Check In
  • Beautiful rooms and relaxing atmosphere. Very close to Shenandoah National Park. I highly recommend and would stay here again.

  • We arrived around 8:00 p.m. on the day of our check-in. Kumud was very efficient and quick to respond to our texts notifying her that we would be arriving later in the evening. We were provided our key pad information and went straight to our room. The room was absolutely beautiful, we were greeted with soothing music playing upon entering the room and the coffee and additional amentities included were wonderful. I really look forward to seeing the shared space of the Green Barn when it is completed. We did not have a chance to meet David but we met Kumud when we were exploring the grounds. She was very nice and helpful. We look forward to coming back!

  • I went to the Eco Spa Retreat with four other friends for a low-key bachelorette party, and it was perfect! The rooms were clean and cozy and well-outfitted. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking dinner. We didn't take advantage of the sauna or fire pit, but we did walk around the grounds a little bit. The location is perfect - far enough away from civilization that there's no cell phone service, but close enough to Stanardsville/Ruckersville to make a quick pharmacy/grocery run. We went to Glass House and Moss wineries (less than half an hour away), which were absolutely beautiful (and I've been to my fair share of near-Cville wineries), and we also visited a nearby alpaca farm, which was a highlight.

  • This place is a diamond in the rough. Peaceful, relaxing, wonderful. The details to all of the wood work down to the welcoming music..... loved it. We felt very comfortable and at home .

  • The White Lotus Eco Spa Retreat was everything we expected and more! The setting was not just a retreat, it was a haven. Two nights is just not enough to enjoy all the relaxing tranquil setting. The hosts David and Kumud are delightful and only wish we could of setup a yoga session during our stay. We had a big group and were able to rent all the rooms which everyone was beautiful and very comfortable. We used the gourmet kitchen which was more adequate and the grills outside each room were awesome. I would recommend White Lotus Eco Spa Retreat and am looking forward to another escape soon!

  • Perfect :) The place is still being put together and I can't wait to see what it will be like when finished! It's already gorgeous.

    April 2014
  • This was our second stay at White Lotus. The first time was just for one night, and it was so enticing that we came back for 6 more days. We had a wonderful time and David and Kumud are ideal hosts - really more like great neighbors who are very helpful and make sure you are having a great time. My wife used the lunar sauna and loved it, and I went for morning runs through the surrounding farmland. It was beautiful. The rooms are all very personal, cozy and have high quality unique furnishings. The kitchen is fully appointed and great place to hang out, meet other travelers. We also made day trips to Charlottesville (about 30 min) or Skyline drive (about 10-15 min) away for a full range of activities - from hiking to arts and cultural destinations. We also were traveling with our 11 month old daughter, who was welcomed by David and Kumud. We had plenty of room for bath time (great tub), and to set up a pack 'n play. Also, the room and floor were so clean that we had no hesitation to let our baby play on the floor. This is now our favorite airbnb destination.

    April 2014
  • David and Kumud have a lovely set up with beautiful rooms that are clean and provide everything one could need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone!

    April 2014
  • I would recommend White Lotus Eco Spa Resort as a great place to get away. The hosts were so kind and the room was extremely clean. We were there during a snowstorm and couldn't get up the hill to leave and David was kind enough to give us a tow out and offer his help if we got stuck getting back out to the main road.

  • This place is amazing. There is a lot to see and do here. We look forward to a return stay.

David Clark, a native of central Virginia, and architect of Green Barn has worked professionally as an electronic technician, D.J, photographer, chef, yoga instructor, builder, and heavy equipment operator, but he is best known as "The Chainsaw Comedian". For twenty-five years, David entertained around the world: taking flowers from ladies’ fingers with a sixteen-foot bullwhip, shooting balloons off men's heads from a unicycle, even juggling an egg, torch, and running chainsaw! His passion for nature, architecture, and global travel (36 countries and counting) fuels his current project: a self-sustaining retreat center in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1998, while traveling in Tamil Nadu, India, he met Kumud. Two years later, David invited her to co-direct a yoga-video production in Bollywood; a week into the project they decided to get married. While helping victims of the 2004 tsunami in Asia, they decided to establish International Community, an organization that creates local green businesses in order to help the underprivileged and often-forgotten people with whom we share the (website hidden) Barn is a part of David's dream to share this area’s natural beauty and bring people from different walks of life together to learn, play, and grow. Kumud - I am a native of Coimbatore (India) where I spent a good part of my life growing up, schooling & teaching yoga. Stanardsville, VA although very different from my world in India, has become a wonderful haven and a place I am delighted to call home. Spent many years in customer service both here and in India, but now, mainly I spend my time teaching yoga at our church nearby. My other passions are dance, cooking and learning new languages. It has been fun exploring many different cuisines in this country which is such a melting pot of cultures. My joy of cooking has inspired me to teach some Indian vegetarian cooking classes as my schedule allows. Rural living has introduced me to cooking fresh from the garden, that I have learned to tend from David. We also love to travel, especially to warmer parts of the world over the cold winters here. We have created a urban suite with modern facilities amidst our beautiful quiet woods. We welcome you!.
