Excellent stay at Island Girl. Desiree was very prompt at helping arrange the stay and corresponding with me. The location was perfect on Folly Beach, a 2 min or less walk to the beach, we ran there every morning, and a short walk to Bert's Market for coffee after. Walking distance to several bars in Folly. The house itself was a great little beach house, with a lot of outdoor patio space. The beds were also super comfortable! We didn't want to leave!
The first thing we noticed when we walked into the adorable cottage was a bottle of wine and a welcome letter. The cottage had a binder filled with places to visit and was extremely resourceful. I loved reading through previous visitor's experiences in the guest book. The house was walking distance to Center street and the neighborhood was nice and quiet!
The Island Girl was a great location for our girl's weekend! Desiree was a wonderful host and easy to communicate with regarding our stay. She was quick to respond to my inquiries. Desiree also left us a welcome note and gift for the adults and for my daughter.
The house was immaculate and since I brought my 10 month old daughter who is crawling that was important to me. There was plenty of space with three nice size bedrooms and comfortable living area. We didn't spend much time in the backyard or on the screened in porch and deck but they were great as well!
The walk to the beach was quick and convenient just as described. We were even able to walk to the downtown area for a little shopping and lunch from the Island Girl. Although I have been to Folly Beach many times this was my first stay on Folly and it was a wonderful experience. I'll be back!
Folly Beach's Island Girl was the PERFECT house for our beach visit. Your place is so cute and "beachy". Everything was spotless and your kitchen is so well stocked. Didn't need a thing!! Our daughter came from Asheville to join us and she had just been to Folly about a month ago and stayed with friends but their commute to the beach from where she was staying was about 15 minutes. She kept saying how nice it was that it was just a short walk from your house to the beach. It was so convenient to town and Bert's. (Great little local market with everything you would need.) Unfortunately, it rained for two days but we just took it in stride and relaxed. The beds were really comfortable and it was just above and beyond that not only were there chocolates on the beds but beach towels provided too. Just awesome! We will definitely be back–for a longer stay hopefully!
My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in early September and the house was perfect for such an occasion. It had enough room but felt cozy. There is a public walkway to the beach just one house down (kind of hidden but public nonetheless) and the beaches in Folly are awesome. We got a bottle of champagne and chocolates on the bed. The house felt very clean and very well maintained. It lived up to its billing perfectly.
Furthermore, my wife accidentally left a neckalce at the property. Desiree actually mailed it back to us free of (website hidden);dr - house is exactly as advertized and the people behind it go the extra mile to make sure your stay is special. Great house, great people. If you want to stay in Folly beach with your spouse/gf/family this option will not disappoint.
What an adorable house this was for our family trip. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and a hand-written note welcoming us to Folly Beach from Desiree. The place was kept immaculate and there were even fresh towels and mints on each of the beds. There were bikes, kitchen supplies, house supplies, and all the comforts of home available for us, including Wi-Fi, cable, and hilarious DVD's. Obviously, the owners have a good sense of humor because they had a drawer full of really funny movies and TV there.
The beach was right in back of the house (by one block) and the center of Folly was just steps away. There was so much to do and see and even organic and healthy food options for the nearby market and food trucks.
The only critique is that there were beach chairs, but they were pretty rusty and I think one is broken. Minor fix but everything else was just delightful.
We had an excellent stay at the Island Girl. Truly only a few blocks from the beach and just a short stroll into town. Very well maintained, comfy beds, and has all the essentials for cooking a meal. One word of caution - taller folks may bump their head in one or two spots.
Would highly recommend this house to anyone and hope to stay here again on my next trip to Folly Beach!
My husband and I relocated to Charleston from the northeast because of our love of Charleston's beautiful beaches, mainly Folly, and to enjoy the relaxing pace that Charlestonians live. This area is a fabulous place to live and we love the ability to go to the beach any time of the year. After escaping the rat race of New England, we find walking the beach is a wonderful way to clear our head, unwind and relax. There is something about - at least for us - finding a sand dollar nestled in the sand, a new turtle nest, or seeing dolphins playing in the water. And, while our children are now living in other states, our pure enjoyment is watching them enjoy the same things we fell in love with Folly, when they come to visit. And, we love being able to share that feeling with you! We hope you come back for years to come. But, if you ever find you would like to relocate here permanently, please let me know and I would be happy to help you find your new home.
