Private room in a well-maintained, extremely clean, resort-style house in a hill with a great view of Swoyambhu Nath Temple. Peacefully away yet only 15 minutes ride from the center of Kathmandu city. Western style restroom and shower with hot-water. And 24 hour WiFi connection for free (with power backup).
Extremely friendly family and the most beautiful place in all of Kathmandu. Come, stay for yourself !!
There are two ways you can get to our place from the airport. If you provide us with your flight number and arrival time, we can send a driver to pick you up at the airport (1000 nepali rupees for day-time pickup, 1800 nepali rupees for night-time pickup).
The other option is taking a taxi. You can call us or have taxi driver call us from the airport for directions to our place. It is about 30 minutes ride from the airport.
Our place is ~15 minutes taxi ride or ~45 minutes walk to Thamel, the heart of tourist area. About 7-8 minutes walk from the public transit.
Other Things to Note
We will provide early morning nepali tea for free. You can have nepali meal with the family for a minimal fee. Please ask!
Also, long-term stay options are available. Please ask!
Stay clean. Leave the place in the same condition as you walked in. If smoking, outside and away from the room.
It was wonderful to stay with such a warm and kind family in Kathmandu. They helped me with everything and made my stay very comfortable and easy. I would recommend anyone to stay here when they visit Kathmandu. Thanks so much!
We had a wonderful time in the Khanal Family. They are all excellent guests and did everything to facilitate our stay in Kathmandu (advice, taxi reservation...).
We felt like home in their house and had interesting conversations with all members of the family.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone who needs to learn more about Nepalese culture,in a pleasant place, with pleasant people.
Bonus: possibility to eat great Nepalese food for dinner.
Staying at the local family was the best experience of Nepal. I felt at home right away. They helped me arrange a wonderful trek and with a lot more things. When you are a guest with the Khanal family; you are part of the family. I learned a lot about Nepal and the culture only by talking to the young daughter and the lovely grandma. The area where they live is very nice, away from all the traffic and busy streets. Just 15 minutes from the centre of Thamel and you can walk 2 minutes for local restaurants and small supermarkets. The bus to where ever you want to go is around the corner and very cheap. I met a very nice girl from the US who was also staying at the house. Always nice to meet new people. I loved Nepal and will come back. For sure will stay at Pramod's house!
The best place to stay in Kathmandu! The location is perfect, it is quiet with a beautiful view and easy to get to all of the shops and restaurants in Thamel. The room is very comfortable and clean with a beautiful balcony to enjoy the sunset or your morning coffee. What makes this place the best though is the welcoming, kind family. They are the most helpful and generous people and will make your stay in Kathmandu perfect. They have suggestions on all the sights to see, will help you plan a day trip or trek and are always happy to answer any questions. They also so generously help with any kind of emergency that may arise - medical, passport issues - anything, they are there to help, truly above and beyond with their hospitality.
Other perks - clean bathroom, warm shower, fast wifi, great Nepali dinner each night
We were with this family our 3 first days at kathmandu, excepcional house ,very clean, friendly, 5 minutes from Thamel ...time for a nice rest and organice if you plan to travél anaywhere else....honesly recomended
We had a really nice stay at Pradeep's family house. Welcomed by his lovely family, his father showed us the house and his brother Pramod is lovely. It is a super cute pink house a little away from the center (a little sense of orientation will be useful) Pramod is great at giving directions and great before the trip in organizing and making sure you're ok. The house is cute, cosy and clean with a great view on the monkey temple. Recommended

An electrical engineer living in Silicon Valley, California and originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. My parents and brother live in Kathmandu, in the same home we host airbnb guests.
I love airbnb as it has enabled us to meet new people from all over the world. At our home, folks come in as guests, and leave as friends!!
