Interaction with Guests
I pretty much keep to myself; you will RARELY see me because I'm always studying:)
There's New Orleans, the very commercialized place that would make you believe that the French Quarter is all there is. But then there's NEW ORLEANS, the city whose struggles are real but celebrations are even more real and paramount!!! We get down, and my neighborhood itself is one of the cultural centers of the city. Music and traditions run rampant through my streets from the occasional Saturday 2nd line where neighbors just join right in and dance to the brass band music, to our street preacher whose congregation is outside rather than in, and boy does he love to sing! Not too far up the road is Cafe Reconcile, an award winning restaurant that hires at risk teens and teaches them entrepreneurial skills. Any given day you'll find the mayor there or even Saints players. Let's not mention that the 2nd largest Mardi Gras parade (Zulu) literally rolls right behind my house on Fat Tuesday! Wanna join an African drumming circle and meditate? Right around the corner! Want some of the best crawfish, shrimp, corn and potatoes? You guessed it, right around the corner! So, if you prefer the stately mansions of St. Charles Avenue as the view from your window, this accommodation is NOT for you. Yet, if you want to get the local's perspective of living and partake in some of the cities' oldest traditions, then come right along. However, anything that you would want to see or do provides convenience in EVERY direction of my house:
(North) 7 blocks from the Superdome (seriously...everyone in this neighborhood walks together to the Saints games!) and the NEW trolley that goes from the Superdome for a short ride to Canal Street, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, and more!
(East) 10 blocks to the St. Charles Avenue trolley
(West) 3 blocks from Interstate-10
(South) Easy cab ride to the Tulane/Loyola University area
My bike is yours for your stay and comes with a lock! Or…you can take the RTA which is three blocks away. Or…you can take a cab...
It's New Orleans! No curfew...have fun...be safe...be polite...and leave the house better than you found it!
Had a great time in New Orleans. Whitney opened up her house for me and helped with anything I needed. I didn't see her much as she was working but when I did she was very friendly and made sure I everything was ok or if she could help in any way. She left a list of her favourite spots to see, eat and party which was thoughtful.
Whitney is a wonderful, giving host. We stayed at her home over the second weekend of Jazzfest, plus a few days before and after. We rented a car and had no trouble with parking. Whitney was only a phone call away if we had questions and made us feel at home. She has a cute and very quiet dog, Coco, who totally lives in her room.
Our room was comfy and her welcoming house is as nice as the photo. Although there was a bicycle for our use, as I said we ended up renting a car. The Enterprise car rental office was only about 1.5 miles from her house.
New Orleans is great place to visit, super music, delicious food.
Whitney is a kind and considerate host!
Staying with Whitney was fantastic, she greeted us at the door, give us a key and showed us to our room. She also had a list of great things to do in New Orleans! We were able to complete half of it and it didn't let us down! The entire experience was great! We even got to sit through a powerful thunder storm! Another thing that was helpful was Whitney offer her cell number and said "...feel free to text me if you have any questions about a place you want to try!" Overall my boyfriend and I had a great time and I believe Whitney had a huge part in that! We can't wait to come back!
The room and house were clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood is undergoing some renovation but it is New Orleans everywhere is under constructions.
The bus was a short walk away and takes you directly to the center of town. I rode the bike down to Charles St giggling at my lack of experience on a back peddle bike.
Whitney was out most of the time so it was quiet and comfortable.
Whitney's house is very clean and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed for our stay, and Whitney gave great recommendations on places to go and things to do in NOLA. She also very kindly gave us a ride into the French Quarter on our first day. Thanks for a great stay Whitney!

About the Host, Whitney
I work in education, so it's my job to be extremely organized and friendly. I love New Orleans' nightlife from the food to the live music...there's never a dull moment!
