  • Beyond great. Quiet, charming, perfect location for exploring the wilds -- or restaurants -- of Marin.

  • Our stay at Doug's place was great. Very quaint and home-y. There were many amenities provided such as a space heater, a coffee maker with coffee, and even a toaster. It was a great visit and we will definitely be coming back again!

  • A bright, cheerful and comfortable spot which was a respite from relentless (and much needed) rain. A great launch pad for lower Marin. Very private with excellent hosts.

  • Great stay in a beautiful location. My girlfriend took me out to Mill Valley for my birthday and we spent the weekend in the private side unit at Doug's place. Couldn't have asked for much more.

Clean unit, complete with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker (with coffee/milk/sugar!), TV with hundreds of channels, and space heater in case it gets chilly. If you stay here, ask Doug about hiking down the trail into town. Quite the adventure and scenery.

Smallest of issues (both of which they can fix in no time): Internet was spotty, and windows did not have curtains/shades.

I still give the stay 5 stars, since it was a quiet, private spot (shades weren't all that important), and as we were there to explore the coast and the town, there wasn't much reason to use the web anyway.

  • This was a perfect getaway. We took a trip to Mill Valley for an anniversary dinner at El Paseo, and this was the perfect place right outside of town. The room was well-appointed with everything we needed (including a coffee pot, toaster, and microwave), and very private. We could come and go as needed without having to walk through the main part of the house, and there was a very nice path that led to downtown Mill Valley (although it was quite a grueling escapade- wear walking shoes). We were also able to enjoy a trail run before leaving in the morning, which is a must-do in the Mount Tam. area.

Highly recommend for weekend escapes to a beautiful little town in Marin. Perfect for two people.

  • My first airbnb stay. Thought room was smallish, host kind, quality of room pretty good, and location excellent.

  • Our stay out Doug's exceeded my actually pretty high expectations. My husband and I came to go for a trail run and Doug's house is perfectly situation on a incredible outlook, yet very private - located just a half a mile from the world-famous Dipsea Trail, which we took all the way to Stinson Beach. His place is also very close to downtown Mill Valley, which is a lovely town. The bed was comfortable, there was a cofee maker and the shower was nice. We were even allowed a later check out to shower after our run. We would most definitely stay here again and I hope we get a chance to. In other words, it was perfect. (and Doug is super nice and kind of reminded me of the front singer of the Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne - this is a good thing) - Thanks Doug & Family!

  • Doug's in-law unit tucked into the hills above Mill Valley is small but clean, private and nicely appointed. I visited on short-notice for work reasons, and Doug was able to respond quickly. Although I didn't get a chance to meet him in person, he seems to be very friendly. You have a lot of privacy here because the unit has a separate entrance, and if you just want to be on your own and not be bothered to interact, you can. The neighborhood is beautiful and serene, though getting to the house twisting through the woods with narrow uphill lanes and hairpin turns can be a challenge at night. Best to arrive during daylight. The only thing to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper and want to sleep past 7:30 am is that the unit is under the main living areas of the house where there are hardwood floors. Consequently, there is a lot of noise and vibration from the foot traffic above, which will definitely wake you each morning! If you are an early riser, it should present no issue. That said, I experienced complete quiet after 8:30 at night until 7:30 am, and slept better than I have in months. As I tend to be in insomniac, that's saying something! If you are out and about all day and come back basically to sleep, this is the perfect, private place to stay and a good value for the area. I recommend it and would certainly stay again!
