I have a cosy house with shared garden in the suburbs of Bangkok but a ten minute walk/ 10 Baht motorbike to the BTS and straight into the city. I work full time but when I can, I am happy to show visitors off the beaten track.
You will have your own double bedroom and shower/toilet. You can use the kitchen but there are loads of good Thai restaurants and street food with in walking distance.
Although the BTS ( sky train) is bringing about a lot of new development, there is definitely a Thai feel to my street; the massage parlour; restaurants; market and hairdresser for manicure /pedicure are within 5 minutes walk.
BTS takes you from Bering terminal station into central Bangkok and all that you can find on the Nancy Chandler map. Taxis are available an affordable to take you out of Bangkok to the Erawan Shrine; Ancient City or the best restaurant in Bangkok- a ten minute ride form here.
Come through the gate smell the jasmine; walk past the banana and mango trees and you're home.
I will be working and may be able to show you round but I would hope that you can get yourself around. The kitchen is there to use- fridge, oven, microwave. There is never much to eat in my fridge but you can fill it up! There are 4 houses and so we live a relatively quiet life- I have a maid who comes twice a week and if she cleans or irons for you I would like you to tip her.
The landlady's dogs use the garden- there are no pets in the house.
I love meeting travellers- have a very time consuming job and so hope to distract myself and redress the life /work balance through my house guests.
When not working, I run, play netball, play saxophone and read. I love Desert Island Discs and Have I go News for You. I love to laugh!
