Instant Book! A comfortable, colorful setting w/ private yard, all the comforts of home. Walk into Centro Historico in 10 mins. Enjoy the most revered week of the year! Treat yourself to a stay in the interesting "Arts District" of San Miguel.
Our guests may use our studio space! (but please supply your own materials.)
Your kitchen will be stocked with your first breakfast and snack supplies, so you can rest after your trip. Enjoy your own private outside table, and the lovely colors, brick arches, and large windows, in this apartment, which is part of a large hacienda style home. Pleasant, private and charming, is this garden level apartment in Colonia Guadalupe.
Utilities, WiFi, cable TV, Weekly cleaning, are included, as are dishes, linens, and of course, all necessary appliances. Your first week's supply of paper products, and complimetary soaps and shampoos, will be ready for your use, so just bring your art supplies, computer, clothes and a toothbrush!
Most folks who come for a vacation, do little cooking, but you will have a small gas stove with oven, a microwave oven, toaster, and all necessary pots and pans that you need to make meals, coffee or tea, etc. whilst you are here. Several restaurants deliver too!
There is a private, fenced yard, so if you have a pet(s) you want to bring with you, it is very possible, just please discuss this first. I have two dogs too.
The apartment is at one end of a large house. You share a typical Colonial entrance-way into a courtyard. The laundry room is also shared. The owner's two dogs are often in the courtyard, so if you do not like dogs, this is not for you.
Colonia Guadalupe is the "Arts District" of San Miguel de Allende, and you are walking distance to the center of town, and within 5 blocks from a gym, an organic market, and several restaurants, liquor stores, and grocery stores.
San Miguel is a UNESCO World Heritage City, with so much to recommend it, that it is hard to know where to begin. There are theaters for film, jazz, classical, Latin, music fests and performances, classes in sculpting, painting, pottery, stained glass, etc, etc. The hot springs are a short ride out of town. Many people go horse back riding nearby. There are numerous language schools and private tutors.
There (email hidden)-lingual library that will issue you a card. There are house tours, walking tours, out-of-town tours that could keep you busy all year! Most people walk from here to the Center, but there is a bus about 2 blocks away, and Taxis are about $2.25 all over Centro Historico. (Buses are 5 pesos)
Smoking outside only, and no wild party animal types, please.
TV upon request.
You may share the laundry facilities. I'll supply the soap and dryer sheets. You can usually share the large courtyard if you want to catch the sun, or take your coffee with company.
You will be greeted upon arrival, and given an orientation so you know where you are and how to begin your explorations of this fabulous historic town. If possible, I will take you around the town personally...(or not, if you prefer) You will share my property and courtyard entrance, because the apartment was originally part of the large house... and can ask me questions any reasonable time. I will give you a map of the town.
Like you, I love to travel, so when I am gone, I cannot personally show you the sites, but you will still be greeted by someone who can answer questions about getting around.
Conde Nest Magazine voted this World Heritage, art colony the number one destination to visit last year...and it truly is a wonderfully historic small city. There is an organic market/restaurant, and many little tiendas/shops in our neighborhood, for fresh tortillas, meats, fish, vegetables and fruits, fresh juices, tacos, etc. In addition, we are only a few minutes walk to the very center of town. Many dozens of restaurants, wonderful shops, the artisan market, and two different huge mercados carrying almost anything you could want, are just minutes away.
If you have a clean, flea treated cat or dog you want to bring with you, talk to me first. I will collect a special cleaning fee and extra deposit, personally, outside of airbnb at the time of reservation. I retain the right to decline acceptance of your pet.
From your apartment, to get into Centro Historico, you will find it convenient to walk, as we are so close, but to get to hot springs, to the large 'Mega' food market, and other destinations farther from here, you will find buses are very regular and cheap, and taxi's are under $3 usd to almost any in-town address. For the hot springs, buses and taxis are still quite affordable.
Utilities, tap and bottled water, electricity, gas and WiFi are all included! Beginning supplies of paper products and laundry soap, and a complimentary bottle of shampoo, and bath soap are also included. A TV is provided upon request.

I was delighted with Sharyn's apartment. The entire house is beautiful with a lovely patio area to sit and relax. My apartment was well appointed with comfortable furnishings and all the Items needed to meet my needs. Sharyn was nine enought to buy the basics so I didn't have to shop the day I arrived. The best thing was her friendship and her delightful personality, which made my stay in SMA great. What a great find. You will enjoy staying at this home.
Sharyn's casita is the perfect place to stay when in San Miguel de Allende. It is situated in the lovely artistic community of Colonia Guadalupe, just a 10 min flat walk to the jardin in the center of town.
The apartment is clean and well furnished and supplied with everything you need. There is a large patio to relax in and enjoy the lovely weather in SMA.
You would be hard pressed to find a better place in SMA, the Mexican charm is just an added bonus!
We enjoyed our 5-night stay at Sharyn's beautiful house! It provided a comfortable and peaceful retreat after being out and about in the day. It's an easy 15-minute walk to downtown but comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended if you intend to do a lot of walking on the uneven cobble-stoned streets that make up most of downtown San Miguel.
Sharyn was a great host and the apartment was just as described. The bed was the most comfortable we've had in our travels, the water in the shower was consistently hot, and the apartment is within walking distance of the Jardin in the center of town.
We stayed at Sharyn's charming little apartment for a week and loved it- great location, wonderfull hospitality- highly, highly recommended! 10 minute walk to the center of historic downtown
***** UPDATE 08/21/13*****
I received the following email from Sharyn after writing my original review: "What a rotten thing to do. You could have said there was no iron working going on at night! Thanks a lot."
With only one con on the list, I thought the review was incredibly positive; I even gave the place a 5 star rating. Sharyn clearly didn't like what I said so to appease her, I will explain in more detail:
Yes, as the host points out, the iron working shop does not operate at night but it does provide a lovely 8am wake up call each morning. Despite folklore, not everyone who visits SMA is a retiree who gets up at 5am for the early bird special, some travelers like to relax and sleep in on their vacations - hence the point of honest reviews. Also, it's kind of hard to sit in the beautiful courtyard during the day and enjoy the perfect weather to the noise of welding and steel cutting. Furthermore, the iron worker has two shop dogs that hang out on the second floor patio and they bark incessantly day and night at everyone that walks by. The street backs up to a dry river bed and then another neighborhood. If the shop dogs aren't barking at any given moment, you can bet that one (or ten) of the dogs from the neighborhood behind the apt will be barking. If not a dog, then probably a rooster (they don't just crow first thing in the morning either, folks). There is a foot path along the river bed that runs right along the back of the apartment, this can get traffic at any time and it is literally less than 2 feet from the bed, directly on the otherside of the bedroom window. So sometimes you will be in bed and hear voices that sound like they are right next to you.
Bottom line - Mexico is loud, if that bothers you then you will have too seek out certain neighborhoods that are either farther from Centro or mostly expat.
ALL of that being said, we still really liked the apartment. So much in fact, that we extended our stay by 2 nights. Also, we are planning a month long return visit to San Miguel and were going to check on this apartments availability but after the immature response to our original review, we will be giving our business to someone more (website hidden)- I mentioned "helpful host" in the original review but it's important to point out that Sharyn was out of town and her friend Linda was filling in for her. Linda was wonderful.
-perfect size for 2 ppl
-fully equipped kitchen
- great courtyard
- loud neighborhood (like most of Mexico), there is an iron worker's fabrication shop right across the street.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
