Interaction with Guests
We are available for help and to answer questions/make suggestions, but the guest interaction is minimal.
We live in a spectacular area of Mill Valley, close to the Dipsea Trail, with great views of Mt. Tamalpais and just a short, beautiful walk thru redwoods to downtown Mill Valley.
We are a 15 minute walk to the only bus route in Marin - taking you either north to Novato or south to SF.
1. No smoking
2. No noise after 10pm
3. No parking in our driveway - there is plenty of parking on Sunset Lane or across the street on Douglas.
4. No pay-per-view shows.
5. Keep all gates to the yard/patio closed at all times so that deer can't enter our yard.
I had a great experience staying at Doug's place. The room was clean and perfect for what I needed. The bed was comfortable and I loved that he had an electric teapot. The location is beautiful and very quiet. Doug was very friendly and helped me settle in when I arrived, and then left me to do my own thing, which was perfect. I would definitely stay here again!
Doug was very responsive via email and texts. Though I did not meet him in person, all my needs were attended to. This location is not easy to find in the dark--but GPS got me here without issue.
Great little private spot, perfect for what I needed. I was in town for a professional development course. Suite was orderly and neat. The weather was a little on the chilly side, and though there was no heat, the room had a portable heater and very warm comforter.
Doug was available via text/phone as needed, however because I was on business, I was not fortunate enough to take advantage of his knowledge of tourism suggestions.
Parking was a bit tight due to the narrow streets, but there was always a spot available.
I was unable to utilize the stairway in the back of the house leading down into town due to timing and unfortunate (temporary) physical constraints. WIsh I could have..next time!
We just ended our 11 day stay with Doug and found this to be the perfect place to stay while we were visiting family in Mill Valley for the holidays. It is close to town the beach, San Francisco and the wine country. The room is very comfortable and the bed was just the thing for cold winter nights.
Doug was not intrusive but was available if needed and respected our privacy. While this unit is below their living space Doug and his family were very quiet and you don't hear a thing after 9pm.
We visit family in Mill Valley 2 or 3 times a year and this is a great alternative to any hotel and we will definitely stay here again.
My wife and I loved our short getaway in Mill Valley. Doug's place was small and inviting and in a great location; perfect for what we were looking for. The unit is centrally located near hiking trails, Muir Woods, and the local beaches; and it's very easy to grab food in Mill Valley. If you're looking for a comfortable quiet base-camp and do not require a kitchen, this is it!
Doug was an outstanding host. The location was minutes away from downtown mill valley and an easy commute to north beach san fran.
The apartment was very private and Doug and his family were very accomodating. Not being able to take Doug up on his generous offer to share his upcoming project was my only regret. Doug, sorry I ran out of time and we couldn't get together and compare "notes". Thanks for making my stay in Cali so seem less.
Doug was very pleasant and came out to greet us immediately when he saw that we had arrived. He was very helpful, in constant communication with us, prior to our arrival date, and gave us plenty of helpful, and very adequate directions. This place is located in a beautiful area of the hills above Mill Valley. It's a perfect location for people who like to walk, hike or bicycle amongst the hills. Also, it's a very quiet setting for people who need that for comfortable sleeping. I've got a physical issue with my spine, so I am in regular need of handrails when walking on terrain that isn't level, or while using stairs. So I mention this in case future guests might have a similar situation, as there are rather large steps without handrails that COULD present a problem for some.
A Mill Valley husband and father of 2 kids ( ages 9 & 8), and an entrepreneur involved in 3 start-ups in the past 10 years. I am currently developing China Live ((website hidden)). We love living in Mill Valley since we get the best of the Marin outdoors with the proximity to San Francisco.
