We are pleased to offer our Tea House for short term rental - a private cottage tucked in the back of our property (approximately 100 feet behind the main house). It is located in North Berkeley within walking distance of Solano Ave and many cafes, restaurants, markets, major bus lines and 15' walk to BART. Our property is very unique for Berkeley and the Tea House is magical - with a 17,000 square foot lot (our house is less that 10% of the land), there are many outdoor spaces to enjoy views of San Francisco, the Bay, and the Golden Gate bridge. The sunsets are spectacular. The Tea House offers a queen size antique Louis XVI bed (new mattress in 2012), supple Bamboo sheets, a pair of leather chairs, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, fold-out oak table for 2 or 4, Bose iStereo, CD Alarm clock, large closet and bathroom with waterfall shower. We have a pack and play available if you are traveling with an infant or toddler. The Tea House has a private outdoor patio with table for two and is next to a shared deck with a working outdoor fireplace and space heater. Wifi internet is included. We are located on a quiet cul-de-sac with ample and safe street parking. Pets are negotiable as we have a dog, chickens, and a Koi pond. The Tea House offers a very relaxing and rejuvenating home away from home for those looking for a beautiful, private, and very quiet place to stay while visiting Berkeley or the broader Bay Area.
Guests have access to all of our property including a private outdoor patio, a shared deck with fireplace, heat lamp, outdoor couches with views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge.
Interaction with Guests
We have met some great people through AirBnB and other guests have come and gone without ever meeting face to face. The Tea House is very private and the choice is yours.

Indian Rock is 20 minutes by foot offering views of the entire Bay Area. Tilden Regional Park is also a 10 minute drive away as is the UC Berkeley Campus.

Completely perfect in every way... almost don't want to tell anyone this because I'd hate to find it booked next time we're in Berkeley!
This was INCREDIBLE. I needed a writing retreat and the Teahouse is extraordinary. I walked in and felt like I had arrived at just what I needed. I am so grateful to have been able to find such a lovely place when I needed it. THANK YOU!
The serenity of the tea house, with it's breathtaking views of the bay, cannot be overstated. In the mornings, watching the the fog roll east overhead to reveal the San Francisco skyline is quite amazing. A great deal of care has been put into the landscaping and outside sitting areas. I can't wait to visit again at a time when I must work less, and can enjoy the property more. I arrived late, and did not meet Kelly, but did meet super-relaxed and welcoming JD. His kind demeanor, however, was completely overshadowed by their dog Bella. She guided us up the slightly terranes pathway to the tea house and greeted us in the mornings and walked us down to the street. Inside, the property is stocked with high-end basics, such as EO personal products, decadent towels and an assortment of stemware to accompany the very well stocked honor mini bar. The bed provided the most comfortable sleep that I've ever experienced away from home. Numerous outdoor spots for a game of chess or tech-free tea with your teen. Quite a gem!
I had a wonderful stay. Kelly and JD are great hosts who have honestly represented their beautiful and luxurious tea house. It's a great Berkley location with a spectacular view. I hope to return with my partner and highly recommend staying here.
I had an amazing stay, would highly recommend the hosts and space, and hope to come back with my partner.
I had a wonderful stay at the tea house. it is a private, cozy, and elegant space that is honestly represented in the listing, and a spectacular view of the city from a lovely hilltop garden. Kelly and JD were gracious and accommodating. They made sure I got settled and made themselves available during my stay, but allowed me to choose how much contact we had. They are generous and mindful hosts with a beautiful home and garden and a great attention to detail. The bed was luxuriously comfortable, the bathroom is beautiful, and the mini kitchen was so convenient. Even their dog Bella was freshly washed (and very fun and friendly)!
The location is lovely, but it is residential and hilly. It is an easy 10/20min walk to bus and BART stations, but I did use Uber at night to get back. There is a great little grocery store, top notch pizza, and Sunday farmer's market around the corner. Really, I never lacked for anything and got to enjoy urban adventuring and suburban living. Again, I had a spectacular stay!
Our stay at the Tea House was fantastic. Kelly and JD were quick to respond and extremely gracious. The Tea House itself was exactly as described. Great location in the hills overlooking the Bay and an easy drive to the heart of Berkeley. We would happily stay there again.
The Teahouse is delightful. I was looking for a peaceful spot to relax and found it! Kelly and JD were excellent hosts with great attention to detail. I felt welcomed and like I had a perfect amount of privacy during my stay. The gardens surrounding the Teahouse are amazing and provide wonderful views of the bay, especially during sunrise and sunset. The Teahouse itself is thoroughly stocked with pretty much anything you would need. It's gorgeously decorated and the bed is incredibly comfortable! I can't wait to come back.
