While the rest of the arrangement brought back memories of a hostel I stayed in when visiting Spain in my early 20's, the room was very clean and comfortable. There was a good internet connection and basic amenities provided such as towels and hairdryer and the kitchen was well equiped. The location was perfectly suited to attend a course at the Hallam conference centre. The only downside was a loud humming noise coming from a ?vent below the room which did stop by 11:30 pm most nights. A great place to stay if you're going to be out most evenings.
Paula's place is a great economical way to get the most out of London. It is in a real trendy area with outdoor cafes, very close to the Tube (Metro) and in walking distance to lots of sites in London. If your goal is to get out and enjoy London, I think this simple place is perfect. It is on the third floor, where you have to go downstairs for the bathroom/shower, but for me the price and location beats that hassle.
Is a good deal if you're looking for an inexpensive home base from which to explore. The location is nice - Marylebone is a pretty neighborhood with some nice restaurants and lots of shopping. It is close to the Central line (Bond street station) and the parks. I walked a lot and frequently didn't need to use the Tube to get home. Only drawbacks are a slightly uncomfortable bed (springs!), and a shared/small bathroom which, for me, happened to be down a flight of stairs. One final drawback is the relatively early check out time (10am). Otherwise I highly recommend - would stay again especially if budget is an issue.
