The Space

Enjoy spectacular views, close to hiking (the Ridge with Bay views) , SF Bay cruises, the fishing village of Sausalito, ferries to SF, wine country, the birthplace of mountain biking , kayaking/canoeing,(bike,canoe,kayak rental nearby),sail boat rentals, Giant Redwood trees (Muir Woods), beautiful cliffs, sandy beaches, whale watching at Point Reyes, or simply hike the Golden Gate Natural Parkland Preserves and Mount Tamalpais with abundant bird life. Your retreat has views of Mount Tamalpais and the surrounding hills, highlands and woods. Relax in your fully furnished 3 bedroom , airy, light 2 story mountain view home in beautiful Marin County, Only 20 minutes to San Francisco, or Sonoma and Napa wine country , 45 minutes from historic Point Reyes. Bodega Bay or Angel Island (the Ellis Island of the West Coast), , China Beach, and in SF of course the original Chinatown. Soak in the hot tub with views of Mount Tamalpais; relax on the two large private decks or in the landscaped garden, 2.5 baths, fireplace, wireless internet/cable, television/DVD player, iPod docking station, espresso maker, laundry facilities, fully equipped modern kitchen with unlimited tea and coffee.BBQ grill, and 2 car garage .Walking distance to historic downtown San Rafael, home to the Mill Valley Film Festival, and a wide variety of excellent restaurants (French, Chinese, Sushi Bars, Mexican, Spanish Tapas Bar, Italian,Thai,Indian, several fresh Delis and plain old American) . San Rafael also has several live music clubs, boutique retro clothes stores, coffee/tea bars, local art galleries, historical museums and one of the original Franciscan Monk Missions, Mission San Rafael. From May-October there is (email hidden) every Thursday evening on 4th street which offers local produce, along with arts and crafts and local live music. For health after sampling the many eateries these the town has several yoga studios and gyms for which classes and day passes are available for purchase. My favourites are Red Dragon Yoga on 4th street and Bikram Yoga on 2nd street. Both offers a variety of different yoga classes .May I suggest the 90 minutes Bikram sweat-fest! Transportation: several car rental companies in town plus easy access to bus service and ferries across the SF Bay to the famous Market Ferry Terminal. This (email hidden) to live and visit. The climate is Mediterranean and the air clean and fragrant. Short, weekend or long term stay are available . ENJOY!

  • This was the second time we stayed here and again had a great experience. Glyn (email hidden) and we hope to stay here every time we visit Marin County.

  • We loved the house with its beautiful gardens and wonderful view. Our host, Glyn Davies, went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. He wasn't in the immediate area but made sure we had easy access to him, checking in with us to see if we needed anything. We'll definitely be back.

  • A great house, well located, and well suited to three colleagues travelling together. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms gave us a degree of individual privacy. The large living room and kitchen were fully equipped, and the garden was a delight with two separate large decking areas, and a third bench at the top of a slope. We didn't use the hot tub. But we did use the garage. A great location a few minutes from the highway, and with other houses nearby yet with wildlife, peace and quiet. We met Glyn at the start and end of our stay, and he was most helpful.

  • Great, spacious, and clean house for our short stay in Marin! We loved the private back deck and hot tub after a long day of hiking. Glyn was very responsive to emails prior to and during our stay. Highly recommended!

  • Beautiful clean house in fantastic location. Beds were very comfortable and amenities first rate. Although Glyn and I were not able to meet (we were running around every day doing the tourist thing) he called and texted regularly to see how we were doing. I highly recommend this location and host. I wish we could take the beautiful northern California weather back to Florida. As I am writing this it is 97 and muggy.

  • This home is heavenly. My husband and I spent a restorative and relaxing week here, and felt like family by the time we left. Glyn was a wonderful, attentive host and made sure we were well looked after and knew which grocery stores and restaurants to visit. Glyn's gardens are absolutely spectacular, and I enjoyed many blissful hours reading on the deck with the bees and hummingbirds, enjoying the view of Mt. Tamalpais. Glyn has thought of everything in terms of making his home as comfortable as possible for guests - don't miss a chance to stay here if you're visiting the area. Thanks again for sharing your home, Glyn!

About
I am a publishing professional, semi-retired, born in the UK and living in the US (Virginia, Missouri, New York City,San Diego, Los Angeles, and now the San Francisco Bay Area of California ) for the past 27 years. I have done many home exchanges around the world with visitors who wanted to stay in our peaceful home in beautiful Marin county as a base to explore San Francisco, Giant redwoods, the Pacific coastal areas, beaches, and Napa and Sonoma wine country. I am now adding the rental options for more flexibility. I am mostly a traveller and a seeker of other other ideas and cultures though now I am somewhat tied to Marin County for a few more years. I was thinking about what i really do and like to do and this area is suited perfectly for those desires: nature, healthy good food, culture and the outdoors. I basically eat and experiment with almost everything edible and if pressed I would say Asian cuisine is my favourite choice. My main passion is football (soccer to non Brits and Euros) and I still kick it around and coach. I do read voraciously ; mostly politics, bios, current events and international relations. My other singular passion is music and I can bend your ear about most types, genres, some history and many artists.
