taxis are abundant and affordable, and highly recommended if you're planning a night on the town :)

Walking/biking to downtown: The Little House is on the East side of very busy 3rd Street, which is a main business artery going North - South. Getting across 3rd can be dicey, with the closest crossing light 3 blocks South. When you cross 3rd (eventually) your walk/ride to downtown continues to be adventurous (lack of sidewalks, utility work, etc.). Know where you're going, and I'll leave it at that :) 20 minute walk/10 minute ride.

Walking to Old Mill: Crossing light at Wilson and 3rd St, sidewalks all the way. Nice 15 - 20 minute walk, then you can shop, go to Ben & Jerry's after a nice lunch or dinner, see a movie, or walk next to the Deschutes River.

Other Things to Note

Dogs ($10 per night): Small, well-behaved dogs are allowed with prior okay from your hosts, and must be supervised at all times, even outside. Book your 4-legged family member as an extra guest, and then we'll discuss acceptance.

Toddlers ($10 per night): Parents bringing your young, self-mobile children, please be advised that they will be considered an "extra person" when booking (2 adults + 1 toddler = 3 guests). Also, please bring extra towels, pillows, bedding, etc. for your little ones. We are not child-free, and are not child-proof. Toddlers must be watched at all times. For safety and sanitary reasons, NO children under age 7 are allowed in the hot tub.

House Rules

Respect our neighbors, respect our stuff.

Smoking (of anything) is allowed outside only. Just be cool :)

We like to be here when our guests arrive. We'll ask that you give us a good guesstimate on arrival time, update us with any changes, and call (voice2voice) when you're a half hour out. Be prepared for a pop quiz :)

Please be judicious with use of wine, food, oils and lotions around the bedding.

Please let us know if you will be having guests, just so we know who we're sharing space with :) The booking guest will be responsible for advising their guests of the House Rules.

We take care of bedding, towels, trash, etc. Please wash your dishes and clean the counters and microwave, if needed. Thanks!

We are environmentally conscious. Conservation, composting, and recycling are part of the experience.
