I live in a 1916 charming home that is located in one of the best neighborhoods in town. The Atwood neighborhood is located on the near east side of Madison and has some of the best cafe's, restaurants and taverns.
One of the three rooms is available with access to a shared bathroom that has a claw foot tub. The room is quaint with a private porch and a view to the neighborhood. There is a full size bed with fresh sheets and clean towels in the bathroom. I have a French press and coffee that you are welcome to make.
The kitchen was recently redone and is stunning and spacious. I'd prefer to have only one person or a couple. Though I'm happy to accommodate a few more! We can always blow up an air mattress or someone can sleep on the couch. Street parking is available, however you're welcome to pull up along side the house in the alley way.
I have a young Airedale Terrier. He's over a year now but still very puppy! Since he's a terrier he doesn't shed, but he does bark at dogs walking by and is a bit mouthy. It doesn't hurt by any means, he's just excited to meet and greet you! If you aren't a fan of dogs, my place probably isn't the spot for you.
The Barrymore Theater is right around the block, two of my favorite restaurants in town Lao Laan-Xang and the Alchemy are also about a block away. There's the best chocolate shop right by the theater as well. So many amazing places in walking distance! I haven't mentioned Williamson Street yet, but that's also one of my favorite areas that is very close. A little further past that is the Capitol and then the UW campus, which are in biking distance and only a short bus ride away.
You'll see on the map there are lakes on either side of where I live; Lake Mendota to the west and Lake Monona to the east. The summer months are my absolute favorite as there is always something to do. Madison is great for biking as well! The bike path is near by as well as the bus line.
If you want to bike but don't have a bike or can't bring your bike with you, Madison B Cycle is a great way to get around. There are many stations with bikes all around town. One is just down the block from me. I also have a towny bike you're welcome to cruise around on.
If you'd like to stay with me, or rent the whole house, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and why you're coming to Madison. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Guests have access to the whole lower level being the kitchen, dining room and living room. During the nice weather months, the backyard is a lovely place to sit in the morning and drink coffee or in the evening under the party lights. The bedroom at the end of the hall is where guests sleep. The bathroom is right next to it with fresh towels and travel soaps and shampoos if you need them. The guest room also has a balcony!
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I'm in and out during the week and on the weekends. My year old Airedale wakes me up around 7am so we'll usually take off then for the dog park or a long walk so we don't disturb you. I'm always up for socializing with my guests but if you prefer to not, that's fine with me.
Other Things to Note
I am a licensed bed and breakfast (without the breakfast) in the City of Madison. Nobody opposed my decision to become a bed and breakfast during the public hearing held with the city and I passed the health inspection. I'm good to go!
I'm here to answer any questions you have. I just ask that while you're a guest that you treat my place like your own. One last request is that you please don't smoke on the property.
My girlfriends and I drove up to Madison for a quick weekend trip and we could not be more thrilled with our choice in Beth. Her home is absolutely beautiful [we're obsessed] and she was an incredible host. Very welcoming, tons of amazing recommendations that we LOVED and truly made us feel like friends. We love her and would recommend staying with her and Geoffrey [her adorable, friendly and playful pup] to anyone looking to explore Madison. Her neighborhood was a perfect jumping off point for a walking tour of cool shops and restaurants and a quick Uber or drive from downtown. We only wish we'd had more time there! She provided a HUGE list of amazing recommendations, the place was adorable and spotless, bed was cozy and the trip was perfect. othing but positive things and good vibes to send Beth's way- stop your search and stay here.
Wonderful host and very beautiful house. The room was comfortable and the dog is very sweet and easy to be around. The house is also located close to nice restaurants, bars, and the downtown area with the state capital and museums. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!
Beth was very welcoming, easy-going, and great at communicating with us. We found her house to be charming, very tidy, and in a great location. The neighborhood has many great amenities to offer, all within a short walk. It was a great place to stay!
I had a great experience staying with Beth! She is great - warm, friendly, and very welcoming. Her house is adorable and is in a great neighborhood. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, cute and comfortable - very pleasant all around!
Wonderful experience with Beth and her pup. We were extremely comfortable and felt very welcome. Beth lives in a great neighborhood in Madison - we always love patronizing the local businesses and bars in this area. We will certainly be back to stay with Beth. Thank you!
Beth was a terrific host. Super friendly. Quick & easy communication before trip & during stay. Graciously accommodated our very late arrival. She was home off & on during our stay and we enjoyed our brief encounters with her. It's a pretty neighborhood of big old houses and we had fun walking to a few of Beth's favorite coffee shops/cafes. Beth's home is uncluttered yet very cozy. The bedroom is a good value. It was cold when we were there so Beth had extra layers of blankets on the comfy bed. We slept very well. You do share the one shower with Beth, but it was a non-issue when we were there as she was up and out very early both mornings. There was a nice peaceful energy in her home and we felt completely comfortable there. We picked this because it was close to our daughter's house. We'd definitely stay there again next time we visit. Recommended if you're looking for a place to land on this side of town.
All was very nice. Clean, welcoming, comfortable. Wonderful dog, too. Neighborhood quiet and seemed safe.
I'm a pretty laid back individual and love meeting new people! I love traveling around the world, but have found my permanent home to be in Madison, Wisconsin where I was born and raised. Madison is full of the nicest most down to earth people. I love to laugh and eat good food.
