BEST IN HARLEM - MUSICIANS WELCOME!

Apartment - Private room · West 150th Street, New York, NY 10031, United States

The Space

Hello!

(recently took some of these pics with my camera phone, sorry for the low quality!)

I'm renting my bedroom centrally located in Hamilton Heights, Harlem, Manhattan. I've listed all of the amenities below, if you have any questions feel free to message me anytime and I will respond within 24 hours.

I am also a seasoned traveler and want to make your stay in NYC as enjoyable as possible. I'm happy to help you figure out places to go and things to see and eat. I will have the room all set up with towels and sheets so the only thing you need to figure out is what to do with your day!

My downstairs neighbor and one of my best friends, Ariel, is also an AirBNB host. He is a fully trained yoga instructor and incredible cook, specializing in Ayurvedic and Spanish cuisines. He offers yoga classes and gourmet meals at reasonable prices, both of which his guests rave about, so be sure to ask about them.

The Room:
This room is ENORMOUS and full of fun. Giant bay windows let tons of natural light all day long into this studio, music equipment is everywhere and available for your use, and there's an office area and living room area as well as a comfy queen size bed. The couch pulls out into a full size bed, so up to 4 people can sleep comfortably here. This room is clean, organized, and ready for your stay. There's plenty of closet space for you, and an electronic dartboard for you to enjoy.

Feel free to use the high speed WiFi or anything in the fully stocked kitchen. Kitchen, bathroom, and both hallways boast wonderful skylights.

The charm of this apartment is its layout, its classic Harlem brownstone construction, its copious amounts of natural light, and its neighbors. We've got a great community in our building!

The Neighborhood:
Centrally located on West 150th Street, this apartment is near a smorgasbord of restaurants, with the awesome Riverbank State Park several blocks to the West. The immediate community of Sugar Hill is a mix of artists, families, and young professionals. There's a great new watering hole, Harlem Public, and an upscale Italian restaurant, Tonelli, within a 2 minute walk. My two favorite places in the neighborhood to eat are San Pedro Taqueria and Wat's On Your Plate?, a tiny place run by a wonderful family serving the best Jamaican food I've ever had, both within 5 blocks. There's also Moroccan, Chinese, and American cuisine - think burgers, fried chicken - nearby, with tons of delivery choices on (website hidden).

Also, Harlem Wine Gallery is just a 5-7 minute walk, and has not only a superb selection of wines, but features the work of local artists on a rotating basis. Check them out for special events and free wine tastings. The owner, Ken, is a great guy and supporter of the community.

Transportation:
The apartment is a 5-10 minute walk to the A, B, C and D trains, the A and D being express during rush hours, and a 5-10 minute walk to the 1 train. Getting to anyplace in Manhattan or Brooklyn is incredibly convenient - 15 minutes to Columbia University, 20 minutes to Midtown, 30 minutes to Lower East Side, 30 minutes to Williamsburg. There are also a number of buses nearby, including the M35 which takes you down along Central Park all the way to Grand Central Station, the M60 is only a few stops away which goes right to LaGuardia Airport, and the M100 and M101 which easily get you to the East side.

  • Jed and his place were exactly as described. We loved staying there and would do it again. Jed was very easy and interesting to talk with, but he also gave you plenty of space so you can socialize as much or as little as you like.
The room itself was great. We were a family of 4 and had plenty of room to spread out. A/C in the room which was nice 'cause it was hot that week.
The neighborhood was great. Easy access to 2 different subway lines, plenty of shops for food, groceries, whatever around, and we never had a problem feeling safe. My wife and daughter came back around midnight one night from a Broadway show, no issues. We had to stay in another place for a couple of days before coming here, and while the apartment was great there too, the neighborhood was less than stellar so this was much appreciated by all of us.

Not sure what else to say other than, again, we had a great time. Thanks Jed!

  • Jed was the perfect host. He has such a cool place. My 3 sons and I stayed there for 5 nights and we had such a great time. We arrived late the 1st night and Jed was sweet enough to have the sofa bed made out for us. He made sure we had everything we needed and assisted us with local places to eat and answered any questions or (website hidden) sons loved staying there and meeting his great, talented neighbors and friends. My youngest one didn't want to leave. He was sweet enough to spend some time with them playing some music. I highly recommend his place to stay. It's easily accessible to the subway, metro, quaint cafes and great places to eat. Thanks Jed, your the best!

  • This was our first introduction to airbnb and the first time we'd ventured outside down town Manhattan. I have to say Jed helped make the whole experience very pleasurable and relaxing. He was always very polite, laid back and accommodating but at the same time very professional, which was reassuring. When we arrived much earlier than expected he made sure his very cool house mate was there to let us in and get us settled. The apartment was clean and the bed linen and towels fresh, great feeling after a long flight from London. The location was also convenient for groceries, restaurants and the subway is only a few blocks away. Would definitely recommend Jeds place, a very cool introduction to Harlem thanks for a great week.

  • My friend and I stayed at Jed's place for one night and it was exactly as described on the description. The room was big and clean, so were the bathroom and kitchen. The train was really close and there were plenty of stores, restaurants, etc, steps away from the apartment. Jed provided with towels and was very accomodating to our last minute needs. I recommend anyone to stay at his place, we had a great time :)

We were 4 nights at Jedd's. Jedd and his neighbourgs are cool and provided all necessary information for our trip. The room is huge, sunny, clean and very cute. The area is completly safe and you have all services right on the corner.also good connected to midtown (15m subway). Good move.

About
Hi! Nice to meet you. I heard about AirBNB through a friend, and have been in love with the website ever since. Five things I can't live without? Family, friends, live music, home cooked food, and the sun! I've been overseas a handful of times, but I'd have to say my two favorite destinations are Valencia, Spain and Seoul, South Korea, mostly because I developed the deepest and most cherished friendships there. Some of my other favorite trips were to Puerto Rico, Paris, and Thailand. When I travel, I enjoy interacting with the people I meet much more than sightseeing or attractions. I'd rather spend a day in a park than waiting in lines and taking pictures of famous buildings. I've had incredible travel experiences, and have met amazing people along the way everywhere I've gone. I'd like to help make your travel experience to NYC as special as possible. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
