About this listing
My home is located in one of the best neighborhoods in Madison. The near east side is full of great places to eat, drink and shop. I'm on the Isthmus, between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota, and you'll be a quick drive or bike ride downtown.
I live in a 1916 charming home that is located in one of the best neighborhoods in town. The Atwood neighborhood is located on the near east side of Madison and has some of the best cafe's, restaurants and taverns.
One of the three rooms is available with access to a shared bathroom that has a claw foot tub. The room is quaint with a private porch and a view to the neighborhood. There is a full size bed with fresh sheets and clean towels in the bathroom. I have a French press and coffee/tea that you are welcome to make.
The kitchen was recently redone and is stunning and spacious. I'd prefer to have only one person or a couple. Though I'm happy to accommodate a few more! We can always blow up an air mattress or someone can sleep on the couch. Street parking is available, however you're welcome to pull up along the side the house in the alley way.
I have a young Airedale Terrier. He's two years old now but still very much a puppy! Since he's a terrier he doesn't shed, but he does bark at dogs walking by and is a bit mouthy. It doesn't hurt by any means, he's just excited to meet and greet you! If you aren't a fan of dogs, my place probably isn't the spot for you.
The Barrymore Theater is right around the block, two of my favorite restaurants in town Lao Laan-Xang and the Alchemy are also about a block away. There's the best chocolate shop right by the theater as well. So many amazing places in walking distance! I haven't mentioned Williamson Street yet, but that's also one of my favorite areas that is very close. A little further past that is the Capitol and then the UW campus, which are in biking distance and only a short bus ride away.
You'll see on the map there are lakes on either side of where I live; Lake Mendota to the west and Lake Monona to the east. The summer months are my absolute favorite as there is always something to do. Madison is great for biking as well! The bike path is near by as well as the bus line.
If you want to bike but don't have a bike or can't bring your bike with you, Madison B Cycle is a great way to get around. There are many stations with bikes all around town. One is just down the block from me.
If you'd like to stay with me, or rent the whole house, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and why you're coming to Madison. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Guests have access to the whole lower level being the kitchen, dining room and living room. During the nice weather months, the backyard is a lovely place to sit in the morning and drink coffee or in the evening under the party lights. The bedroom at the end of the hall is where guests sleep. The bathroom is right next to it with fresh towels and travel soaps and shampoos if you need them. The guest room also has a balcony!
There's a ping pong table in the garage you're welcome to use!!! It's a new addition : )
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I'm in and out during the week and on the weekends. My year old Airedale wakes me up around 7am so we'll usually take off then for the dog park or a long walk so we don't disturb you. I'm always up for socializing with my guests but if you prefer to not, that's fine with me.
Other Things to Note
I am a licensed bed and breakfast (without the breakfast) in the City of Madison. Nobody opposed my decision to become a bed and breakfast during the public hearing held with the city and I passed the health inspection. I'm good to go!
I'm here to answer any questions you have. I just ask that while you're a guest that you treat my place like your own. One last request is that you please don't smoke on the property.
Beth is fantastic, and her place is a wonderful one to stay in if you're going to Madison. We had a scheduling issue and she was quick to accommodate us and was always able to be reached... She even made her home available to us while she was out of town! So though I didn't get to meet her, I was truly impressed with her communication and accommodation. The house is also beautiful, well-appointed and in a great location. We loved walking around peaceful Madison and seeing the lakes. We had a very classic night sitting on Beth's super-great patio drinking whiskey and playing a tabletop game. Truly, if you're looking for an awesome private room in Madison, contact her!
Beth was still a wonderful host even though she had to head out of town after our first night. She made sure we knew where everything was and her suggestion list was wonderful. We wish we could have spent more time with her and her sweet puppy, Geoffrey, but thoroughly enjoy her tastefully decorated home and the fun urban neighborhood it is located in.
Great neighborhood and a quiet and clean room. I liked my stay there. I would recommend staying with Beth
Beth (and Geoffrey!) were excellent hosts and greeted us at her wonderfully decorated home right off the bike path from downtown Madison. The area was very nice, with many small shops and restaurants and provided fantastic access to the city. Amenities were fantastic, Beth even provided a bike map and list of the area's best local businesses. Would definitely stay again!
Beth's home was beautiful! The room was perfect and even had a balcony. Waking up to the cool breeze and birds chirping was just wonderful. Beth lives in a great location near Willy St. in the Atwood neighborhood. There are a bunch of great restaurants and shops in close walking distance. Next time I am in Madison, I will make sure to stay with Beth. Highly recommend!
Beth was a fantastic host. Her house was extremely comfortable and very beautiful. She was also very flexible, even with our last min booking, and very responsive by email. The Atwood neighborhood is a very fun area to explore, and downtown was only a 5$ Uber away! I would stay again, and highly recommend it to others.
What can I say? The moment I stepped into Beth's home I was amazed. Her home gave off a homey feel, where I felt relaxed. There was space to relax, space to be busy. The decorations complimented each other and was not overwhelming. Beth was a sweet lady who was willing to provide me and my friend space when we were rushing to attend to my friend's wedding (Asia time tendencies), and when free spend hours chatting with us. Prior to the trip, she was easily reached and made many efforts to ensure our arrival and stay was a delightful one. She also gave us great recommendations about to dos, explores and eats at Madison. Let's not forget her sweet friendly pal Jeffrey! Jeffrey is such a cutie, amid very friendly at times. We had a lot of fun having him accompany us. I highly recommend any person who is looking for a place to stay in Madison to stay at Beth's, she is an amazing host.
Need more? My friend whom is often skeptical to the whole sharing your home/car (uber, lyft) network, with a lot of convincing shared his first Airbnb experience with me at Beth's! From the moment he stepped in the door till the day we left, all I heard from him was his positive comments about the experience, how amazing of a host Beth was and the beauty of the house's layout and construction designs. After this experience he told me he will give Airbnb a try in the future! Thank You Beth! Guess it is time for me to cash in on that referral discount from Airbnb?
About the Host, Beth
I'm a pretty laid back individual and love meeting new people! I love traveling around the world, but have found my permanent home to be in Madison, Wisconsin where I was born and raised. Madison is full of the nicest most down to earth people. I love to laugh and eat good food.
