The Space

The advertised rooms (2 available) are furnished, carpeted, and contain a full-sized bed. They make up part of my contemporary 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bathroom home (GROUPS WELCOMED)! It is spacious and very modern, and you will certainly enjoy:) The rooms can accommodate TWO guests each. In addition, towels, soap, a blowdryer, umbrella, ect. are all provided so that you won't have to weigh down your luggage! Most people will tell you that the easiest way to get around the city is by bike, so you are more than welcome to use my cruiser!

The House Comes with the following Amenities: *Cable & Wifi, Assess to the kitchen so that you can cook or store your food, access to Washer/Dryer/ detergent, access to front & backyard, and Off-street parking.

Interaction with Guests

I pretty much keep to myself; you will RARELY see me because I'm always studying:)

The Neighborhood

There's New Orleans, the very commercialized place that would make you believe that the French Quarter is all there is. But then there's NEW ORLEANS, the city whose struggles are real but celebrations are even more real and paramount!!! We get down, and my neighborhood itself is one of the cultural centers of the city. Music and traditions run rampant through my streets from the occasional Saturday 2nd line where neighbors just join right in and dance to the brass band music, to our street preacher whose congregation is outside rather than in, and boy does he love to sing! Not too far up the road is Cafe Reconcile, an award winning restaurant that hires at risk teens and teaches them entrepreneurial skills. Any given day you'll find the mayor there or even Saints players. Let's not mention that the 2nd largest Mardi Gras parade (Zulu) literally rolls right behind my house on Fat Tuesday! Wanna join an African drumming circle and meditate? Right around the corner! Want some of the best crawfish, shrimp, corn and potatoes? You guessed it, right around the corner! So, if you prefer the stately mansions of St. Charles Avenue as the view from your window, this accommodation is NOT for you. Yet, if you want to get the local's perspective of living and partake in some of the cities' oldest traditions, then come right along. However, anything that you would want to see or do provides convenience in EVERY direction of my house:

(North) 7 blocks from the Superdome (seriously...everyone in this neighborhood walks together to the Saints games!) and the NEW trolley that goes from the Superdome for a short ride to Canal Street, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, and more!
(East) 10 blocks to the St. Charles Avenue trolley
(West) 3 blocks from Interstate-10
(South) Easy cab ride to the Tulane/Loyola University area

Getting around

My bike is yours for your stay and comes with a lock! Or…you can take the RTA which is two corners away. Or…you can take a cab...

  • We had a great time staying at Whitney's place. Whitney was incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. She gave us some great suggestions for what to do during our stay. Whitney was very organized and the house was really nice and very clean. We would definitely stay here again.

  • My experience with the host was simply sweet. Whitney was very personable. Meeting her was a pleasure. She had such a calming spirit. The house was just as I expected. Every room was identical to the listing photo. I was very pleased. It really felt like a home away from home for me. And I just loved the open windows and the sunlight beaming through. I told Whitney that I was an exhibitionist and that I didn't mind "no curtains" concept. She laughed. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Just enough pillows and covers. Cozy. I didn't get a chance to ride the bike or chat with Whitney for too long because I was too busy coordinating a wedding. But the next time I'm back in New Orleans, I'm staying at Whitney's place and riding the bike!

  • Whitney's home was a pleasant change for someone used to staying in a different hotel each week. A modern double shotgun, very comfortable and nicely decorated.

The room was clean, and the bed very comfortable.

Even though I did not get the chance to meet her in person, after speaking with her on the phone, and feeling the spirit and charm at her house, Whitney is a unique and lovely person.

Will book here again in the future.

I wish that I would have had the time to take out the bike or read some of the books!

  • Whitney and her little dog have been wonderful hosts and I can recommend her place without any hesitation. The little house is centrally located and she allowed me to use her bike during my entire stay, which made my New Orleans visit and experience even more pleasant.

  • We stayed with Whitney for 4 nights, the house was immaculate, clean, and has a very homely feel to it with a New Orleans charm. Whitney was very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay, recommended a few things we didn't know about which made our stay in New Orleans even better!!!!!! We enjoyed the night Church service just up the street. The bus service was very handy being just around the corner within walking distance. Shops and other amenities are not far, the famous Magazine St is reachable by car within 5 minutes. Would highly recommend staying here and would do so again when we visit NOLA.

  • Whitney was incredible. She really made us feel like family and took care of anything we needed during our stay. She was above and beyond what is normally expected and we were grateful for the chance to meet her. She made our stay as good as it could be. Cozy room with plenty of natural light made for a great nights rest. Clean and tidy. We would love to come back here. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

  • Wow. Whitney's place is brilliant. Really felt like we had the house to ourselves and so comfy.

It's definitely not as bad an area as some have suggested, though. We (two British guys) frequently walked to and from the centre without any issues at all, besides the odd person asking for a couple dollars. If you're smart, you'll be fine.

  • Whitney is very nice and her house is beautiful! The neighborhood seems a bit rough but we didn't have any problem. Thanks!

  • Whitney was an excellent host. I stayed for 8 days: attending a conference at Hyatt Regency for the first 4, then exploring the city for the next 4. Even though she's a young professional with a busy schedule, she was there to provide support when I needed it the most (delayed inbound flight, losing my keys the next day...) and privacy when I came in stumbling with a Hand Grenade drink. Whitney wants you to know that New Orleans is the Big Easy where "on laisse les bon temps rouler," and she provides an excellent home base - and a bike!! - for letting the good times roll. Plus, her dog Keaux-Keaux is just a bundle of energy and an absolute delight.

I wanted to add a bit of information on public transit: her place is 2 minutes walk away from a bus route to Poydras/Canal/French Quarter, and another bus route to the Amtrak station, which is in turn a few minutes walk to the US Postal Service building for your postcard/shipping needs and the Hyatt Regency where airport/tour pickups are arranged. Buses have bike racks, so you can take Whitney's bike with you and breeze through the French Quarter to get to the foot of Frenchmen St. where real New Orleans music happens (shh, keep it a secret... d'oh!).

Thank you Whitney and Keaux-Keaux! You helped me fall in love with the Crescent City, and I can't wait to be back.

  • Whitney is such a wonderful host ! She's friendly and very helpful. She advised us about all the best spots downtown and shared her knowledge of the city.
The neighborhood seems a bit rough during the night so we took some cabs to go back and forth the French Quarter (about 5mn-$10 // or 15 minutes with the bike she lends). But it is well located (rather central to go everywhere). And the house is very nice, warm and clean.
    Very good experience !
