My home is located in one of the best neighborhoods in Madison. The near east side is full of great places to eat, drink and shop. I'm on the Isthmus, between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota, and you'll be a quick drive or bike ride downtown.
I live in a 1916 charming home that is located in one of the best neighborhoods in town. The Atwood neighborhood is located on the near east side of Madison and has some of the best cafe's, restaurants and taverns.
One of the three rooms is available with access to a shared bathroom that has a claw foot tub. The room is quaint with a private porch and a view to the neighborhood. There is a full size bed with fresh sheets and clean towels in the bathroom. I have a French press and coffee/tea that you are welcome to make.
The kitchen was recently redone and is stunning and spacious. I'd prefer to have only one person or a couple. Though I'm happy to accommodate a few more! We can always blow up an air mattress or someone can sleep on the couch. Street parking is available, however you're welcome to pull up along the side the house in the alley way.
I have a young Airedale Terrier. He's two years old now but still very much a puppy! Since he's a terrier he doesn't shed, but he does bark at dogs walking by and is a bit mouthy. It doesn't hurt by any means, he's just excited to meet and greet you! If you aren't a fan of dogs, my place probably isn't the spot for you.
The Barrymore Theater is right around the block, two of my favorite restaurants in town Lao Laan-Xang and the Alchemy are also about a block away. There's the best chocolate shop right by the theater as well. So many amazing places in walking distance! I haven't mentioned Williamson Street yet, but that's also one of my favorite areas that is very close. A little further past that is the Capitol and then the UW campus, which are in biking distance and only a short bus ride away.
You'll see on the map there are lakes on either side of where I live; Lake Mendota to the west and Lake Monona to the east. The summer months are my absolute favorite as there is always something to do. Madison is great for biking as well! The bike path is near by as well as the bus line.
If you want to bike but don't have a bike or can't bring your bike with you, Madison B Cycle is a great way to get around. There are many stations with bikes all around town. One is just down the block from me.
If you'd like to stay with me, or rent the whole house, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and why you're coming to Madison. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Guests have access to the whole lower level being the kitchen, dining room and living room. During the nice weather months, the backyard is a lovely place to sit in the morning and drink coffee or in the evening under the party lights. The bedroom at the end of the hall is where guests sleep. The bathroom is right next to it with fresh towels and travel soaps and shampoos if you need them. The guest room also has a balcony!
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I'm in and out during the week and on the weekends. My year old Airedale wakes me up around 7am so we'll usually take off then for the dog park or a long walk so we don't disturb you. I'm always up for socializing with my guests but if you prefer to not, that's fine with me.
Other Things to Note
I am a licensed bed and breakfast (without the breakfast) in the City of Madison. Nobody opposed my decision to become a bed and breakfast during the public hearing held with the city and I passed the health inspection. I'm good to go!
I'm here to answer any questions you have. I just ask that while you're a guest that you treat my place like your own. One last request is that you please don't smoke on the property.
Beth was a great host! The place was exactly as described and quite comfortable. Beth was very accommodating, even getting us an iron and ironing board with little notice. She left us recommendations for restaurants and shops in the area. We were in Madison for work so spent most of our time downtown and she had great advice for that area as well. Would definitely recommend!
Beth was always prompt with her communication regarding our stay, and great about making recommendations of places to go and things to do. Her home is beautiful and welcoming, very clean, and in a fantastic neighborhood with many local shops, restaurants and breweries. I highly recommend staying with Beth!
Beth was an awesome host and I would definitely stay at her place again! The room was so comfortable and Beth made us feel at home. We were only there for a couple days but her recommendations and the neighborhood itself gave us a great snapshot of what Madison is all about. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and downtown Madison is easily accessible. Wish I would have brought a bike!
Staying with Beth was like staying with an old friend! I felt immediately welcomed. Her home is beautiful, the neighborhood is great, and Geoffrey is adorable! I'm in Madison a couple of times a year, and I'll always try to stay here now!
This was my second time staying with Beth and for good reason. Felt completely welcomed and at home. Love her place. Super comfy bed. Would definitely stay a third time!
We were only in Madison for one night but had a great time. Beth was kind and courteous with a beautiful home and puppy. The accommodations were perfectly clean and comfy. Beth provided great food options for the area and we got to try two wonderful Madison establishments. We appreciated her going to extra mile to help us feel at home while away. Would definitely stay again in the future.
Awesome host. Super kind and helpful. Felt safe and its a super comfortable.
I'm a pretty laid back individual and love meeting new people! I love traveling around the world, but have found my permanent home to be in Madison, Wisconsin where I was born and raised. Madison is full of the nicest most down to earth people. I love to laugh and eat good food.
