Please check the calendar for availability and pricing. My flatmate and I travel quite a bit so there are three possibilities.
1. If both of us are gone, the whole apartment is available. ($139 per night)
2. If one of us is gone, 1 private bedroom with a queen bed is available in addition to the living room ($98 per night)
3. If both of us are here (most of the time), the living room with a large couch and air mattress are available ($79 per night)
The prices will reflect the differences. We also take a lot of last minute trips so there's a chance that you may have a bedroom even if you booked for the living room. Feel free to inquire!
*Given that my flatmate and I are both young, sometimes come home late, the place is probably not suitable for families (parents, children).
My housemate Mak and I are super international and would prefer younger people around our age who are like minded. open and fun. We may invite you to parties, have you come out with us, explore a local side of DC.
Our home is your home! Help yourself to anything in the fridge and open bottles we have.
We love making our guests feel at home. If time and opportunity permits, we're happy to invite them to local activities, parties, etc.
The neighborhood is very charming as no two homes are exactly alike. There's easy access to Rock Creek Park which has great nature trails and it is next door to Kalorama Park. The area was built during the Roaring 20's so all the homes are quite interesting and beautiful. 18th St one block away is a center of restaurants, nightlife, and activities.
DC is a compact, walking friendly city. You can walk to the White House in less than 30 minutes, most of it downhill. The L2 and 43 buses take you right by the White House in about 10 minutes, while the 42 can take you all the way to Metro Center. The house is located halfway between the Dupont Circle and Woodley Park metro stations and there are 3 Bikeshare stations within 3 blocks.
The place is very clearn and contemporary. Joe and Mak were very friendly...honestly, I felt at home and there was that danger of being too comfortable.
Closely located to the metro and in one of the best neighbourhood in D.C. Kalorama Heights is easily a top 3 neighbourhood in all of D.C, so if safety is your concern -- then no need to worry :)
The apartment is a wonderful place to for a shot stay. Joe and his roommate Mak have been really nice and friendly. I'll make the same reservation if I have a chance to visit DC next year.
I enjoy staying at Joe's place. It is a really stylish and modern looking apartment. His place is close many amenities and really walkable for a US standard. I will definitely recommend his place.
Joe is the best! His place is very well appointed and perfectly situated near to the U-street corridor and DuPont circle. Mak and him are really gracious hosts and super down to earth. You'll most definitely enjoy your stay in DC by booking Joe's place!
I went DC for a conference for four nights. Joe comes from Shanghai and is very nice guy. I am glad that we can talk in Chinese. He made me to feel comfortable as at home. Definitely, he is a good host and met him for one night. However, he has a roommate who is not chinese, and hosted me that night I arrived. At that time, I realized that I was in touch with him instead of Joe. It seemed that there was an issue of using the shower in the morning for two of four morning. He got up at 8am right before me and used the shower for over half an hour until I knocked at the door twice. I cannot imagine that it takes a man that long to take a shower. You need to make an arrange to use the bathroom, either before him or after, then you won't have an issue like me. In addition, the bedding and towel is not fresh, smells weirded.
Joe was very helpful. Access was easy, the place was clean and just as it shows in the photos. The location was great. Overall, it was a great experience.
Unfortunately I had a pretty unsatisfactory experience staying here. Although joe and his flatmate were really nice people, the conditions of the accommodation were poor. The bed sheets were unchanged from previous use, with other people's hairs all over and food residue on them. The towels were stored on the bathroom floor in a basket right next to the toilet and smelled rather funky. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom with shaving bits around the sink and used towels flung over the shower rod, perhaps this place wouldn't be so bad. Though, Joe was quite amenable to providing me with a refund for the nights I didn't stay as planned and the airbnb team refunded the rest. (I only stayed one out of 4 planned nights)
Very nice people, and a great experience for those whose needs are simple and limited to (website hidden), and don't mind socializing with the hosts. In other words, everything is great and very true to the listing, so just be sure to read it and make sure it fits your needs!
Appreciation of Chinese movies a plus.
We really enjoyed staying in Joe's apartment. Joe and his roomie are both super nice and relaxed persons, and we felt welcome immediatly. The apartment is really, really nice and has a superb location in the charming Kalorama area, close to subway stations and lots of restaurants and bars.
I'd recommend Joe's place to everyone visiting DC!
Joe's place was awesome! He was a great host and gave us lots of advice on nice food and places to visit. The apartment was spacious, clean and cosy. We really enjoyed watching movies together in his living room. The sofa was just too comfortable. It is easy to get around by bus and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Washington.
