Extremely friendly family and the most beautiful place in all of Kathmandu. Come, stay for yourself !!
1. There are two ways you can get to our place from the airport. If you provide us with your flight number and arrival time, we can send a driver to pick you up at the airport for 1000 nepali rupees. The other option is taking a taxi. You can call us or have taxi driver call us from the airport for directions to our place. It is about 30 minutes ride from the airport.
2. Our place is ~15 minutes taxi ride or ~45 minutes walk to Thamel, the heart of tourist area.
3. We will provide early morning nepali tea for free. You can have nepali meal with the family for a fee. Please ask!
4. Long-term stay options are available. Please ask!.
We spent five lovely nights at Pradeep's family's home in Sitapaila, near Swayambhunath Monkey Temple in Kathmandu. We really enjoyed our time with this kind and welcoming Nepali family and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our stopover in K-du. The accommodations were comfortable, the conversation engaging and upbeat, and the food was the best that we had in Kathmandu (Santosi is an amazing cook!). We also met some wonderful fellow travelers that we immediately clicked with, which was an unexpected (and added) bonus. Thank you, Khanal family, for giving us a home and so much more during our short stay in Kathmandu!
I had a wonderful time with Pradeep's family. As many other people said in the reviews, I felt like I had another family in Nepal. They took super good care of me, and provided a comfortable home with all the amenities I could need: warm water, cleanliness and privacy with a great view. Pradeep's brother also helped me with my organization of the trip, and even provided a cell phone ( I had left mine behind) to call him in case I had any difficulties. I am very happy I chose to stay here and as another reviewer mentioned, this was the perfect place for a single woman starting to travel around Asia, as I felt super safe and enjoyed doing tourism while also being integrated into a local family. They were kind, vivacious and respectful. I am very thankful that they made my stay so nice! I look forward to visiting Nepal again.
We had a great stay at pradeep and his family. His sister, mother, father and brother took very care about us - we had everything! E.g. we could eat with them, do the laundry and we get hints about places to visit. The room which we got was awesome with an amazing view of kathmandu. The house itself has for nepaly conditions a very high standard and everything was very clean.
We enjoyed our stay so much and loved our discussions with Pramod. We can highly recommend this place!
@Family Khanal: Thanks you very much for everything and if we are coming back to Kathmandu, we will let you know about it :-)
We cannot recommend this place enough... And it is difficult to find the right words to describe what an amazing time we had at Pramod's family home. Not only is it a peace heaven in chaotic Kathmandu but it soon becomes your home away from home. We have been taken care of, fed, pampered and entertained by Pramod, his lovely wife, daughter, sister and parents as if we were part of the family. On the practical side, the rooms are really quiet and comfortable, there is access to 24h hot shower and you are served what is arguably the best dal bat in Kathmandu! If you need some tips about places to visit, Pramod is very helpful in giving local information. In short, we cannot wait to go back!!
It was really great to stay with the family for a few days - very accommodating, super friendly and incredible views of Swayambhu and the valley.
After 2 very busy weeks exploring Nepal, my father and I stayed with Pradeep's family our final two days of our trip. It was the PERFECT end to our time in Nepal. The house is serene and extremely comfortable (the best sleep I had the entire trip), and the family is amazingly warm and welcoming. Every time we arrived back at the house, we were offered tea, and I am glad that we opted to have our dinners with the family instead of eating out. The entire property is pristine, which after a few days in Kathmandu, you will really appreciate. The 3rd floor deck has a great view of the City, and I was grateful to have a quiet place to talk to Dad as we prepared to go back to the U.S. I grew up in a Bed and Breakfast (which my parents still run) and am also an Airbnb host, so I can say that Pradeep's family do an incredible job. The house is located close to the "Monkey Temple" and is a 5-minute walk to a taxi stand, which can take you to anywhere you need to go for a few hundred rupees ($3-4).
Upon reflection, we knew without a doubt that one of our favorite parts about Nepal was its people. And Pradeep's house is no exception. The whole family is warm and inviting. We usually dined at their house at least once a day. The bedroom space is ample, with a comfortable clean shared bathroom, as well as a very comfortable sitting room (which we took firm advantage of while working). Its away from Thamel, the tourist area, but close enough to get anywhere you want to go. Don't hesitate to take microbuses or busses around. Its a great place. We thank Pramod and his family for being so open. We truly cannot wait to return. Thank you.
This is the place to stay in Kathmandu.
The home is an amazing oasis just out of the heart of the city. Quiet, peaceful, safe.
The entire family are some of the kindest, sweetest hosts one could ever hope for. I felt like a college student with a host family in all the best ways possible.
They even invite you for breakfast, tea, lunch and dinner if you are interested.
There are three rooms here and everyone that I had the pleasure of meeting who was also staying here were very cool. Several nights we even went into the city together as a group.
A typhoon delayed my trekking by a few days and they were very flexible with me to host me so I didn't have to move locations.
The house sits up on the hill just west of the monkey temple so your views are spectacular.
Pramod was kind enough to introduce me to Susil and Gokul at Gorkha Travel and Gorkha ended up being my travel agent because of the (non-commission) referral.
I highly recommend staying here.
I hope the family visits me in the US when they travel so I can return the hospitality.
Excellent place to stay outside of the hustle & bustle of downtown Thamel. Communication was prompt and clear. Highly recommended.
Great place to stay! It is just outside the Ring Rd. So it is the perfect place to escape from the hectic city life of Kathamandu. Pradeep and his family are also very warm and kind people. So I can really recommend this place! :-)
