I stayed at Katy's from December to May for my last semester of college and it was a great place to stay. It was very spacious and well-kept, and she had full sets of what you needed to cook and eat, which was great. It's very close to AU's main campus (10 minute walk) and Spring…

I stayed here for all of Fall of 2017. I'd have to agree with the points made by the tenant preceding me. It is nice, but definitely overpriced. At first I thought the price was worth it because she described it as being "2 blocks from AU Law school," which is where I'm studying…

Response from Katy:
Luis - thank you for your thoughts. I did neglect to update the listing when the Law School changed locations several months ago. I would have happily discussed altering the terms of your stay or shortening it so you could move. I suggest if you use airbnb in the future, that it's best to raise these concerns in real time as opposed to at the end of a three-month stay - most hosts are open to doing whatever they can to make their guests comfortable. The cleaning ladies do come every other week, and I always do my best to provide notice. Obviously, this free service is intended to be a benefit for guests, but is entirely optional. They usually come around 9:30/10 in the morning, which has not been an issue for other guests, but if it was too early for you, it would have been helpful to know so I could either not have them clean the apartment, or tried to see if they could come later.

I lived in Katy’s basement apartment for 3 months during the summer of 2017. In short, I think the place she is offering is nice BUT way overpriced considering what you get/don’t get. Read below for more detail. 1) You sort of have a kitchen. There’s a hot plate, microwave, min…

Thanks for the thoughtful review, Gabby. Just wanted to respond on a few points: - On the entryway, I checked it after seeing your review and saw the exterior lightbulb had burned out. That makes a big difference. I wish I had known you were having issues and I would have checked it earlier! - The AC/heating unit is new (I installed it to give the guests direct control over the temperature in the unit), but clearly it is a big pull on the power. Again, I wish I had known you were having consistent issues. I have called the electrician and they are resolving it. - I did accidentally discard one piece of mail - it had your given name as opposed to the nickname you booked with, and I just didn't make the connection - my mistake. - The kitchen equipment is exactly as described in the listing. I am always happy to provide any additional items as needed. Thanks again for staying. Please do provide feedback in real time so issues like this can be resolved more promptly. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. Thanks - Katy

My daughter stayed with Katy for a semester before she went abroad and Katy was a courteous and understanding host. This place was absolutely perfect for my daughters needs. The only issue was the lack of full kitchen and the temperature was difficult to control within the space.

I spent a terrific week in Katy's basement apartment. Quiet neighborhood with nearby stores and running routes and within easy reach of the rest of DC by metro or bus. The suite was spacious and very clean with a well-equipped kitchenette, large closet, cable TV, and the nice con…
