  • We loved it! Went canoeing on the pond, took pictures of the wildflowers, and listened to the owls at night. The flatscreen TV with Netflix and Pandora radio provided in the room were much appreciated. I would definitely return!

  • We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the treehouse! We went to bed with the sound of frogs and woke up to woodpeckers. It was a great place to "unplug." David and Kumud were excellent hosts who made a point of getting to know us and checking in periodically to make sure we had everything we needed.

The surrounding area has opportunities for wine tasting and hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, but thanks to the personal and detailed guidebook provided in the room, we were able to take advantage of so much more. We visited a local alpaca farm and watched a potter at work thanks to Kumud and David's suggestions. We also highly recommend attending Kumud's yoga class!

  • This was a wonderful retreat setting to celebrate our anniversary. The tree house was unique and comfortable. The hosts were welcoming and the grounds were peaceful. The common areas were inviting and we enjoyed cooking our dinner in the kitchen. Just wished we had longer to stay.

  • My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the tree hour and had a great time! It is close to Sky Line Drive and many wineries (if you go to Stone Mountain Winery, do not go by gps! Gps takes you up a scary mountain road..,but the views are awesome). The tree house is cute and quiet and David and Kumud are excellent hosts! It was nice to relax on one of the decks after a day of hiking. And Kumud gave us great advice on 2 hikes to take. Great time!!

  • David and Kumud were very welcoming and hospitable. The grounds are well cared for and very quiet. The room as well as the common areas are well appointed. We were not there long enough to get to take advantage of all of the offerings but plan on returning soon!

  • David and Kumud's Treehouse was exactly what we hoped for on our honeymoon. The location was very peaceful and serene and the house was nicely tucked into the trees just as pictured. We tried out the lunar suana twice (a great thing to do at night - especially after a long day of hiking on the trails in nearby Shenandoah National Park) and we even did some yoga in the solar sauna. We sat outside on our lofted treehouse porch in the morning sun and had some delicious coffee (provided by our hosts) - a truly luxurious way to start the day! We used the grill and the kitchen to cook up some great meals as well. The room inside was really comfortable and easily climate controlled with a fan and AC. We met both david and kumud briefly and they were super friendly and close by if we needed anything (but we everything was so well organized we didn't have to bother them at all). It really is a special place and we hope to return again (maybe in the winter season)!

  • We had an awesome stay in the tree house. Loved the uniqueness. Very quiet and lovely part of Virginia. Found plenty to do in the area. Very relaxing. David and Kumud were great hosts.

  • We spent the first few days of our honeymoon at the Tree House and absolutely loved it! It was actually a surprise for my wife, I hadn't told her anything about where we would be staying and it's safe to say her mind was blown. It was the perfect getaway. We both loved the uniqueness of the tree house and area surrounding it. We found plenty to do in the local area and David and Kumud were very accommodating. We can't wait to bring family back to make use of the suites in the Green Barn and Castle.

  • The treehouse exceeded our expectations! The entire property is like a quiet dreamland. We walked in and found a beautiful, clean room with relaxing music playing. The bed was so comfortable as well. We were pleasantly surprised to find breakfast bars and chocolate, and fruit drinks in the fridge. The coffee and coffee maker provided were amazing as well.
We loved hanging out in front, behind and below the house and listening to the sounds of nature all around us. David and Kumud could not have been nicer and more accommodating.
Also, if you like hiking like we do then Shenandoah National Park is close by.
I'm now back in NY daydreaming about being back at the treehouse and can't wait to go back. If you're looking for a great experience then stay here!

David Clark, a native of central Virginia, and architect of Green Barn has worked professionally as an electronic technician, D.J, photographer, chef, yoga instructor, builder, and heavy equipment operator, but he is best known as "The Chainsaw Comedian". For twenty-five years, David entertained around the world: taking flowers from ladies’ fingers with a sixteen-foot bullwhip, shooting balloons off men's heads from a unicycle, even juggling an egg, torch, and running chainsaw! His passion for nature, architecture, and global travel (36 countries and counting) fuels his current project: a self-sustaining retreat center in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1998, while traveling in Tamil Nadu, India, he met Kumud. Two years later, David invited her to co-direct a yoga-video production in Bollywood; a week into the project they decided to get married. While helping victims of the 2004 tsunami in Asia, they decided to establish International Community, an organization that creates local green businesses in order to help the underprivileged and often-forgotten people with whom we share the (website hidden) Barn is a part of David's dream to share this area’s natural beauty and bring people from different walks of life together to learn, play, and grow. Kumud - I am a native of Coimbatore (India) where I spent a good part of my life growing up, schooling & teaching yoga. Stanardsville, VA although very different from my world in India, has become a wonderful haven and a place I am delighted to call home. Spent many years in customer service both here and in India, but now, mainly I spend my time teaching yoga at our church nearby. My other passions are dance, cooking and learning new languages. It has been fun exploring many different cuisines in this country which is such a melting pot of cultures. My joy of cooking has inspired me to teach some Indian vegetarian cooking classes as my schedule allows. Rural living has introduced me to cooking fresh from the garden, that I have learned to tend from David. We also love to travel, especially to warmer parts of the world over the cold winters here. We have created a urban suite with modern facilities amidst our beautiful quiet woods. We welcome you!.
