My fiancé and I have a private basement and bathroom in our Columbia Heights Row-home. We have a newborn who sleeps on the third floor. We are very knowledgeable about the city and love having guests. Located very close to public transit. Come and go as you please!
The private basement in my rowhouse will be available for up to 2 people on almost any dates. Along with a double futon (and extra air mattress upon request), the space also has a private bathroom.
The house has just been purchased and most everything is brand new including the stainless steel appliances, granite counters and the 55" Smart TV. We have every channel, including movie channels, plus wireless internet. You are welcome to use our fridge/coffee pot and all our kitchen utensils and gadgets.
The Metro (Subway) is a 10-15 minute walk away. Even better yet, the bus is directly outside the house going right to the festivities (see pic) and costs $1.80 per trip. The metro is on the Green Line. It is 5 stops on one train to Archives metro station, which gets you .5 miles from the capital as well.
We can talk about airport or train station pick-up if you like. Send me any questions you have. -Dean

Interaction with Guests
I love to interact and am available most of the time. I enjoy meeting new people, and am grateful for the wonderful people I have hosted. I want to provide my guests with the best travel experience possible, and go above and beyond to do so.
The neighborhood of Columbia Heights is the most diverse in all of DC. It is also the fastest growing and where most young middle class professionals live in the district.
Steps from the bus that goes directly to the monuments in 15 minutes and 6 blocks from the subway that connects to everywhere!
I will guide you well!
Dean and Julie were very hosting and helpful with us. Always with the smile. Thank you.
Excellent stay at Dean's this past weekend. Sadly Dean was out of town so we did not get to interact, but hopefully we can fix that with another visit in the future.
The space is great, I like that the basement feels like we have our own space and Dean provides great resources as well as some games and books and such down there. Bed was very comfortable. Location was excellent. The first day we used the metro (5 or 6 (?) blocks) and that is fine, but we learned quick that we preferred just hopping on the bus to get down to the mall and monuments. I loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chair with a beer and a book or just watching people walk by and folks playing ball in the park across the street. Some cool restaurants (vegan soul food!?) in the area as well.
My review adds to the great reviews that Dean already has. Very good communication and very friendly. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time in Washington and part of it was based on the way Dean and his family had take care of our stay there. They were lovely hosts and we didn't even met them ! It's easy to get to the subway, really quick to go to DCA airport, a cozy house. We really enjoyed. Thank you, guys !
The host, Dean and Julie, were very hospitable and chill. I really lucked out! The communication before the trip and during the trip was clear. The futon was actually pretty comfortable. I recommend this place.
Dean and Julie were excellent hosts who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were especially helpful in recommending places to go. It was awesome having a whole basement to ourselves and the accommodations were great! I would definitely refer Dean to my own friends or family!
My husband and I stayed at Dean's place for a weekend and we had a great experience!! We are fellow Airbnb hosts in NYC and so we were super pleased to have a great contact in DC to recommend. Even though it was a holiday and Dean was traveling, all directions and instructions were very clear, and he was in constant communication should we need anything. The room is in the basement with a private bathroom (a big plus!). It's bare bones, but do you really visit a city to stay in a room all day?! The futon was comfortable, as were the linens, and the information in the room was helpful too! Dean let us use the parking pass, much appreciated. His kitchen was open to us, which was very kind and not expected at all. We could tell Dean really is great at being hospitable which giving guests the space they need. We also were able to bring our dogs, and that was a treat! He even gave suggestions of places in the neighborhood we could bring them to. The neighborhood was AWESOME. Being from Brooklyn, I loved the character of the buildings, the various colorful homes, and diversity of friendly people. Restaurants abound, and the walk to the metro isn't far at all for easy commuting (about a 10 minute, leisurely and enjoyable walk). I went for a run and went to a yoga studio nearby. We couldn't say enough about what a great value this place is. If you're looking for convenience, comfortable bed, semi-privacy, easy check-in, affordable price, a place to crash, continental breakfast, and a friendly face, stay with Dean.
Location was great, private basement was clean and spacious, and Dean was very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend staying there! Thanks Dean!

I love to travel and have been all over the world. One of my favorite things about travelling is meeting new people, which is why I enjoy using Airbnb both for hosting and when I travel. I love Washington, D.C. and want my guests to experience all the best things that the city has to offer. When you stay with me, I don't just provide a place to sleep - but I also go above and beyond to make your stay in D.C. a pleasant and memorable one. I love hosting guests, and am grateful for the wonderful people I have met along the way. And my reviews reflect that my guests enjoy staying with me too.
