The Space

I live in a 1916 charming home that is located in one of the best neighborhoods in town. The Atwood neighborhood is located on the near east side of Madison and has some of the best cafe's, restaurants and taverns.

One of the three rooms is available with access to a shared bathroom that has a claw foot tub. The room is quaint with access to a porch and a view to the neighborhood. There is a queen size bed with fresh sheets and clean towels. I (email hidden) that you are welcome to use.

The kitchen was recently redone and is stunning and spacious. I'd prefer to have only one person or a couple. Though I'm happy to accommodate a few more! We can always blow up an air mattress or someone can sleep on the couch. Street parking is available. It's usually pretty easy to find a spot close by.

I have a young Airedale Terrier. He's only a few months old, so he's learning, but I'm really excited to welcome him into my home. Since he's a terrier, he doesn't shed.

The Barrymore Theater is right around the block, two of my favorite restaurants in town Tex Tubb's Taco Palace and the Alchemy are also about a block away. There's the best chocolate shop in Madison and a Laotian/Thai restaurant as well. So many amazing places in walking distance! I haven't mentioned Williamson Street yet, but that's also one of my favorite areas that is very close. A little further past that is the Capitol and then the UW campus, which are in biking distance and only a short bus ride away.

You'll see on the map there are lakes on either side of where I live. Lake Mendota to the west and Lake Monona to the east. The summer months are my absolute favorite as there is always something to do. Madison is great for biking as well! The bike path is near by as well as the bus line.

If you want to bike but don't have a bike or can't bring your bike with you, Madison B Cycle is a great way to get around. There are many stations with bikes all around town. One is just down the block from me. (website hidden)

If you'd like to stay with me, or rent the whole house, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and why you're coming to Madison. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Guest Access

Guests have access to the whole lower level being the kitchen, dining room and living room. During the nice weather months, the backyard (email hidden) to sit in the morning and drink coffee or in the evening under the party lights. The bedroom at the end of the hall is where guests sleep. The bathroom is right next to it with fresh towels and travel soaps and shampoos if you need them. The guest room also has a balcony!

Interaction with Guests

I work from home so I'm in and out during the week and on the weekends. My year old Airedale wakes me up around 7am so well usually take off then for the dog park or a long walk. I'm always up for socializing with my guests but if you prefer to not, that's fine with me.

  • I stayed at Beth's house for 8 days and felt very comfortable and welcome. She greeted me with the words, "my home is your home" and so it was. The house is clean, tidy and very convenient to the east side of Madison. I loved her decorating, the easy conversation with her but most of all I loved her dog. I'm sure Beth is okay with me saying that.

  • I stayed with Beth for a few nights while in town for research this fall. She has a lovely old house, which she's decorated beautifully. The whole place is meticulously tidy, too (although a little drafty - it was unseasonably cold when I was visiting). Beth was a friendly, welcoming host. She was happy to share her kitchen and also didn't mind me coming and going and spending nights at home working, which I really appreciated. Her puppy, Jeffrey (Geoffrey?), is super cute and playful, although I'd be careful not to leave anything lying around that he might munch on. Overall, I had a great time in Madison, and would enthusiastically recommend Beth as a host.

  • Beth was an awesome host! She was kind enough to let my girlfriends and I stay here for the weekend. We had a great time and the location was awesome. Close to restaurants and bars and a cheap cab away from downtown. Hope to be back soon!

  • Beth is a friendly, easy going and accommodating host and I enjoyed getting to know her and her dog, Jeffery! My room was private and comfortably spacious with walk-in closet and two antique drawers. It is a lovely house with full of colors, beautiful furniture and art work. Not to mention, it is located in a very convenient area where great restaurants are in a walking distance. Thanks, Beth for making my stay comfortable and pleasant.

  • Beth's house is super cute and is in a very cool neighborhood. It is nearby lots of great restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance and is within a block of the bus. There is neighborhood parking as well, if you have a car.

The bedroom is in the back of the house and has its own east-facing balcony. The bed is comfortable but is very squeaky. The bathroom is shared and has a claw foot tub/shower. The sink in the bathroom doesn't drain well, which can cause quite a bit of splash back when washing your face.

The kitchen is pretty big and you can cook and eat-in, but the local restaurants are so good that I ate out while I stayed there.

The wi-fi signal is strong throughout the house.

Overall, great stay and Beth was very nice. The dog was also very cute and rambunctious.

  • I stayed in Beth's home for 3 nights. She was friendly and made me feel very welcome. The bedroom and bath were clean and neat. All of this made for a very comfortable, pleasant stay. I was out and about most of the time, so having a nice quiet place to come back to each night was great. Her dog is lively and very sweet, and Beth is training him to be the perfect canine gentleman. Highly recommended.

I'm a pretty laid back individual and love meeting new people! I love traveling around the world, but have found my permanent home to be in Madison, Wisconsin where I was born and raised. Madison is full of the nicest most down to earth people. I love to laugh and eat good food.
