  • The cottage was a perfect space for my husband and I. Easy to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go, and having the small kitchen like space was great too. We will for sure come back and stay again!

  • My husband and I drove from Utah for a much needed getaway. We absolutely loved this cottage! It was perfect for 2 and had everything you need. We were only a couple blocks from the beach and close to many restaurants so it was a prime location. It had so much more character than a hotel! We did not get to meet Chad or Jodi but they left a welcome book with detailed instructions on everything we needed. It was a great vacation spot and we would love to return! Thank you for sharing your great cottage Chad and Jodi!

  • The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a short walk to downtown for dinner and to the beach and would recommend anyone looking for a quiet get away to stay here.

  • Very clean and cozy cottage in a great location; about a 15 minute walk from downtown Santa Cruz. We appreciated the convenience of the check-in process and the ability to arrive on our own schedule.

  • What a terrific little cottage for a Santa Cruz stay! We went down for a long weekend away and had a wonderful time. The place is clean, comfy and cozy (while still having everything you need). Chad and Jodi are great and friendly. The cottage is just a few blocks from the boardwalk and a 10 min walk to the center of town; it also makes a convenient launching pad for other beaches and outdoors stuff around the town. Would totally stay again!

  • This place is great! A friend and I needed a place to relax after a day exploring Santa Cruz and were delighted with our experience. The check in process was a breeze too! I hope to visit again next time I'm in town.

  • Charm. This Beach Cottage has loads of it. On a quiet side street on top of the hill that overlooks the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk, Jodi & Chad's cottage is extremely charming. The entrance is private and separate, the converted garage has just about everything you'd want for a brief stay. One thing that might be helpful is some storage drawers for clothes or toiletries, especially on stays longer than a day or two when you want to unpack and feel settled. The kitchenette is functional and well-stocked, the bed is comfortable and the chairs are great, too. Just beware of sitting directly on the cushy ottomans - better for feet than bottoms, you might fall over. All in all we had a really nice stay and appreciate all the great thought Jodi has put into decorating the cottage. She was great to communicate with and very prompt in responding. The only slight drawback is that when we were staying, the main house was rented out, too. This meant we were sharing the property with people we didn't know would be there (instead of the owners) and - unlike Jodi's ability to see my profile and her ability to see mine - we didn't feel as comfortable with other people in the same small space as we would have if the property owners were there. One of the drawbacks of staying in a private house instead of a hotel, but on balance it was worth it. We didn't really meet the owners - just crossed paths in the driveway one day - but the experience was generally good. Just note that finding parking on the street was a bit hit or miss. Sometimes we were lucky and sometimes we had to go around the corner. But if you're looking for charm, a great location, and a cozy cottage with far more good than anything else, this is your place.

We moved to Santa Cruz in July 2011 from Chicago. It's been quite a culture shift; but we love it, we love the relaxed and friendly culture of Santa Cruz, we really think there's no place like it and we have traveled all over the world. We've been married 16 years and love sharing new experiences We've traveled to 41 countries together and have a passion for social justice issues; both globally and locally. Chad is currently pursuing a socially minded start up company focused on job creation in Rwanda and Jodi works as a psychotherapist at UCSC's Counseling & Psychological Services. Our boys love living in Santa Cruz; playing at the beach, soccer at Depot Park, or riding their scooters at the Bike Park.
