The Space

Amazing elevated Queenslander home conveniently located close to Cairns CBD.

The bus stop for the city centre is only 100 metres away or it's a 20 minute walk into the heart of Cairns.

Our 1950's home has been tastefully restored and captures the true essence of the era with our retro décor.
Surrounded by tropical gardens, our salt water pool is perfect for kicking back and relaxing in on a warm tropical day.

We are also a short 10 min walk away from a supermarket and a popular discount fashion outlet.

Your hosts Jason (cook) and Julia (nurse) and their friendly puppy dogs Eadie (French bulldog) and Luigi (???staffy something) are only too happy to make your stay fun and memorable.

Your private room is lovely, quiet, clean and air conditioned.

We provide your own fridge, but are really easy going...
If you want to share an evening meal with us, as we love to have a bit of a cook up, or cook for yourself, we don't mind either way.

Our kitchen is fully equipped, and we have all the basic ingredients.. flours, sugar, oil, milk, etc. which you are very welcome to.

We have free Wi-Fi, and you'll recieve an access code upon arrival. There is also a great café 100m away with awesome coffee and free Wi-Fi.

What's on offer:
-Free WiFi
-Free airport pick up and drop off, if we are able to
-Free self serve breakfast of fresh local fruits, Cereals, Toast and spreads, yummy fresh free range eggs from our chickens, coffee & tea, make your juice bar with fresh local tropical fruit selection
-Groovy café 100 metres away that offers great coffee and free WiFi.
-We don't mind doing local pick ups and drop offs when we are home.
-A friendly challenge on our foosball table:)

  • A fantastic introduction to Australia! Julia and Jason were not only great hosts, you want to be their friend. Super cool, and very nice, they (and their two adorable pups) made the stay a delight.

As you can see from the photos, their house is awesome. So fun! It made you just want to hang out at the house or with the flamingos around the pool. If you want to go out, though, cabs are easy to get (and I was lucky enough to get rides from Jason), and the beach is a pleasant 30-40 minute walk away (I walked a couple of times at it didn't feel that long)

  • Julez and Jason are two wonderful persons and Eadie and Luigi, their two "babies" (dogs), are also adorable.
We love vintage stuff and the house is really like on the pictures, so we absolutely loved it !
The room is beautiful (with fan and a/c), you should find a map of the city, a lot of brochures about things to do in and around Cairns and a confortable bed.
There is also a really nice swimming pool (with a spa/jacuzzi) in the garden.
Jason even came to pick us at the bus station on our arrival day and drop us off at the airport on our departure day. Thanks again, Jason!
We had such a good dinner at Mama Coco, the restaurant where Jason work as a Chef (and what a good Chef! Best Rillettes we ever had and we are French! :-). And Julez is also a great Chef at home: she cooked a really good dinner for the four of us on our last evening, we loved it!
Thank you so much, Julez and Jason, for sharing so much with us. We really felt like part of the family and it meant so much to us. Hope to see you again some day in Paris or anywhere else around the world.

  • Jason and the dogs were the friendliest AirBnB hosts we met so far. We had a very busy 5 days as we were exploring the Reef, national parks, etc, but it was always great to go back home and feel welcomed. The house has a lot of character and it's within walking distance to a bus stop (or you can walk to central Cairns if you don't mind the distance). We rented a car for a few days and it was always easy to park next to the house. It was great to be picked up from the airport on the arrival and Syd even drove us to town on our first day. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Julez and Jason are absolutely amazing hosts and we had a brilliant couple of days in Cairns. The house is incredibly cool and we felt really at home. Louis and Eadie the dogs are very sweet. Julez and Jason were really accommodating and kind. We'd love to stay here again.

  • Home away from home.
Fantastic stay with Julez and Jason!
If airbnb is giving out awards, J+J are sure to win top prize. Beautiful house, great location, amazing hosts... You can't possibly find a better place to stay in Cairns. Luigi and Eadie the house dogs are super friendly, it was great to come back after a day of touring to happy puppy tail wags and enjoy a glass of wine with Julez and Jason talking about the days adventures. We truly felt like part of the family.
The House is beautiful and spacious. Full of interesting vintage pcs. Very comfortable bed in a private room. 5-10 min bus ride down to the main esplanade in Cairns where all the fun stuff is. We wish we had booked to stay longer!

  • Between the photos, the description, the price, and the many, many stellar reviews, it was obvious I was going to have a great stay with Jason & Julia. But then I arrived, and they STILL managed to completely blow my expectations out of the water. All I can say is, consider yourself VERY lucky if you get to stay with these two fabulous people while you're in Cairns! I honestly think they are angels on earth, and are doing a huge service to travelers by opening their arms so graciously and so frequently. They could easily charge double or triple what they currently are offering, because you get everything and more: a gorgeous (and insanely comfortable) room, a fabulously fun and quirky house, two sweet and friendly dogs, an amazing breakfast spread every day, supplies like bug spray and ponchos, pick-up/drop-off when they're available, and if you're lucky, a home cooked meal or two (both of them can hold their own in the kitchen, and were welcome respite from eating out so much whilst traveling!). But most importantly, you get to stay with two cheerful, magnetic people whose conversation will brighten your day and become an instant highlight of your whole vacation. Jason & Julia, I'm working on the family lineage - there MUST be some link in our past that allows me to claim you as relatives and visit again ASAP!

  • Julez and Jason were great hosts: friendly, helpful and easy going. They picked us (my husband Norbert and me) up at the airport and dropped us off in town several times even when it was really early in the morning. It was also easy to take the bus to downtown as the bus stop is nearby. One night they were preparing an amazing dinner. We had so much fun that night, my stomach muscles were starting to hurt from so much laughing. The room and the bathroom are spacious and comfortable. Staying with Julez, Jason and their cute dogs, Luigi and Eadie was a pleasure.

  • Staying with Jules and Jason was really great. They made us feel right at home immediately and were incredibly laid back and easy going. We had a great time just hanging out and they were always offering to keep us well fed. I would definitely recommend staying with them, could not have asked for a better experience!

I Love collecting interesting things from times gone by. I am a huge fan of my husband Jason and my two puppy dogs. We are big time foodies and are always making delicious multicultural meals. Living in the tropics allows us to play around with lots of exotic ingredients and most of our guests love being pampered with our gastronomic delights. 5 things I can't live without are: Jason & the dog dogs freshly brewed coffee a herb garden a swimming pool yummy food and beverages We really love to travel and meet people from different places.
