Our house has beautiful views of Mt. Tamalpais and we are only minutes from the Dipsea trail, a 10 minute walk to downtown Mill Valley and a 30 minute drive to both San Francisco and Stinson Beach. There is public transportation available to SF and Stinson.

Please note that we are early to bed and early to rise and are right about your room walking around typically from 7am on.

The Neighborhood

We live in a spectacular area of Mill Valley, close to the Dipsea Trail, with great views of Mt. Tamalpais and just a short, beautiful walk thru redwoods to downtown Mill Valley.

We are a 15 minute walk to the only bus route in Marin - taking you either north to Novato or south to SF.

  • Doug's au pair unit was clean, cozy and best of all, for me, just above the starting line of the Dipsea Race. I was able to walk down the Dipsea Stairs to the starting line without the stress of driving, parking etc. Doug was also extremely accommodating with our arrival and departure time, which was enormously helpful.

  • The Mill Valley home is in a beautiful setting with a lush garden, trees and screened views of the mountain. It was quite and near biking and hiking trails, really important to me. In the three months of my stay, I rarely saw Doug and his family. While the room is very small, it has everything I needed including cable TV, coffee maker and a small fridge and had a feeling of a South-of-France apartment.

  • Beyond great. Quiet, charming, perfect location for exploring the wilds -- or restaurants -- of Marin.

  • Our stay at Doug's place was great. Very quaint and home-y. There were many amenities provided such as a space heater, a coffee maker with coffee, and even a toaster. It was a great visit and we will definitely be coming back again!

  • A bright, cheerful and comfortable spot which was a respite from relentless (and much needed) rain. A great launch pad for lower Marin. Very private with excellent hosts.

  • Great stay in a beautiful location. My girlfriend took me out to Mill Valley for my birthday and we spent the weekend in the private side unit at Doug's place. Couldn't have asked for much more.

Clean unit, complete with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker (with coffee/milk/sugar!), TV with hundreds of channels, and space heater in case it gets chilly. If you stay here, ask Doug about hiking down the trail into town. Quite the adventure and scenery.

Smallest of issues (both of which they can fix in no time): Internet was spotty, and windows did not have curtains/shades.

I still give the stay 5 stars, since it was a quiet, private spot (shades weren't all that important), and as we were there to explore the coast and the town, there wasn't much reason to use the web anyway.

  • This was a perfect getaway. We took a trip to Mill Valley for an anniversary dinner at El Paseo, and this was the perfect place right outside of town. The room was well-appointed with everything we needed (including a coffee pot, toaster, and microwave), and very private. We could come and go as needed without having to walk through the main part of the house, and there was a very nice path that led to downtown Mill Valley (although it was quite a grueling escapade- wear walking shoes). We were also able to enjoy a trail run before leaving in the morning, which is a must-do in the Mount Tam. area.

Highly recommend for weekend escapes to a beautiful little town in Marin. Perfect for two people.

  • My first airbnb stay. Thought room was smallish, host kind, quality of room pretty good, and location excellent.
