We are pleased to offer our Tea House for short term rental - a private cottage tucked in the back of our property (approximately 100 feet behind the main house). It is located in North Berkeley within walking distance of Solano Ave and many cafes, restaurants, markets, major bus lines and 15' walk to BART. Our property is very unique for Berkeley and the Tea House is magical - with a 17,000 square foot lot (our house is less that 10% of the land), there are many outdoor spaces to enjoy views of San Francisco, the Bay, and the Golden Gate bridge. The sunsets are spectacular. The Tea House offers a queen size antique Louis XVI bed (new mattress in 2012), supple Bamboo sheets, a pair of leather chairs, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, fold-out oak table for 2 or 4, Bose iStereo, CD Alarm clock, large closet and bathroom with waterfall shower. We have a pack and play available if you are traveling with an infant or toddler. The Tea House has a private outdoor patio with table for two and is next to a shared deck with a working outdoor fireplace and space heater. Wifi internet is included. We are located on a quiet cul-de-sac with ample and safe street parking. Pets are negotiable as we have a dog, chickens, and a Koi pond. The Tea House offers a very relaxing and rejuvenating home away from home for those looking for a beautiful, private, and very quiet place to stay while visiting Berkeley or the broader Bay Area.
Guests have access to all of our property including a private outdoor patio, a shared deck with fireplace, heat lamp, outdoor couches with views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge.
We have met some great people through AirBnB and other guests have come and gone without ever meeting face to face. The Tea House is very private and the choice is yours.
The Tea House is located in the Thousand Oaks neighborhood of Berkeley. There are many paths and urban hikes around the neighborhood. Indian Rock is 20 minutes by foot offering views of the entire Bay Area. Depending on your fitness, the Tea House is entirely accessible by foot with shops and public transportation within walking distance. Tilden Regional Park is also a 10 minute drive away as is the UC Berkeley Campus.
Walk, bike, car, bus, or BART are all possible while staying at the Tea House.

All travelers hope to stay in a place where they are inspired to dream. They want a cozy home with nooks and crannies. They want a book shelf full of the world's great literature. They want a space designed with color and inspiration.
JD and Katie's home provides all of this. Stay at their home. Your expectations will be surpassed.
They are super nice and the tea house is cute and comfy.
Kelly and JD were wonderful and gave you plenty of personal space. The accommodations are well represented through the pictures on the website and the neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and BART.
The obvious things that are great about this rental: the unit is gorgeous, with tasteful, classy, elegant, Buddhist-themed decoration. It is on a huge, beautifully landscaped piece of property, with an amazing deck with heatlamp and view of the sunset over the SF Bay. It is secluded (way off the street and away from neighbors) so it feels like a quite getaway nature retreat right in town. The host, JD, was friendly and helpful while at the same time giving us our space. The neighborhood is fab.
The more subtle touches that truly make this a 5-star rental: for example, the hosts left us a hand-written note welcoming us with chocolates, and have put together a sweet "honor bar" of late night snacks and libations, and even offer stamped elegant postcards to send from your stay. Bottom line: the owners truly care that you have an amazing experience in their gorgeous space. Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful hidden away place to stay, quiet and away from the urban Berkeley buzz. The view is amazing and you can catch a long slow sunset while sitting on your private front deck. The owners are great in every way!
We stayed at Kelly and JD's while in the bay area for a bit of a family reunion. They have a lovely garden that is great for wandering around. The tea house is cute, with a very comfy bed. We only meet JD during our stay, but he was an easygoing and interesting individual, made us feel very welcome.
The best part of our stay though was coming break after a day with the fam and getting to relax in front of their fire pit, with a bottle of wine and a view that stretches all the to the golden gate. A great way to end our days.
Kelly is welcoming and thoughtful. The house is charming, well furnished, and in a lovely, quiet location close to everything Berkeley offers. I will stay there the next time I am in the Bay Area.
The Tea House was a very comfortable place to stay! The property is amazing with views all the way to the bay. JD and Kelly were responsive and hospitable. We would definitely return to stay here.
What a beautiful space! Tucked high into the hills with a lovely view of the water this place is a getaway dream. The cottage is lovely with big windows and lots of light. We couldn't have asked for anything more!
The Tea House is a perfect getaway spot -- serene, clean, and comfortable. I was impressed by all the detailed amenities, and it's clear that Kelly and JD take great pride in being amazing hosts.
