I rated 4 stars for the overall nice experience. Out-dated place which is kept clean. Air Conditioning worked well which was important for me. The staff was extra friendly and helpful. There is a fantastic (finer) restaurant 2 blocks away, along with plenty of good quality restaurants to choose from, and many little stores around to buy bottled water and snacks. The bed was comfortable & there is a pool table in the public area. Seems to be a safe part of the Historic Area of town. Downside: They have some outdate exercise equipment, but you can do something at least.
We booked the room on our way down from Northern Peru, only a couple of days in advance. Our communication with Linda was pretty quick (and in English!). She confirmed the availability of the room in the day of inquiry and asked us about our travel details to arrange the (complimentary) pick-up. After travelling overnight by bus to Trujillo, we got picked up at the bus terminal and dropped at the hostel. The hostel is real nice, colonial style, as most buildings in Trujillo. The room was large and clear overlooking a small patio, and the beds were quite comfy, well enjoyed after a night in the bus! The hostel is a little bit away from the main street so no problems with noise at night. The main sites of the city are within walking distance (the plaza de arma is ~15 minutes walk). Good coffee with the breakfast in the morning (included in room price). Definitely a great option if you stop by in Trujillo!!
