About this listing
Our guests consistently say "it's like coming home...to a really clean home" when staying at the Little House. Other words used: "our sweet retreat," "romantic," "serene," "private paradise," and our new favorite "the best airbnb deal in Bend!" Quiet, relaxing, and comfortable, the Little House (with a sparkling clean hot tub) is your private sanctuary close to everything in Bend!
Fall has arrived, and it is awesome! September and October are full! November and December are filling up fast. FYI: we'll wait until the end of November to change prices starting in January, so you've got a little time to book 2016 at current nightly rates.
We so appreciate you taking the time to see what the Little House has to offer you. We are pleased to share our private enclave with you, and look forward to you being our guest. Most of our guests say "it's like coming home" when staying at the Little House. In fact, one of the best compliments we can get is when guests choose to "stay home" at the LH because "it's so relaxing."
The Little House at Duck Hollow is a fully-furnished, self-catering guest house located near the heart of Bend, Oregon. Your accommodations (almost 600 sq. ft) include a private entrance and parking for 2 cars (directly in front of the LH, not on the street), a full kitchen, with range, refrigerator and dining area, a library/2nd semi-private sleeping area for one person, and a spacious master bedroom. The Little House fits 3 people comfortably. The hot tub is just steps from your front door. All of this, and less than 5 minutes to downtown Bend (where every hour is happy hour and every night is Friday night).
The Little House is a whimsical, serene space in an edgy, diverse neighborhood ...and is amazingly convenient to everything Bend and Central Oregon have to offer! There are many entertainment options within walking distance, and more just a short drive away. Depending on your season of choice, the Little House is also the perfect place to relax after skiing, climbing, running, walking, biking, fishing, birding, or whatever..... :)
We want your stay to be as calm, or as adventurous, as you want it to be. Let us know your interests, and we'll have recommendations available. We've been blessed with our guests, who say and write kind words about their experience at the Little House. And the best compliments we get are unsaid, unwritten, when our guests prefer to relax at the LH rather than go out for the day. Pretty cool.
The Little House is within a fully-fenced area, so it is very safe and private. Robes are available for guests, as are shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, lotion, etc.
We have a washer/dryer available in the main house for guests who stay at least 4 nights. It's in our mudroom/pantry (easily accessible to the LH), which also holds construction stuff, so can be a little disheveled at times.
Complimentary bottle of wine or beer included, along with juice, fresh fruit, instant oatmeal and snack bars. We do not provide bagels or pastries because no one was eating them :)
Be sure to make an inquiry regarding dates, if you happen to need an unavailable night (ex: one night in the middle of the week is blocked) . We are musicians, and sometimes block the days that we are playing so we have timing options. If you're willing to arrive before 4P, we may be willing to open up that night. Just ask.
Duck Hollow is a proud contributor of Transient Room Tax, supporting regional tourism, firefighters and law enforcement.
Guests have their own private entrance to the Little House, and the hosts do not use the deck, courtyard or hot tub (other than for maintenance, watering the garden, sweeping the patio, or feeding the birds) while guests are at the LH.
Interaction with Guests
We love to meet our guests upon arrival to make sure they will be comfortable. We are available for questions or help, but we do not hover. We live next door to the Little House, but try hard to never intrude on our guests' privacy. Truly, you won't even notice us :)
Our up and coming neighborhood is eclectic and diverse, centrally located (Midtown), and just minutes from downtown and all major roadways. We have a great brewery (Crux), along with MANY restaurants, (including a very good little Salvadoran cafe, Esta Bien) within walking distance.
Taxis are abundant and affordable, and highly recommended if you're planning a night on the town :)
www.letitridebend.com has electric bike rentals, plus a new pedicab service. Check out Hutch's Bicycles (a 10 minute walk north from the Little House) for regular bike rentals.
Other Things to Note
Dogs ($10 per night): Small, well-behaved dogs are allowed with prior okay from your hosts, and must be supervised at all times. Book your 4-legged family member as an extra guest, and then we'll discuss acceptance.
Toddlers ($10 per night): Parents bringing your young, self-mobile children, please be advised that they will be considered an "extra person" when booking (2 adults + 1 toddler = 3 guests). Also, please bring extra towels, pillows, bedding, etc. for your little ones. For safety and sanitary reasons, NO children under age 7 are allowed in the hot tub.
Respect our neighbors, respect our stuff.
Smoking (of anything) is allowed outside only.
Please be judicious with use of wine, oils and lotions around the bedding.
Please let us know if you will be having guests, just so we know who we're sharing space with :)
We take care of bedding, towels, trash, etc. Please wash your dishes and clean the counters and microwave, if needed. Thanks!
We are environmentally conscious. Conservation, composting, and recycling are part of the experience.
About the Host, Debby And Kevin
We are easy-going baby boomers. Kevin is involved in environmental and social issues, and Debby is a mental health counselor. We moved from Colorado to Bend in order to be closer to the outdoor activities we adore (skiing, kayaking, hiking, biking, etc.). We've made lifestyle decisions that give us more opportunity to choose play over work, so we consider ourselves quite brilliant :)
We love to laugh, and have an optimistic view of living life. If there's a silver lining, we'll find it.
Our goal is to share what we know about the Central Oregon experience, and guide our guests, when asked. Bend and the surrounding areas have everything you need to experience fun, excitement, and serenity. We have it all!
