Everything was great, house had everything we needed. Really close to the beach. House is very cozy, felt like home. Grill outside was a nice surprise. Hostess was willing to accomodate our change of plans and change dates of our stay which was very nice of her. We had a blast!!
Two friends and I came to Folly Beach/Charleston to enjoy some relaxing down-time together. The house was perfect and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the beach, walking to the lighthouse and walking to the restaurants and shops on Center Street. We had great meals at the Lost Dog Cafe (fabulous shrimp and grits and Grapefruit mimosas) and Taco Boy (tempura avocado taco!!!). Thanks for a super weekend Desiree!!
We stayed at this beautiful house as a family of five (four adults and a baby) I have to say that this was a great find on airbnb, as Folly Beach is a fantastic place to stay. The beach near the lighthouse is a short drive, followed by a short walk and is stunning - and the main beach which is only a block away is lovely too.
The house is very well appointed, roomy and the decor was great (immaculate too, not a fixture broken or a mark on a wall). The neighbourhood felt safe and had a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. The off street parking was good and allowed us to unload the car easily and safely.
The town has a number of great shops aimed at beach life and The Lost Dog Cafe/bar was our favorite place to eat (throughout our entire US trip). Again it was only a short walk from the house and it was recommended to us by the host in the welcome pack.
The welcome pack was informative and contained everything we needed to make our stay a brilliant one.
The house is only a 20 minute drive to Charleston which Conde Nast Travel Magazine voted the best city in America for the fourth year running! (It is awesome)
All in all we could have stayed there much much longer - or even moved in!
We just returned from our trip to Folly Beach with a stay at Island Girl and I don't have enough good things to say about it! The house is exactly as described and Desiree couldn't have been more helpful - she was available for us during our stay with any questions. The house was extremely accomidating - enough furniture for all of our guests to be able to relax both inside and out, all the dishware and linens we needed (beach towels included - a huge help!), and even board games to play at night. The house was clean and perfect for our bachelorette weekend getaway. Walking distance from the beach (literally around the corner) and parking for two - it was the best way to stay at Folly!
We just returned from our trip to Folly Beach and the Island Girl. There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful a time we had. The house was absolutely perfect. Desiree was incredible. She was quick to respond to any questions we had, was super accommodating and made our stay wonderful. We felt like we were staying at a close friends home. There were even mints left on our pillows when we arrived!! Everything you need for your trip is provided. There is a great guide book put together by Desiree that gives you everything you need to know about Folly. The house is stocked with all the essentials for a memorable beach vacation. There are beach towels, chairs, coolers, boogie board, kites, etc and a cart to wheel everything the short one block walk to the beach. Just bring your flip flops and your swimsuit and you are all set. The people in Folly are about the nicest people we have met on all of our travels. We are already planning our trip back to Folly and we will certainly be staying at the Island Girl!! The only bad part about our trip to the Island Girl was that we had to leave. You will love every minute of your trip to Folly and the Island Girl!!
Excellent stay at Island Girl. Desiree was very prompt at helping arrange the stay and corresponding with me. The location was perfect on Folly Beach, a 2 min or less walk to the beach, we ran there every morning, and a short walk to Bert's Market for coffee after. Walking distance to several bars in Folly. The house itself was a great little beach house, with a lot of outdoor patio space. The beds were also super comfortable! We didn't want to leave!
The first thing we noticed when we walked into the adorable cottage was a bottle of wine and a welcome letter. The cottage had a binder filled with places to visit and was extremely resourceful. I loved reading through previous visitor's experiences in the guest book. The house was walking distance to Center street and the neighborhood was nice and quiet!
About the Host, Desiree
My husband and I relocated to Charleston from the northeast because of our love of Charleston's beautiful beaches, mainly Folly, and to enjoy the relaxing pace that Charlestonians live. This area is a fabulous place to live and we love the ability to go to the beach any time of the year. After escaping the rat race of New England, we find walking the beach is a wonderful way to clear our head, unwind and relax. There is something about - at least for us - finding a sand dollar nestled in the sand, a new turtle nest, or seeing dolphins playing in the water. And, while our children are now living in other states, our pure enjoyment is watching them enjoy the same things we fell in love with Folly, when they come to visit. And, we love being able to share that feeling with you! We hope you come back for years to come. But, if you ever find you would like to relocate here permanently, please let me know and I would be happy to help you find your new home.
