The Space

This little one room cabin is the size of a small victorian garden room.

It is quiet and private, a short brick path away from our home. It is furnished simply with an antique brass bed, a dresser and a vintage suitcase record player (choose from our vast collection of vinyl to listen to during your stay!)

It is clean, insulated and cozy with its own little fireplace heater :)
Friends, family and airBnB guests LOVE it! (like a little art installation - it's my favorite place to escape when no one is around :)

There is a beautiful outdoor tub under a willow tree for late night baths under the stars, but you can, of course, also use our full bathroom in the main house.

((An organic egg and pancake breakfast -cooked by me and served on your private patio table by the cabin- is available for an extra $15 for 1 or $20 for 2 of you :)) Gluten free options available!

*IMPORTANT NOTE:
Although the cabin has had lots of really sweet reviews by the hundreds of wonderful guests we've had these last 2 years, it's important to realize its not for everyone! It's just a tiny room in a garden (like a treehouse on the ground, a secret fort, a surfer shack) that just happens to be insulated and clean and smells good ;)

The bathroom is inside our main house, so you do have to walk outside of the cabin and inside the main hall. The outdoor tub is under a tree, so there might be leaves. This cabin is for those looking for the unique human adventure, a more authentic "Santa Cruzian" exerience. Few are impervious to its magic!

*IMPORTANT NOTE #2 - we have recently been contacted by the city about the transportation taxes due. Just like several of the other top listings who have "gone legit" , we need to start collecting the tax in cash on arrival because airbnb does not have a section where we can add this - it's $10/night. Please bring at check in. Thanks!!

Guest Access

As described in the listing description, guests share our full bathroom inside the house

  • We stayed at Michelle's cabin for a night as part of a tour of the west coast for our honeymoon.

The cabin was in an absolutely gorgeous setting, teaming with atmosphere and character. Some of our fondest memories of the trip will be from soaking in the tub under the willow tree and listening to music on the scratchy old record player.

The location was fantastic for both beach and downtown. Some great food places nearby, especially the Brazilian restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

When the time to leave came we were sorry to go and wished we'd have planned to stay longer.

  • The cabin is accurately presented in the photos - cute, rustic, and just the basics. Do know that "by the beach" is not exactly accurate - it was at least a 15 minute walk, and the bathroom is shared and a bit of a walk into the house in the middle of the night. It sits in the backyard of a house that was a bit too "hostel" for our taste (though very open and friendly), and not quite as private as I had expected (the backyard was used for a mild social gathering that evening), but I can imagine would (email hidden) for a younger person or couple. We were on our honeymoon, biking down the coast, and found this to be more than adequate as a resting stop, but not sure we had a chance to appreciate Michelle and the other guests.

  • BETTER THAN THE PICTURES!! :) :) :)

The cabin/desciption is completely accurate! It is like extremely fancy camping. It is way more private than the pictures make it seem. There is a large shared backyard and then there is a private smaller backyard for the cabin specifically where there is dining furniture, an outdoor sofa, and an outdoor bathtub under a willow tree. We loved the bath! Water was very hot and bubbles were provided. During our stay we continuously noticed small details that made our stay more enjoyable. The lavender aroma therapy spray next to the bed was just one of the many details that added to the experience.

In the morning we walked to get (email hidden) called "Coffeetopia" and they had the BEST breakfast burritos made with local eggs, cheese, tomatos, and cilantro. We took it back to the airbnb and ate in the quaint backyard. It was an experience in and of itself. We could have spent the whole day in the backyard it was so lovely! Michelle has an incredible art collection and has created some really cool outdoor instillations in the yards.

We drove down to the pier area and went on all the rollercoasters. At night they have a special where each ride is only a dollar. We had an amazing seafood dinner on the pier. So lovely.

I highly recommend staying at Michelle's cabin! I would go back in a heartbeat.

  • Although we only had one night at this wonderful place we
really enjoyed our night in the romantic cabin in your back yard.
Showering in your “open-air” bathroom the morning after,
was a really great experience, too.
Michelle was a lovely and welcoming host and very helpful with any questions.
We definitely would stay there again.

  • We booked Michelle's studio as a gift for some friends last year and they were the ones that recommended we check out the cabin. We are so glad we did! The location is excellent-- walkable to downtown AND the beach. The cabin is adorable and the outdoor tub is amazing! It is definitely like really fancy glamping, which was perfect for us. We hope to return again soon!

  • This was my first airbnb experience and I loved it! The cabin was beautiful (email hidden) to relax after my road trip through the USA.
Michelle's welcome was great, she gave a tour through her beautiful house. A good friend from me surprised me with a very delicious lunch after a surf morning made by Michelle. Because I was traveling alone, Michelle also took me out that night for drinks and we had a great time. I can really recommend this place to everyone. It is in a very nice neighborhood, comfortable, clean and (email hidden)!

  • We've used airbnb for a while now and Michelle's cabin perfectly embodies the concept: it feels like staying (email hidden) and is a one-of-a-kind accommodation at the same time! The cabin is absolutely beautiful and cozy in a cool, huge and artsy garden. We loved it!! The bath tub and BBQ were very much appreciated extras! Michelle also had lots of good tips and (email hidden). We loved the place and would definitely come back if ever in Santa Cruz again! :-)

  • Michelle (email hidden) and very accommodating towards my girlfriend and I during our stay. She gave us terrific recommendations on places to eat and visit in Santa Cruz and I appreciated the complimentary fruit and pastries that she had for us. We'll definitely be back again!
