The Space

My gorgeous large studio is located in Dupont Circle neighborhood, arguably the best neighborhood in DC, with a great mix of housing and retail, good connections to the city’s transportation network, and proximity to downtown. The area is very walkable, and it shows: 38% of Logan Circle residents walk all the way to their jobs... I am sure the other part rides their bikes. There is a park close by and everything is at hand, from a hardware store to CVS, gardening, bike store, bookstores, grocery stores, yoga, restaurants, banks, and much more!

THE STUDIO: The apartment is very well distributed with lots of light and beautiful 10-foot ceilings, about 400 square foot in size. It is on the third floor, is very comfortable (has a full-size bed and a full-size sofa bed for guests). Also it has a spacious closet, antique hardwood floors, and a beautiful bathroom (with a large bathtub), Comcast high-speed Internet and a small TV. You also have lovely views from the apartment onto historic Victorian townhomes in the area. It is very nicely fully furnished as I have put some time and effort to decorate it and make it home. I would like to host people that are caring and appreciate my place. The people at the building are really nice and it is calm. There is great space in the basement for keeping your bicycle safe (as in DC bikes tend to have a short term life span...) I enjoy much doing my laundry at Swift cleaners in 17 and R or at MacDee cleaners at 1408 P Street.

NEIGHBORHOOD: The neighborhood is very safe, convenient, trendy, yet quiet. There are many art galleries, high-end furniture and home goods stores, great restaurants and bars, organic food stores, yoga, and lounges with nice terraces for having a drink after work, etc. Also, the 14th Street corridor is just one block away with some of the best restaurants, music halls, clubs, and other cool hangout places of the city. Also, on P Street, there is a Whole Foods market, a hardware store, a Wells Fargo bank, any many other stores and restaurants.

TRANSPORTATION: For metro access, the place is 5 blocks to McPherson Square (blue/orange), 6 blocks to Dupont Circle or 7 to Farragut North (red), and 6 blocks to Shaw/Howard or 7 to U Street (green). You also have the circulator (bus) that takes you straight downtown, but also connecting Logan Circle and Adams Morgan by way of U Street. In addition, the 52/53/54 buses run pretty frequently along 14th Street, connecting the neighborhood to Columbia Heights, Downtown, and L’Enfant Plaza. Also, a large number of ZipCar stations are close by and a Capital bikeshare station is at 14th Street and Rhode Island Avenue.

Thanks and enjoy!

  • I stayed in Alexandra's apartment for 10 days. I was working in DuPont Circle so for me the location was perfect--I could walk everywhere I needed to be from the apartment. It is also very close to two different metro lines, so getting around is easy. It is also in a very safe area. I am a woman, and I was travelling by myself, and I never felt in any danger. There are a couple of supermarkets very close by (Trader Joe's on 14th was the best) which was also very handy.

The apartment itself is quite nice--the bed was comfortable, the internet worked very well, and the high ceilings make it feel very roomy. The kitchen is tiny, so it would be difficult to cook anything really elaborate, but for my purposes it was fine. The a/c struggled a little but that's mainly because it was ridiculously hot while I was there. The building was quiet and felt very safe. The only thing I would say is that it could have been a little cleaner, the bathroom seemed a bit dirty and there wasn't any toilet paper. But I have to say they were minor issues. I thought it was very good value, considering the very low rate (compared to other places in DC) and the excellent location. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting DC.

  • The apartment was great it was in a good location with lots of bars and restaurants. There is a pull out couch so it can fit at least three people comfortably. The building is quiet and in a safe area. The only problem was parking in that area is not good and Alexandra took a while to respond to my question about where I can park. Overall the experience was good.

    Response from Alexandra:

    Jessica,
The parking is great and anyone can park in from of the building. For this however, I have to get a guess parking permit. If I have known in advance you needed to park your car, I would have been happy to get you a parking permit. But if you ask me the day before you leave "where can I park my car for the last night?" in DC you need s visitor parking. Also, you were supposed to arrive at 12pm and instead you arrived at 6pm, while we coordinated together and you were kind to pick up the keys, maybe a little planing in advance would help avoid logistic issues. I hope you had a safe trip back home

  • I had a great time staying here for a week while attending a course in the Dupont Circle area. The apartment was clean, accessible, and very centrally located. Also, Alexandra was very responsive and courteous. I will definitely try to stay here again upon my next visit to DC.

  • Alexandra's studio is just a 20 minute walk from the Washington Convention Center and within walking distance to all major attractions. It's a safe and quiet neighbourhood with Safeway and Wholefoods Supermarkets just around the corner.
It offers a good value for money and (email hidden) for the budget-minded traveler with a very caring host!

  • Great place! Perfectly located and just the right size for my husband and myself. Small but clean and comfortable with the greatest hosts ever....would use it again!

  • What a great location! It was very convenient to get to every place I needed to be (Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, the Mall). Alexandra worked with me to accommodate my ridiculously late arrival time. I had no significant problems while staying there. I guess if I had any criticism, though very minor, it would be that the kitchen was a little sparsely appointed and the neighbors were occasionally a little noisy, but it really didn't bother me.

  • Alexandra's place is great - it's light and nicely decorated in one of the best areas in DC. The arrangements for check-in and departure were very easy. Alexandra was available when I needed to contact her - e.g. the TV wasn't working and she got it fixed for me. Would definitely recommend this apartment.

  • I contacted Alexandra to rent her apartment for my mom visit's to DC. Alexandra has been incredibly helpful and nice since our first exchange. Everything was well organized and clean in the apartment when we got there. It was easy to get the keys and to give them back. The apartment is located in a quite and nice street near Dupont Circle, at a walking distance from shops and restaurants. It is minimal, but it has all the necessary things, including a very comfortable bed (according to my mom who stayed there). The only downside is the building, which is not very nice. But it is a very minor downside. The whole experience has been very very positive and Alexandra has been incredible.

  • The location is just outstanding. One block from all the restaurants and bars on 14th street while still on a quiet street with beautiful architecture. Also only two blocks from P street Whole Foods and about 5 min walk from U street. Third floor also meant beautiful light and a cute fire escape. One reviewer said this apartment only has a kitchenette but it has a full kitchen (oven, gas range, fridge, sink) it's just not in a separate room since it's a studio apartment. I loved my stay.
