My girlfriend and I had a great time staying at Mary's place. It was very clean and well maintained and we enjoyed how her property was very lush with tropical vegetation. Mary was super helpful in giving suggestions on places to see and things to do. She would stop in each morning and make sure our stay was going good while she would also drop off some fresh fruit she would pick from her property. We loved that!
Her property is in a more rural area but we didn't mind that. We loved that we were surrounded by nature. Even so, Pahoa (a small near by Village) is only about 10 miles away and Hilo is roughly 20 miles. Not to mention the location was a great base camp for the Volcano, Mauna Kea, hot ponds and lava viewing.
The only thing we weren't crazy about was the mattress, it was a little firm for our taste, but it wasn't a deal breaker. You can't go wrong staying here if you're looking to explore the big Island.
Thanks Mary and we'll make sure to book with you again when we come back :)
Natalie and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jade Ohana. Mary made us feel welcome, comfortable, and gave good suggestions of area activities and places of interest. The location was convenient for exploring the Puna coast, Hawaii Volcano NP, and the area immediately north of Hilo.
Mary is an exceptional host. Each day she briefed us on local events which we would have not known about otherwise. She introduced us to snorkeling spots, told us of special cafes, and the bests farmers' markets. Jade Ohana is a sweet, comfortable cottage, surrounded by lush vegetation, in a quiet residential area. The cottage was well-supplied with kitchen, bath, and beach items. We certainly felt welcome and at home.
Mary is extremely gracious and her home was a wonderful and peaceful space for our time on the Hilo side of the big island. The space is large and very clean and Mary welcomed us with a large collection of delicious native fruit! We enjoyed our time staying there and would highly recommend it!
Mary is a great host who breathes Hawaii's Aloha spirit. She shared her beautiful home and knowledge with us generously and with great kindness.
Thanks Mary and we hope to see you again one day!
