My guests tell me every time how well placed my apartment is. A short walk to get to the places they like to check out, and the view from the balcony is spectacular. A short walk to VGH, two bedrooms and all the amenities from home.
1 Bedroom available in a 850sq ft apartment in the Fairview Slopes area. The apartment is what I would call awesome, complete with dishwasher and in-suite laundry, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, and lots of free parking on the (website hidden) and Internet are available as well. There is a pullout couch available if needed, but only for short stays.
The Fairview Slopes is aptly named because the area sits at the top of a hill overlooking downtown. One block over from my house has the best view of the city possible, with the exception of being on Grouse Mountain.
I've styled the apartment according to nice Ikea tastes. The carpet is a lovely 70's style off-pink, and the banisters and a lovely clashing forest green.
As a traveler, the apartment is well located to get to most places... 5min walk to Granville Island which is a great place to check out in the city. It is a major hub of culture with a farmers market, theater, and arts, as well as great restaurants on the water.
The room is 10-15min walk to groceries at Cambie, 5min walk to a Shoppers Drug Mart, 30 second walk to a Beer and Wine store (very convenient). At Cambie is the Skytrain (subway) and there is a bus stop to downtown on my street corner.
There are tonnes of restaurants on my street (Broadway) to explore, including all you can eat sushi for cheap, and Tojo's sushi for the most expensive of tastes (it is said that Tojo actually invented the California Roll!)
Hope you enjoy your stay!
The bedroom, laundry machine / dryer, kitchen, internet, printer. Basically, the entire apartment is open to you. Some food stuffs are ok to share, like rice for example, or butter, but please buy your main food items. I have a 2 sets of keys for the apartment, and one key for the room which has a key-lock on it for privacy if you need. Just don't lock yourself out! :)
One thing to note, the building and my apartment has a lot of stairs to deal with. Some guests have felt this was a challenge. There are stairs to get to the front door, and also in the apartment, the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.
Interaction with Guests
I am a 30-something that is very easy going. I am a software developer that often works from home, but like to get out as much as possible. If I have time, could also show you around a bit if you want a bit of a guide. I used to volunteer for Hostelling International as the host for pub crawls in Vancouver, and I have done a bit of back-packing in my day.
Walking distance to everything I need: transit is 1min away, i'm 15min away from groceries or granville island. There's coffee shops, or restaurants or bars all around. If you like yoga, I'm also 15min walk from 3 great yoga studios.
there's public transit all over the place. the 9, the 99 express are good choices to get to the skytrain (subway). You can also just walk to it in about 15min.
Other Things to Note
The living room couch is a pull-out bed (a double) for extra guests.
You have full access to everything in the apartment: kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms. Breakfast food is generally included, like bread and condiments and stuff. Feel free to help yourself to whatever is in the fridge. I try to stock it up a bit with basics before a guest arrives.
Standard clean up after yourself rules apply. Please put the dishes in the dishwasher, and put away the food, etc. Please do not put my knives in the dishwasher tho, since it dulls the blades. These you have to wash by hand.
No crazy dance parties at 3am please, unless I am invited.
At the end of your stay, I would ask that you strip the bed and leave the sheets by the laundry machine. I will wash them, tho I won't complain if you put the sheets through the wash / dry cycle. Just don't leave the sheets in the washer wet... all or none, please.
There's a map of the world in the living room. Please leave a pin of where you are from on it!
And lastly, please make sure to give me a review as I build my online profile. Hope you have a great stay!
We loved our stay at Greg's! We were a large group of ladies in Vancouver for a conference on Granville Island. We loved that we could walk there in 15 minutes, and enjoy the flowers, and sea wall along the way. Greg made us feel so welcome and accommodated our needs with great hospitality. The beds are very comfortable, and the condo was very clean with lovely thick towels. Although the kitchen is small, it is well equipped and very functional. Lots of shopping, coffee houses and restaurants a short walk away. We really hope to be able to stay at Greg's again in the future!
Stayed for a week in Feb. Listing was exactly as described and Greg was a great host. He made us feel very welcome in his home. This was one of the quietest locations we have ever stayed at in Vancouver. The bed was comfy too. Great (email hidden)ose to Granville Island, and West Broadway with numerous restaurants to choose from. We would highly recommend Greg's apartment and as we come to Vancouver often, we will be staying with him again..
Greg was a great host and immediately made me feel welcome. The townhouse and room were as described, and the bed comfortable. Close to Broadway, there is a lot to eat and drink in the area and downtown is very accessible via public transit (10 mins) or even walk-able (30mins). Overall, a great experience and wouldn't hesitate booking here again.
Greg was very friendly and accomodating. His place worked out very well for my son and I.
The room and the appartment were very clean. Greg was a great host, giving advices for the tourists that we were. Great location also close to buses to go downtown. I recommend Greg's place!
Greg's home was exactly as described and had all the amenities we needed. All the little details of his home made our stay incredibly worthwhile. It was in a great quiet location. We would definitely stay here again the next time we return to Vancouver.
Greg's place is the perfect spot for discovering Vancouver. We stayed with the four of us for New Years Eve and had a great time. The apartment is convenient and very comfortable. The subway is a short walk and brings you downtown in minutes. Greg was very easy to communicate with, the perfect host!

I'm a total Apple-phile, but I appreciate the Windows platform. I saw the Matrix 6 times in the theater... I'm a bit of a nerd that way. I love sushi, and generally eat out a lot. Have a girlfriend and lots of friends, so I'm out a lot for dinners or drinks.
I'm pretty clean, but I'm not anal about it.
Travelled to Australia, Japan, England, Ireland, Germany, almost the entire East Coast of North America, California a little bit. Have a summer place and winter place I like to go to on my regular vacation days in the year.
