House for Garden Lovers - Joan Deu

House - Private room · Carrer Ramon Llull, Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia 08950, Spain

The Space

Welcome to a purely residential area just outside of the heart of Barcelona at the west end of Avinguda Diagonal.

Within the 3 story house, you and max. 2 guests will have their space on the 2nd floor with closet space, library, balcony and great views over the city and sea.

Depending on our "vibes", we may or not want to spend time with each other (e.g. glass of wine in the evening), but if we don't totally match, it's not a catastrophe, as we have 2 large terraces with dining tables, a separate dining room and large kitchen with table in order to do "our own thing" with enough room for politeness.

Ground floor: living room, dining room (seats 6 - 10), well-equipped kitchen with separate eating area for 6, small toilet, wardrobe, broom closet.
2nd floor: 2 guest rooms, 1 with a small terrasse, and 1 bathroom available for you, 3 other bedrooms with adjacent bathrooms for us.
3rd floor: bedroom, extra room, bathroom, 2 terraces.

Everything is dominated by a very open, modern and spacious feeling which continues on into the surrounding garden (altogether 4 French doors at 3 different locations open up into the 3 level garden). There's a Weber grill (you should know that we have to order the "good" coal for it from abroad, so don't just assume it's for free or can replaced with the very inadequate kind one can find in Spain), 2 outdoor eating areas and in addition a Bavarian beer garden "Garnitur". We are a bit snobby (about quality) without being arrogant or opinionated. Therefore we don't like our with much love&effort equipped home to not be cared about with the same love of detail - not to mention Himalayan salt and silky-smooth olive oil :-) and fingerprints left all over our salt shaker over weeks and weeks.

The JM bus is 5 minutes down the steps/road and takes you to the metro = subway station "zona universitaria".
Another neighborhood bus, the EP2, is at our back entrance and takes you to "pons esplugues" where all "tramvias" = trams will take you in to the city. The bus doesn't run on holidays and Sundays! It is VERY residential ... don't expect bakeries or other shops within short walking distance! 15 minutes to the closest bakery on foot.

Natural reserve park Collserola is around the corner where also lots of city-people like to relax on the weekends. Great for jogging or long walks!

The main attraction is the tranquility, the stunning surrounding homes, the view over Barcelona (Montjuic, Barceloneta, the Mediterranean), the max 15 minute drive to the airport, and the max 5 minute drive to the city in the neighborhood of the Università de Barcelona. Closest city barrio is called Pedralbes, after that Sarria. Further South is "Les Corts", so Camp Nou is not only visible from our home, but also really nearby!

It is quite steep in some parts, so don't pack your roller skates, scooter or bike, unless you're crazy about working out! Mountain-bikers highly welcome!!!!

You may park your own vehicle in the street for free. The garage offers a separate washing room facility and an extra small bathroom with shower and toilet. Great for cleaning up after a day at the beach and hanging up sandy towels to dry.

We've got alarms and security cameras installed in and outside of our home as well.

About
Hola! In München geboren, raised in Illinois, vive ahora en Barcelona. You can write me in your language (DE,FRA,ESP,ISR), but I prefer to reply in English. Emails are more convenient for me, as I do travel now and then. As a host I am often too generous, so I'd prefer you to be more the modest type in terms of requesting things when here in our home and being as independent as you can. Though I like music and having people over a lot, I would prefer you to reduce your guest list to a maximum of 2 people. Especially if I should be out of town. I love nature and all those living in it! I try to avoid inconsiderate, immodest, egoistic people, and love to give and receive in exchange. My interests are mainly museums of art, historic city centers, great architecture, concerts with classical music and small venues for jazz or other lively music. Excellent food is rewarding, but not an everyday must.
