About this listing
A two bedroom loft apartment on the top floor of a mixed-used building only a few minutes walk from Brick Lane. The main living space is a large very light kitchen/living room with big windows on both sides. The main bedroom is a large room with a king size bed. The second bedroom has a smaller double bed. The apartment also has a large flat roof with great views of the city. The bathroom has an electric shower, no bath unfortunately, and a spectacular mural (by the artist Charlotte Mann) The kitchen has an oven, an electric hob and a gas ring, we are pretty well stocked with pots and pans if anyone wants to cook !
The apartment is a few minutes walk from Brick Lane, so there are lots of bars and restaurants less than a ten minute walk away, two of Londons most highly rated affordable Indian restaurants Tayyabs and Lahore are literally on your doorstep. Whitechapel, Aldgate East and Shadwell Underground and Overground stations are all a few minutes walk away making the flat very well connected to get to most parts of London.
This is quite an arty apartment, its a very beautiful space with great natural light. We moved in 4 years ago and converted the place from an office to an apartment, building a lot of it ourselves. It means the place has a very unique character but has quite a raw nature. This place is not for everyone you have to like the organic bespoke style. The flat feels like a world of it's own after you entered from the main road and up the office stairs, arriving on the third floor.
We moved out recently after we had a baby and wanted to live in a ground floor flat near lots of parks, it is much smaller but less urban. In the meantime, we decided to sublet our flat on airbnb and Emilie has been a great help making that possible for us. Also, it has allowed us time to think what to do next.
We left a lot of our stuff because our new place is a lot smaller so there are still a lot of books, music, a few games and dvd's that anyone staying is welcome to make use of. There is also a travelcot, saftey gates and a high chair in the flat.
Interaction with Guests
One of us or Emilie will meet you when you arrive and we can give you advice about local places to go. Feel free to email with questions before you arrive too.
The area is very central and set within the Bangladeshi area which means 100m away from the best cheap Curry restaurants in town. Minutes from the city and from Brick Lane and Shoreditch which is a great area for trendy bars and restaurants as well as the weekend market.
Aldgate East and Whitechapel underground stations are both a short walk away (under ten minutes) And Shadwell DLR is a similar distance. Liverpool street station which is convenient for arriving from the airport is 15-20 min walk, a few stops on the bus, 1 stop on the underground or a 5 min taxi ride. There are also lots of buses on commercial road. So it is quick and easy to get to most places in central London.
Other Things to Note
Two of London's best cheap Curry restaurants (Lahore and Tayyabs) are within 100 meters of the apartment. Bus 15 stops in front of the door and takes you right past the tower of London, Tower bridge to St. Pauls Cathedral and across from the Tate Modern.
